Boys in Green Struggle Through First Month
June 1, 2011 — It's difficult to sum up Pemberton's season up to this point; they've been both solid and horrible, yet not quite mediocre. Although they've looked terrible in 3 games against Delran this year, they have played well against a tough Cinnaminson team and notched their lone win against the defending champions of Burlington.

Some bright spots have included newcomers Tyler Veterano and Kyle Paparteys, who have each been hitting over .300 all season. Mike Lamola's transition to the infield has been a smooth one, while the returns of Mark and Greg Hunt have provided some thump to an otherwise anemic offense. The pitching has been mediocre, at best, amidst countless defensive and baserunning lapses that may have cost the team one or two early season wins.

Clearly, the new-looked Pemberton team has some work to do. Stay tuned for faster post-game recaps as the season progresses.

News & Notes:
The team has welcomed back right fielder Bobby Henderson after an injury shortened 2010 campaign. He's hitting .357 with 2 doubles. His brother and Hollister co-worker, however, quit the team after the second game of the year. Since Pemberton's opening year in 2007, only he and Mike Lamola remain on the roster......after a 4 strikeout day at the plate, newcomer Ian McCleaf pleaded with a man working the snack bar in Vincentown: "C'mon, man. I suck. I just went 0-4 with 4 strikeouts...can't I get a free hotdog out of sympathy?" The snack bar guy: "I don't think you deserve anything after that."

Pemberton Off to Another Shaky Start
May 13, 2011 — Another year. More than a dozen new players. Unfortunately for the Boys in Green- the same result.

Ronnie Krankowski took the mound for Opening Night against Cinnaminson and hurled a decent game, although eventually took the 6-4 loss. Although only surrendering 3 hits, a couple of errors and about a half-dozen untimely passed balls/wild pitches led to the team's demise. On a side note, Nick Henderson came on to pitch an effective 2 1/3 innings in relief, only allowing one hit.

Game 2 featured newcomer and former Willingboro pitcher John Diamond. Erratic and wild all game, Delran would capitalize off him with patience and timely hits to easily route Pemberton 12-0.

News and Notes:
Krankowski, unable to swing a bat due to an injury to his non-throwing shoulder, was forced to bat 3 times in the first game due to a shortage of players. The result? 1-2 (bunt single) with a sacrifice and an RBI. Even with one arm, he somehow remained a threat in a very weak early season lineup.....Vince Gares, although only a sophomore in high school, is the only Pemberton player with more than 1 hit. On Thursday, he broke up Delran's no-hit bid with an infield single in his only at-bat.....After the first loss, First Baseman Mark Gordon texted Mike Lamola with the words: "Oh yes! Bloody big toe is back!!!!!" For those wondering, Gordon's seasonal toe problems tend to lead to some good games for the quirky team mascot. Hopefully no one will actually have to view his beastly and damaged toe; his brother threw up at the mere sight of it in 2009.
