OHYSA Complex Pet Policy

** Pets are not allowed at the complex (except for special assistance dogs). Even one problem is too many (and we've had that already). I know this is Austin and pets (especially dogs) are almost everywhere. Oak Hill is one place where we can't allow it - please treat this rule as you would at any business or restaurant. Those who DO NOT obey this rule will be asked to leave the premises along with their pet.

This rule is in place for the safety of our players, coaches, umpires and spectators.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

OHYSA Board of Directors.

OHYSA Smoking Policy

** Reminder that smoking at the Oak Hill complex is allowed ONLY in the parking lots and not near any field, dugout, bleachers, etc. Please treat this rule as you would at any business or restaurant. Those who DO NOT obey this rule will be asked to leave the premises.

This rule is in place for the safety of our players, coaches, umpires and spectators.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

OHYSA Board of Directors.

PONY Baseball Bat Restrictions

Whether you're new to the league or a Pony returner, you should be aware of equipment restrictions issued by our governing body, PONY. In particular, new baseball bat restrictions may impact any purchasing decisions you make as we head into the new season.

The basics of what you need to know (confirmed with PONY Headquarters today) for playing baseball at OHYSA are:

* You CANNOT use a 2-3/4" barrel bat in ANY league, no exceptions
* You CANNOT use a "Coach Pitch" bat in ANY league, no exceptions
* You CANNOT use a tee ball bat any league EXCEPT Shetland
* 2-5/8" barrel bats can be used in ALL leagues
* ANY 2-5/8" barrel bat with a -3 drop, MUST be BBCOR certified
* 2-1/4" barrel bats can be used in ALL leagues, but must have a BPF of 1.15
* Any NEW 2-1/4" barrel bat must have stamps showing "approved for PONY play," "BPF 1.15," and the date of manufacture

So what should you avoid? Definitely don't buy a "big barrel" 2-3/4" bat, or anything that's labeled "Coach Pitch." And unless you're in Shetland, make sure it's not a tee ball bat. If you've been thinking about moving your kid to a -3, check the bat first, because it HAS to be BBCOR certified - whether you're buying it new, getting it from a friend, or searching at Play It Again. And finally if you're heading out to buy your player a standard baseball bat with a narrow 2-1/4" barrel, check the labels. Make sure it has the appropriate stamps in place.

Remember, these restrictions are new to us all. But by paying attention to what you're getting now, you'll end up saving yourself a big headache - not to mention a big hit to your wallet - in the long run. And as always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask your coach or commissioner.
