Hello PYFA Members,
I am hoping that everyone is having a great and relaxing off season. But believe it or not that time is upon us again, the 2014 season registration.
We have made numerous strives to try and assure that the registration process goes smoothly this year. Last year, being our first year for online registration, we able to learn a lot to simplify the process for this year. So, as of February 1, 2014, the website’s online registration will be open. This will be on both of our websites, so either website has the capability for online registration for the PYFA teams. When visiting the websites, please feel free to go to the link to visualize our new up and coming website to be completed for the 2015 season. With the new website we will be able to manage both teams through a single site, so feel free to take a look and tell us what you think.
Along with improving registration, we have also been working on our chapter’s operation. Most of you are aware that we became USA Football Heads Up certified during the 2013 season. This is a huge step in the right direction when it comes to coaching our players in a safe manner. USA football is an organization that is owned and operated by the NFL strictly focused on improving safety in youth football. Being certified with the Heads Up program requires all of coaches and assistant coaches become certified through their personal training courses. Along with certifying their coaching abilities, all of our coaches will require background checks to assure they meet all of the proper requirements to coach youth football. For the 2015 season, we will become responsible for informing and teaching you, our parents, about the Heads Up football program. You will become informed and better educated on the steps that we are taking to assure that your child is being taught the game correctly, and more importantly safely. You will also see that currently PYFA is the only youth football organization that has been certified in Pearland, so we take great pride in achieving this and demonstrating our commitment to player safety.
At the GCPFL level, we have been expanding and improving as well. New to the 2014 season, we have two new teams that we may have to face, the Texas City Bengals and the South Houston Wildcats, both organizations promise to add more competition to the league. Different than the past, the 2014 season will be an eight game season, compared to last year’s nine game schedule. But similar to the past all teams are playing for a seed in the playoffs, where every team will have at least one playoff game. Also, because of popular demand, you will see an entire new referee staff officiating our games for the 2014 season. These and many other issues have been heard and worked on during the off season to remedy any problem or discrepancy that may arise in the future. The main thing to apply to our parents, both at the PYFA and GCPFL levels, we are striving to improve how we operate and teach the kids.
In conclusion, I invite everyone to take advantage of the discounted on line registration while they can to gain a roster spot for the 2014 season. Feel free to forward this letter to all of your family, friends, and anyone else that is interested playing the game in a whole new era. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email us at email@example.com, we will respond as soon as possible. Also, feel free to research the Heads Up football program by going to www.usafootball.com, and begin learning how we are making the game safer.
