Coach Guzman has Olympicos BU15 playing like Champions On November 7, 2010 Coach Guzman’s boys BU15 faced off against the Pumas Blue who were on a hot streak. Little did the Puma club know that the Olympicos BU15 was the hottest team in the Presidio league. Before the match Coach Guzman calmly explained to the boys that if they continue to play good team ball and give great effort; good results will continue to happen. Coach Francisco Guzman leadership and insight for the way soccer should be played; has a very good team playing to great heights in 2010. The first half started with both teams a little tentative and our Olympicos boys were spending a lot of time defending the goal. The defense was very organized yet twice took some chances and pushed up on offense and left an opening for the opponents. They took two shots on goal that were turned away by our Great Goalie. The back defense realized that that they needed to be more alert at the counter attack. They made some quick adjustments and no more pressure was allowed in the first half. Because of this and the great work of the midfield play we spend the last 13 minutes of the first half putting pressure on the opponent’s goal. The half ended 0-0. Coach Guzman allowed the team some rest at half time; he said a few words of encouragement, “we need to settle down now to go out and execute good two pass touches and look for scoring opportunities". The refs blew the whistled and the second half started as the first ended with Olympicos attacking the opponent’s goal. Olympicos pressured for the first 5 minutes and scored on a right cross pass to the far corner. Our striker hit the ball and it deflected by the defense for a second shot that cleared the outstretched hands of the goalie. Six minutes later a similar attack with another score put the boys up 2-0. Coach Guzman took this advantage and made several great fresh substations to protect the lead and not allow our goalie to be pressured. The team continued to play great ball and we finished with the victory. This win put our club in a tie for first place with our opponent. With this great team effort and our parents support; the final game of the season will pit these same teams at the Puma field for the championship. Each Coach and Team provided a storm that excited the spectators on both sides of the side lines. The canon shots by our players hit the their mark like fireworks filling the evening sky. A sea of smiles and the roar of the crowd clearly spelled success for everyone. Congratulation coaches, players and parents. And Special Thanks to all our coaches for your time and pride and happiness you give for our players and community. I also was please to see all the parents and friends who cheered their sons.  I can't say how much I appreciate all your time and hard work you dedicate to our players and community. I will start by stating what I know about your great talents and commitment to the youth of Olympicos Soccer Club. 
 
All of you love Soccer and enjoy sharing this passion with the young players who are excited about all the fun things in Life.                    
 
Your coaching  starts after a long and hard day at your place of employment and you rush to get ready for practice.  If time permits you stop by the house to grab a quick bite to eat and say good bye to your supportive family. 
 
You arrive to the soccer field setting up the equipment and reviewing in your mind the practice and game planning for the week. You have no time to take a deep breath or think about all the other important obligations in your busy life.

Deep in thought a breath of fresh and rejuvenating air is filled by the sights and sounds of :

*    Smiling kids slamming the car doors, carrying soccer balls and racing their teammates to the green grass field. 
*    Players are crowding around you asking to be the leader of their favorite and fun soccer drill or exercise.
*    A player is asking you to witness his ability to do a brilliant move of the "Great Ronaldo".
*    A shy player proudly and quietly asking , " I played better huh coach?
*    A loud roar is heard when you huddle up the team to tell them, " All of you had a great game and I am very  proud  of you"

Olympicos Soccer Club is ever so grateful and Proud of your Volunteer ism and  Leadership. We thank you for not getting down by the difficult unrealistic pressures and expectations of  always having to win and of making the perfect game adjustments.
 
The value that you provide to your community is priceless. Just hear what other great coaches have in common with you.

A NEW STAR ALWAYS SHINES BRIGHT BECAUSE IT IS MADE OF THE FINEST ELEMENTS

Joe Corona young star of "Xolos " de Tijuana is making his mark in the world of professional soccer.

He is a very focused and takes time for autographs and to share his experiences with young players.

Our club players were excited and thankful of meeting this young man who could easily be their brother.

As I watched and listened to him I could not help but think that not too long ago he was playing for a youth

competitive soccer league like that of Olympicos Soccer Club.

His message to our players was very similar to those of the recent visit of the other 2 professional players. Key points:

Know your talents and always work very hard to correct your weaknesses.
Respect constructive criticism from caring coaches, parents and mentors.
Build and strong Mind and Body with healthy foods and good school grades.
Write your goals with a time of completions and have new ones ready.
Learn physical skills and mental concepts of the game well.
Understand and expect setbacks but don't let them get you down.
Be flexible with your goals and don't fear changes just challenge yourself.
Practice and Play hard always to prepare you to make the best of your opportunities.
Be a great team player and have fun to enjoy new opportunities and friendships.

The nine items mentioned above are the same road taken by 90% of all athletes or college professionals like

Scientist , Doctor, Lawyers, Businessmen and many other college or technical careers.
