FAQ about Babe Ruth Baseball
February 2, 2010 Why is PYSA doing Baseball?

We see there is a gap where the older boys really don't have an opportunity to continue to play baseball. We did the research and found that most kids start dropping off at around age 12. Research shows alot of reasons and all have some affect on the decision to drop out of baseball. But one that really stands out to us is that they know there's no where for them to play if they don't make the school team. Obviously the school can only take a few players so the odds are always against you making the team. With that in mind, we decided to find a national organization that would give us the greatest flexibility and greatest opportunity to provide the opportunity for kids to play league baseball. In comes Babe Ruth baseball, and they do allow us the flexibility and opportunity we are looking for. We made the decision to offer this league for only, 13 - 18 year olds that live in our territory.

What age groups will Babe Ruth allow to play? And how are they grouped?

13 - 18
13 prep
14 - 15
16 prep
16 - 18

For the 13 and 14's what is the difference between Babe Ruth and Dixie Boys?

* Field Dimensions

* Ability for 13-15 to play together which will increase size of the league (number of participants)

* Flexible League Rules, individual leagues have the ability to set rules which will best serve its community

* True "World Series" versus teams in Southeast United States

* Preparation to make the jump from smaller fields dimensions to a High School Regulation Field

I've heard people say it to far for the 13 and 14's to make the throws?

Babe Ruth is one of the largest youth baseball organizations in the nation. Kids make the same throws all around the country everyday. Will the kids be challenged.. yes.. Will they become better players by being challenged... yes..
13 - 14's will be attempting to qualify for the school team within 6-7 months from start of the season and even shorter period time at the conclusion of the season. It would be a greater benefit to prepare your child player during league play versus during school try-outs. Our League will allow your child/player an opportunity to slowly adjust versus immediate, in essence a better opportunity to succeed

How big is the Petal Babe Ruth Territory?

Forrest County
Perry County
Jones County
Greene County

If I signed up with Babe Ruth and you don't have enough to make then what?

We have every reason to believe this program will be a success do to:
1.) Three ages per group,
2.) League boundaries
3.) Flexibility of Babe Ruth Baseball League options
4.) Ability to play other local Babe Ruther Leagues (optional) i.e. Oak Grove and Purvis. 5.) Amount of interest already expressed.

13 - 14 answer only:
We have had several meeting this the Optimist Club President, current and previous. We have the upmost respect for them and the club. We have all agreed that the kids are the focus of our goals and should either of us see that it will be best after registration for the kids to play with the other group then we will happily send them to that group. The 13 and 14's are not our focus.. Our Focus is 13 - 18 year old players.

October 26, 2009 - 06:00 PM Coke Sale !!!!!

The Coke sale was a huge success! Thank you all for your hard work to make this special coke sales happen for us. We now have the funds to have all of our helments recertified in the off season for next year.

The Coke company is bringing us a truck out to Sunrise on the 27th with all of our orders. We should have the truck broken down into your individual orders starting about 6:00. Please plan to stop by and get your orders so you can pass them on to the people that made the purchase.

Thanks again,

J.L.

PYSA - 2009 Donation to Petal Middle Schools
October 13, 2009 (In Picture: Lisa Myers, Michael Hogan, and J.L. Breazeale)

Each year after we go through our budgets and determine exactly what is needed for the upcoming sport seasons, we always make sure we have something left to give back to the community. This year is no different, as a matter of fact, this year is very special. Because of all the hard work by the people at PYSA - selling t-shirts, program ads, and working the concession stand, we are able to make this Two Thousand dollar donation to Petal Middle School. Petal Middle School has been a long time supporter and partner of PYSA. Michael and his team will put this money to good use for all of our children.

Special thanks to all the member of PYSA and supporters of PYSA. This is only possible because of you. Together we can truly make a difference in our community.

Game Day Rules! Outside Food or Drinks
Please do not bring ice chest to any Mississippi Youth football event.

No league in the state allows outside ice chest or food to be brought to their fields. They all have a concessionstand for a reason. It's to support the local football program. Now we do allow ice chest for the players and cheerleaders but not the fans.

Think of it this way. Without the revenue generated by the concessionstand most area's couldn't have a football program and your child would be directly impacted.

Failure to comply with this very simple rule can result in you being asked to leave the game or for the season.

Please support our program, it services all of our kids!

New Uniforms for 2009?
These would represent our three travel lines: White, Black, and Red

Jump over to the forum and let me now what you think about them.

Missing Football Equipment may drive up Registration Cost!
I’ve gone down to review the equipment and it appears that we have a lot of equipment that has not been returned. If you know anyone who has football equipment and has not turned it in please ask them for it.

If you have equipment and have not been able to get it turned it please contact me so we can get it turned it as soon as possible.

We may have to raise the price of registration to $100.00 to cover the cost of replacing equipment!

That’s a lot of money for most folks, so please lets all work together to find missing equipment!
