Message to the Ridgely Boy's Lacrosse Teams
April 6, 2011 The US Navy Seal Team has a saying, “Performance and performance alone dictates the predator in any food chain.” And there is only one way to improve your performance –Work harder & smarter than everyone else. To be successful, you must be “in” the game. If you are not “in” then you are out. There is no life in between.

It is that way in school, on the field, and in life. The lacrosse season is shorter than you think. Your time at Ridgely Middle is shorter than you think. Now is the time to step up, give 100% effort and focus at every practice, scrimmage and game. Leave it all on the field. Every time! No exceptions.

Make a pledge to yourself and your team:

• I will help my team mate get better by giving him my all in drills. I will push him as far and as hard to the extent of my physical abilities.

• I will challenge myself and my team mate and, in turn, demand the same from him.

• I will be a team player, a team leader, and the best team mate that I can possibly be.

• I will look for work and contribute at every available opportunity when on and off the field, keeping my goals in mind and working hard to accomplish them. I will accept nothing less than my best. I will not be silent. I will make a difference.

• I will be accountable for my own actions, never living life in between.

• I am in a boat heading toward a waterfall, but I am not whining about how bad my luck has turned; I am paddling! for my team mate & myself.

A long time ago, Marcus Aurelius said. “Its time to stop talking about being a good man. Be one”. I would paraphrase that to say, “Its time to stop talking about being a good player. Be one”

Play big Ridgely, use all of the tools you have been given,
