Players are enjoying the 2009 Fall Season! Playing in Mililani every so often is a good thing. Playoffs are right around the corner!

TEAM KAUAI WINS THE MILILANI TOURNAMENT!!!!
August 4, 2009 - 07:15 PM Team Kauai beat Ruthless Zoo (from Mililani) 9 to 6. Congratulations to both teams for reaching the championship game.

December 28, 2008 - 06:00 AM Jason Domitrovic is currently snowboarding in Minnesota. He found somewhat of a 'little hill' to have some fun on. It sounds like it is a lot of work for such a small hill! At least he is having fun!?!? He is sending the Hawaii roller hockey community his best wishes for 2009.

DOUG JONES GOT MARRIED!!!!!!!
December 28, 2008 - 06:10 AM Doug Jones tied the knot on Christmas day in Little River, South Carolina and Santa was the guest of honor. THIS TIME THEY GOT THE SILVER!!!!!!!!!!
January 18, 2009 - 04:00 PM TEAM KALAPAWAI CAFE, a true band of brothers, did what they had to do, and THEY GOT THE SILVER! They first beat Super Troopers 3 to 2, in the semifinals. They ended getting the silver medal against Team Mexico International (by the way whom they had beat at the last Summer Narch 2008) 4 to 2. Congratulations to Team Kalapawai Cafe for an awesome achievement miles away from home!

SAD NEWS FOR THE OIHL: ERIC SAWCHUK HAS GONE TO HEAVEN!
February 3, 2009 - 07:30 PM The OIHL has lost a great inline hockey coach, Eric Sawchuk in a hunting accident over the weekend. All members of the league are sending Teresa, Kino, and Sissy their sincere condolences. For the ones who did not know Eric, he was coaching the 8&Under division team out of the Windward side and last year's OIHL Select mites team. He was known for his great love for the game, his intensity in helping his kids on the sideline, and his spectacular voice during the games. He was a great asset for the OIHL and for the sport of inline hockey in general on Oahu. Eric, we will all miss you a great deal and may the Lord be on your family's side during this difficult time............ ALOHA AND MAHALO ERIC!.............

COACH BRAD AND HIS FAMILY ARE GOING TO AZ!!!!!!!!!!!
March 14, 2009 - 10:30 PM At 10:00 am today, at the Kamiloiki Park, the Honolulu Sharks and the OIHL, said goodbye to coach Brad Vanhaveren and his family who are leaving Hawaii for the great state of Arizona. Despite the heavy rain, we all gathered under our umbrellas and exchanged memories and ideas. We wish Annie, Brendan, and coach Brad a safe trip to Phoenix. We will miss them. Aloooooooha!

TIME FOR OIHL SELECT TEAMS TO START PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!
May 4, 2009 - 10:30 AM The OIHL bantams select team tryouts took place last Saturday at the Hawaii Kai rink. This year the OIHL bantam team is looking good. Kevin Schorn, 'Da Coach', took charge of the drills and the players were focused. Excellent start! Mahalo guys and girls!
Also, the May 2 games have been posted. Please check your stats players!

THE SKILLS COMPETITION DAY WAS JUST GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
May 11, 2009 - 11:30 AM The weather was great, the competition went well, the trophies and medals looked good, Kailia Moylan's birthday party was fun, and most of all the food buffet was ono! The OIHL 2009 spring season was enjoyed by all. Thank you players, thank you coaches, and thank you parents. Without you all, the OIHL would not be successful. The number of new players has grown well, an essential lifeline of the OIHL. We need to spread the word that inline hockey is fun and it keeps kids out of trouble. Have a great summer. Enjoy Hawaii because we all are lucky to be in such a beautiful place! As for the OIHL Regionals select teams, practice hard and be the best you can be!
Aloooooooooooooha!!!!!

The rink repairs started on Wednesday and should be finished Tuesday evening. The OIHL wants to thank the following people who made the effort to help out of their busy schedule:

** From the ADULT LEAGUE:
1- Rob Moylan (and Julia Hung)
2- Marcus Young
3- Troy Kimura
4- Trip Rems
5- Chris Hu
6- Larry Arakaki
7- Greg Studt ----->please call if we omitted to mention someone!!!!!

** From the YOUTH LEAGUE:
1- Jon Baldado
2- Gabi Paczolay
3- Ted Biesecker
4- Richard Pentecost

A special mahalo to JON BALDADO for taking the time to organize the repairs and for being patient with most of us. The caulking is turning out really well and I am sure the players will appreciate the improvements to the joints. Finally and not least, the damaged fencing at each end of the rink have been replaced and the two goals will be replaced by brand new ones.
NO SKATING UNTIL NEXT SATURDAY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!

OUR 14 & UNDER TEAM DID WELL!
June 15, 2009 - 02:30 PM The Regionals went very well. All OIHL teams played hard. Mililani showed everyone again that they are fierce competitors by taking 3 golds out of five (10&U, 16&U, and 18&U.) Kauai took gold in the 12&U division, and the OIHL took gold in the 14&U division. The 8&U division was exciting to watch. Mililani showed they were a bit better than the OIHL by winning all 3 games. However, the skills competition was in favor of the OIHL Mites. Overall, the event was a huge success. Congratulations to Mike Barros, MIHA president, and his crew! Inline hockey in the state of Hawaii is alive and well. Let us do it again in 2010 and possibly indoor!?!?!?

6 YEARS AGO, THE 17&U WAIALAE SHARKS!!!!!!!!
June 18, 2009 - 06:15 PM Back in time, when time flies! The 2003 Waialae Sharks 17 & Under team, from left to right: Kaipo Cabral, Michael Pentecost, Roy Ogasawara, Todd Ogasawara, Tiana Yogi, Paul Deer, Ikaika Yogi, Kimo, Eric Tsuji, and Ian Garrod.

DOUG JONES DID WELL FOR THE KIDS AT KBAY!!!!!!!!!!
October 14, 2008 - 08:15 PM Doug Jones was his usual self during his last clinic. He pointed out the most important drills in roller hockey, he made everybody feel very comfortable, and the kids loved it! Mahalo Doug for spending the weekend with a few Hawaii roller hockey players and fans! May be we'll see you again for another round in early 2009. Until then, aloha and a big mahalo from us all.

August 1, 2008 - 05:40 PM --- Is it too early to talk about Narch 2009? Narch 2009 will take place in Mississauga, Canada, at the Hershey Centre. Knowing what the Hawaii teams experienced in San Jose last month, it is fair to say that without a serious training and practice plan, well ahead of Narch 2009 in Canada, the San Jose results will very hard to duplicate. If anyone is planning to play in Narch 2009, start thinking about how you will reach the best physical and mental shape you can get in. There will be other tournaments in between that you will be able to participate in, namely, Winter Wars, USA Regionals, Narch Regionals, but the Narch Finals are truly the tournament to be in. Why? Diversity! You may enter Club divisions, Silver, Gold, Platinum, etc.... Excitement! You can compete against USA teams, but also Canadians, Columbians, Mexicans, Japanese, even French teams! Well organized tournament! Narch 2008 was well run, as well as State Wars! Bottom line: Narch rocks!

1990 DIVISION STATE WARS TEAM ENDS UP IN AAA!!!
August 7, 2007 - 04:00 PM The Hawaii 1990 Division State Wars team ended in the AAA Division, 7th out of 13 teams. It is the first time a Hawaii team ends up in the AAA bracket. The team ended with 2 wins and 3 losses (playoffs included.) The first playoff game was hard right off the back since California was ranked first along with the Colorado 1990 team (Josh Holmes's team.) Hawaii lost 8 to 4 to the California team (Cal scored 4 goals in power plays!) We gave the Californians a run for their money!
Two Hawaii players made the All-Stars teams: Michael Pentecost was both on Team America and Team Pride. Dane Masada took a spot on Team Pride.
The Hawaii 1990 Division team was comprised of the following players:
KEALA DAVIS, PRESTON FAINI, ETHAN HO, DANE MASADA, BRYAN MCGUINNESS, KORBIN MIKLES, ANTHONY PENTECOST, MICHAEL PENTECOST, JACOB RANARIO, TRAVIS SOMERA, and ERIC TSUJI.
The coaching staff included the following: DOUG JONES, ROSS NAKAGAWA and ERICK MIJARES.
It is important to mention that Doug Jones (2006 California State Wars teams coach and State Director) brought a lot of his knowledge of the game and previous State Wars experience which contributed to our players' success in the tournament. Mahalo Doug!!!!

DOUG JONES WAS HERE TO TRAIN THE 1990 STATE WARS TEAM!!!
July 2, 2007 - 08:00 AM From June 27 through June 30, Doug Jones was in Honolulu to train the 1990 division State Wars team. All sessions took place at the Hawaii Kai rink. All players trained hard and learned a lot. Ross Nakagawa and Erick Mijares, State Wars coaches, also benefited from the the various coaching strategies, drills and ideas that Doug Jones brought on the table. Check the new photo album out!

2008 MAUI REGIONALS! IT WAS FUN IN SPITE OF THE RESULTS!
MAUI WAS FUN!

The OIHL Select squads did well overall. Despite the fact none of the teams got the gold, the OIHL teams showed they have 'heart', love for competition, and a great sense of belonging! A big mahalo to all players, coaches, parents and fans who made the Maui event fun to watch in all age divisions.
The final OIHL Select teams results are as follows:

MITES DIVISION: 2ND PLACE (lost to Mililani)
SQUIRTS DIVISION: 2ND PLACE (lost to Mililani)
PEEWEES DIVISION: 3RD PLACE (lost to New Hope)
BANTAMS: 2ND PLACE (lost to Kona in lower bracket)
MIDGETS: 2ND PLACE (lost to Kauai team)
JUNIORS: 3RD PLACE (lost to Mililani and Kauai/Kona teams, beat Maui)

Let us get ready for the Fall season in September!

14&U'S TEAM HAWAII ARE THE GOLDEN BOYS!!!!!!!!
July 29, 2008 - 08:00 PM All 3 Hawaii club teams are bringing back medals!
First, the 12&U's Team Kauai lost their semi-finals game to St Louis Tour Cobras White MO in an overtime game 3 to 2. They went on to win the bronze medal and beat the Chico Firebirds CA 5 to 1.
Then, the 16&U's Team Kauai got their bronze medal and beat the Paso Predators CA 6 to 1. Keala Davis fom Kilauea, Kauai, won the individual award for most points-per-game average in the 16&U's Club Division.

In a fantastic single-overtime final, Tommy Windham (overall best shooter in the Bantam Club Division) scored the decisive goal with a beautiful backhand shot. JASON DOMITROVIC IS BACK IN OREGON!
May 27, 2008 - 02:30 PM Jason will be missed by the OIHL Select teams' players, coaches and parents. His knowledge of roller hockey in general and his ability to coach the sports at any age level were remarkable. At the end of the training sessions, Jason was accepted by all and will be missed by all. Thanks Jason! Job well done! The kids will always remember your passion for roller hockey. Aloha and we can't wait to see you amongst us soon......

Jason Domitrovic was back and almost stayed in Hawaii for good!
June 18, 2007 - 03:15 PM Jason Domitrovic, State Wars co-director, enjoyed his stay in Honolulu and had fun teaching the kids on the 1996, 1994 and 1990 division teams. All players learned new hockey tricks under his supervision. Jason is optimistic about the Hawaii teams getting a medal in their respective divisions. Train hard Hawaii! Do not forget that you are representing your state! Good luck in Bensenville.

JASON PREPARES FOR WINTER STATE WARS!!!!!!!!!
February 1, 2008 - 08:00 AM Jason Domitrovic (co-director of State Wars) is preparing for Winterwars. Jason lives in Bend, Central Oregon. Does it snow there or what?!?!

After the hot sunny training sessions, Jason chose to relax at Diamond Head and surf for 2 hours! He does better on his skates, but he never turns down a fun surfing session at a good Hawaii surf spot.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY TO ALL OIHL MEMBERS!!!!!!
