 Mercyhurst Weekend

On the weekend of October 6th, the Peewee AA Scarborough Sharks traveled to Mercyhurst University in Erie Pennsylvania for the weekend. The team spent time touring the campus including a personal tour of the Mercyhurst Lakers women's dressing room by assistant coach Louis Goulet.  Coach Goulet discussed what Mercyhurst looks for in players they recruit along with what it takes to play hockey at the university level.  The team toured the rest of the beautiful campus and had a fantastic lunch in the cafeteria. The Sharks also cheered on the Mercyhurst Women's Lakers as they played to a tie in their game vs St Lawrence University.

Over the weekend, the Sharks played in a tournament with the Syracuse Nationals, Chicago Fury and Ancaster Avalanche.  The team first theme continued as the players became closer by spending a fantastic weekend touring the campus, playing hockey, cheering on the Lakers and having fun together at the Splash Lagoon Water Park.  This trip was a wonderful opportunity for the team to experience what good attitude, hard work and determination can do for them in their future.

A big thanks to Coach Avi for arranging this great opportunity for the team at his alma mater.

Cottage Team Building Weekend

A Great Start to Training Camp and This Season

The Sharks Peewee "AA" team headed to Muskoka for a team building cottage weekend to kick off the season.  The weekend was full of fitness, learning, responsibility and fun!

The team had a good chance to develop relationships with each other and the the coaches.  They had fun and worked as a team during their team building activities, meal prep, cleaning duties, hockey and fitness skills.  Throughout the weekend, they focused on being a "team first"  and always supporting each other.  The schedule and activities carefully crafted by coaches Mark and Avi kept the weekend event filled and on track.

The team took time out for some leisure.  They went swimming, boating, tubing and water skiing with the help of our always patient instructor Bill.  One highlight of the trip was when the team went by boat into town for their two hour session on the sport court to work on systems and skills.

The team and parents would like to say a big thank you to our hosts Bill and Sandra for their hospitality.  This weekend allows our team to come together and become closer as they begin their season long journey.  It also gives our team memories to last a lifetime.

After the successful team building weekend, the team headed into their training camp week where they continued to build upon their newly laid foundation.  Fitness, systems and skills filled this week for the team as they began putting the pieces together.

The Peewee 'AA' Sharks training camp will be held at Canlan Scarborough from August 28th thru August 31st.  The all-day camp will consist of three hours on on-ice training each day, along with fitness assessments, dry-land training, and classroom sessions.

University Tour

The Peewee ‘AA’ Sharks will be hitting the road on the weekend of October 6th for a tour of the Mercyhurst University campus, and their NCAA Div. I hockey program.  While in Erie Pennsylvania, The Players and parent will watch the Mercyhurst Lakers take on St. Lawrence University.  No trip to Erie would be complete without a visit to Splash Lagoon indoor water-park.  Players and parents will have a lot of fun while getting to know each other on this early season road trip.
