Our Mission

The mission of Putnam Athletic League Pop Warner program is the same as that of Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. To enable young people to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Pop Warner programs teach fundamental values, skills and knowledge that young people will use throughout their lives.

Pop Warner seeks to provide fun athletic learning opportunities for children, while emphasizing the importance of academic success.  Specifically, Pop Warner seeks to familiarize players and spirit participants with the fundamentals of football, cheerleading and dance. Pop Warner strives to inspire youth, regardless of race, creed or national origin, to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship and physical fitness as reflected in the life of the late Glenn Scobie “Pop” Warner.

Allen Pope Named Southeast Region Male Coach of the Year 2016

Allen Pope SER Male Coach Of the YearCongratulations to Allen Pope, Putnam Athletic League’s Mite-Mite Coach with the Lake City Tigers who received the Southeast Region’s 2016 Male Coach of the Year Award on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Annual Southeast Regional meeting. The Lake City Pop Warner Association nominated Coach Pope for his service in their recreational park for the past 20 years and his volunteer service as a Mitey-Mite Coach since 2010. President Zack Paulk wrote, “Coach Pope is the most sought after coach in our program. Parents look forward to their children being on his team. His dedication to our youth carries into his own home, as he fosters three boys he introduced to the program over the past three years.  He opens his heart and his home to instill discipline, manners and a hard work ethic. This is a testament to his passion as a motivator for our youth, especially young men.  Coach Pope instills the core values that create good citizens such as manners, discipline, and integrity.  He incorporates these principles into his practices and games. He is preparing his teams for the challenges they will face on and off the playing field. He never shows favoritism. He is stern, but fair, and his players respect him.”  His record in the Mitey-Mite level has been 31 wins 4 losses and 1 thigh. Coach Pope took his Mitey-Mites to the 2015 & 2016 ESPN Mitey-Mite bowl games at Walt Disney World’s Wide World of Sports and won both years. "This award represents more than winning championships, it represents the integrity a coach displays to his players and demonstrates beyond the field to his organization and community." says Ricky Wright, football coordinator for the Southeast Region.

Congratulations again to Coach Allen Pope for his award as the 2016 Southeast Region Male Coach of the Year. His dedication and character is a testimony of kindness that will affect the Lake City organization and his community for generations.  Thank you for your dedication to our programs and enrichment of our youth Coach Pope.
