Congratulations to our 2013 Omaha Area Soap Box Derby Champions!!
The Omaha Area Soap Box Derby Association is dedicated to helping children become solid community citizens through the teaching of basic construction skills, teamwork, the spirit of competition, perseverance, and family values.
Soap box derby is a racing program for girls and boys ages 7 to 21 years old.
Participants compete by driving gravity-powered cars in one of three divisions:
• Stock: Lean-forward cars for beginning drivers.
• Super Stock: Advanced lean-forward car, giving racers an opportunity to expand their skill.
• Masters: Lie-down car for additional excitement!
Rallies are sanctioned by either the All-American Soap Box Derby (AA) or National Derby Rallies, Inc. (NDR). AA competitors may be 8 years through 17 years old, and NDR participants may be 7 years to 21 years old. Omaha's rallies are held at the northwest corner of Seymour Smith Park, 72nd and Washington. Races are held in Omaha April through October and begin around 8:30 a.m. and runs until approximately 3:30 p.m. on select Saturdays and Sundays in the spring and fall.
The events are free to the public, and a concession stand is available.
