Dryland a Huge Hit
January 16, 2012
Dryland Instructor Sherrill-Lee Hyra, pictured below, gives the Wheaties some instruction prior to starting their circuit training.

Sherrill-Lee does an excellent job and has an incredible knack of getting a big effort from the boys while they have a ton of fun at the same time.

A big "Thank You" goes out to the Hyra family for organizing the dryland sessions for the team.

For more photos from Monday's dryland session, see the photo album section.
A Good Laugh
January 16, 2012
Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. In the photo below, Tate Popple had just picked up the workout ball that had been dropped on the floor. Immediately after this happened, one of the coaches may have made a joke about Mr. Popple dropping his ball on the floor. It appears that Carter Hyra and Tate thought this was a funny moment.

When asked what happened, the boys were heard stating "what happens at dryland, stays at dryland."
Tummy Crunches
January 16, 2012
Matt Robinson and Alex "cookie" Cook demonstrate the fine art of doing tummy crunches with a medicine ball.

Both of the boys fathers were overheard saying that they really like doing tummy crunches themselves.
Putting Them Through Their Paces
January 16, 2012
Dryland Instructor Bob Hyra puts Cody Lawrence and Sam Huston through their paces.

The boys were allegedly crying after 27 straight minutes of Bob's gruelling torture. Just kidding :)

In all seriousness though, I bet their dad's would have been crying.....

A Surprise for Dexter....

Team Party at the Lamonts
January 15, 2012
After the game against the Canadians, the team went over to the Lamonts' house for a team get get together.

The festivities included skating, eating, drinking, pool, NFL Football, hot tubbing, ping pong, and even a visit by a Rock Star.

The event was a huge success - thank you to the Lamonts for hosting the party and for everyone else for their contributions as well.

For more photos from the party, check out the photo album section of the website.
Benny the Rock Star
January 15, 2012
If you judge a party by how good the band was then the Peewee Wheat king Party was a smashing success.

As a surprise to the guests, Ben Lamont showed the crowd that he sings and plays the guitar as well as he plays hockey. Way to go Benny!

While all the songs were outstanding, it sounds like the coaches thought the rif from Stairway to Heaven was awesome. Coach rob was even heard to say he might grow his hair long again.
Hanging in the Hot Tub
January 15, 2012
It would appear from the photograph that the "maximum" number of people allowed in the Lamonts hot tub at one time was getting close to the limit.
Every Party has a couple of These Guys.....
January 15, 2012
Every party always seems to have a couple of fellows that take the fun and excitement one step further than the rest of the folks at the party.

In this case, Tate Popple and Carter Hyra decided that simply hanging in the hot tub was not quite enough excitement for them on this day so they thought rolling in the snow as well would increase the fun factor.

Any way you slice it, that looks mighty cold to the outside observer.
Happy Birthday
January 15, 2012
The team party at the Lamonts made for the perfect locale for some singing of Happy Birthday to Graham Wright and Jay Webber. Both of these fine young men are now going to officially be teenagers.

Happy Birthday guys.
Optical Illusion, or ???
January 15, 2012
It is probably never a good thing to jump to conclusions but from this photograph it sure does look like Eric Hildebrand is going to town gnawing on the outstretched arm of Mrs. Wright.

The Wheat King parents enjoyed a trip to Selkirk on Saturday afternoon.

One of the trip highlights was a stop at Nick's Inn to pick up some delicious burgers for the ride home!

It was also Retro movie day as we got to watch the classic Smokey and the Bandit. As a result, do not be surprised if you see Coach Sean driving a 1978 Black and Gold Trans Am by the end of the month.

January 14, 2012
