TRYOUTS FOR 2012-2013 PLANO WEST GOLF TEAMS
Note: Tee Times not available at this time.
Tryouts for the 2012-2013 Plano West Golf Team will be held during the week of August 6, 2012 to August 10, 2012 at Pecan Hollow Golf Course .
Tryouts for Boys Varsity and Boys JV will be on Tuesday, August 7th and Wednesday, August 8th with the possibility of having to play on Thursday, August 9th.
Tryouts for Girls Varsity and Girls JV will be on Thursday, August 9th and Friday, August 10th.
Cost will be $15/day and paid in the pro shop at Pecan Hollow each day prior to play.
Golfers will be expected to walk and carry their bags during tryouts. It is imperative that gofers acclimate themselves to the heat prior to trying out.

MEGAN THOTHONG ADVANCES TO STATE

Congratulations Megan who shot a 76-70=146 at The Rawls G.C. at Texas Tech and is now moving on to State on April 30 and May 1st at Onion Creek in Austin. Good Luck Megan !!
VARSITY GIRLS - TIED FOR EIGHTH PLACE - REGIONALS @ THE RAWLS-TEXAS TECH

The Lady Wolves team ended their season tied for an 8th place finish at Regionals in Lubbock. The team shot a 333 the first day and came back the second day with a 315 for a total of 648. The team did not advance but Megan Thothong placed 2nd as a medalist and moves on to State.

The Mens Varsity team ended the season with a 4th Place finish at Regionals in Lubbock. With winds gusting up to 35 mph the first day the team posted 311. Came back the second day with 296 (3rd best round for the day) and overall 4th Place at Regionals.

Plano West Girls took 2nd place during the District 8-5A tournament at Brookhaven on April 4th-5th. They were solid both days with a first day score of 335 and second day of 332. The Lady Wolves are heading to Regionals in Lubbock on April 18-19. Strong performance by Sophomore Megan Thothong shot 74-79=153 (3rd place overall), Junior Ally Jones shot 78-80=158 (6th place overall), Sophomore Sara Kim shot 89-80=169 (10th place overall), Freshman Joann Chung shot 94-93=187 and Freshman Kaitlyn Fritz shot 104-99=203. The Mens Varsity team captured 2nd Place at District 8-5A after weather forces the tournament to be a three day event. Plano West came in with a team total of 604, nine stokes behind first place Allen. Plano West and Allen will move on to Lubbock for the Regional 1 tournament on April 16-17 at The Rawls Course - Texas Tech.

With Junior Jake Terry posting a 72 (1st place overall), Senior Nick Peccarelli and Sophomore Trevor Komenda 74, Junior Marc Johnson 75, Sophomore Shane Piel 76, Senior Cody Hardison 78 and Junior Luke Thomas 80. There were a total of 25 teams from around the state participating in the two day tournament. The team posted the following scores: Junior Marc Johnson 78-71=149, Senior Cody Hardison 77-75=152, Sophomore Trevor Komenda 79-74=153, Junior Luke Thomas 75-82=157 and Sophomore Shane Piel 84-85=169. The team came out strong with Junior Marc Johnson leading the pack with 75 (tied 1st overall), Junior Luke Thomas and Sophomore Trevor Komenda with 77 (tied 3rd overall), Senior Cody Hardison 81 and Junior Jake Terry 84. The Plano West Men's Varsity Golf Team participated in the Teeing it Off for the Troops at Gentle Creek Golf Club on Monday, February 27th. There were 20 teams participating. Plano West came in 6th place with a 325. Prestonwood Christian Academy won 1st place with a 317, Allen with 2nd place at 318 and Plano East with 3rd place at 321. It was a close tournament. On this windy day, Junior Marc Johnson, scored an 80. Junior Luke Thomas scored an 81, Sophomore Trevor Komenda and Junior Jake Terry tied with an 82 and Senior Cody Hardison rounded off the scores with an 83.

The team came in 3rd Place with a team score of 324, 4 shots behind 2nd place McKinney Boyd. Leading the Wolf pack were Sophomore Shane Brennan and Jason Arrington with a 78, Sophomore Preston Browne shot 81, Freshman Jumpei Mitsunari carded an 87, and Sophomore Alex Peccarelli with an 88.

The Plano West Lady Wolves played at The Old Brickyard in Mansfield on October 28 & 29 with some of the best women golfers in the state. The first day of the tournament the girls shot a team score of 330 with Sophomore Megan Thothong posting a score of 69. On day two the girls were ready and the scores showed it with a team total of 295 with Megan posting an amazing 67 for a two day total of 136 and 1st place overall. Posting some individual best rounds were Senior Lauren Cozzi 83-76=159, Junior Ally Jones 89-74=163, Sophomore Sara Kim 89-78=167, and Freshman Joann Chung 93-91=184. The Plano West Men’s Varsity Golf season began their season at the Bart Granger Invitational on September 16 and 17 one of the largest tournaments in Texas. The two day 54 hole event was shortened by rain to 36 holes. The Wolves posted a score of 603 tying for 12th place out of 51 teams.
