Coach Heiderscheit delivers the State Championship trophy Tuesday night - accepting the trophy is Commander Joe Brown of Legion Post 92. In attendance was the Legionaire Honor Guard, Coach Dave Anderson, Coach Brent Lichty, Jordan Stokes, Robin Hielskov and Coach Heiderscheit.

AN UNFORGETTABLE SEASON
Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that the Patriots would have gone as far as they did ? Well, I believe there were a lot of people that knew they had the talent and experience to be a Championship team. After just missing out on a trip to the High School State Tournament by 1 run in a game that went 12 innings earlier this spring, the Patriots had something to prove. This summer certainly did have a few up and downs but good teams find ways to persevere. The Patriots surely did that. The Patriots played in their third game of the Regional tournament today against a team from Michigan, they lost 8-1 , but they were the first team in Patriot history to win a game at a Regional tournament. Speaking of that win , it will be one of those games that you will never forget, being down 9-5 , the Patriots with their last at bat - comeback and win 10-9 in the bottom of the 9th - incredible, that shows a lot of desire and heart. Another memory that is forever etched in my mind is Brian Anderson's game tying homerun in the State title game, then in the bottom of the 9th inning with the game on the line, Brian Anderson fouls off at least 4- 5 pitches before delivering the game winning hit up the middle, Stokes scores and I see Coach Heiderscheit down the 3rd base line jump about 3 feet into the air pumping that fist knowing his team just won a State Title. Even going back to the district title game - beating Century twice to advance to the State tournament, these are just a few of the sweet memories that will forever be with Patriot Nation. Thank you to you Coaches - for being those guys that teach our kids the respect and the right way to approach the game of baseball as well as life.

PATRIOTS POWER THEIR WAY BACK TO STATE !!!
There was never a doubt that the Patriots could come into todays Championship play and win two games to capture the District title. For the third straight year Coach Heiderscheit will take his Patriots to the Legion State Tournament. The Patriots beat the A's Sunday afternoon convincingly 17-4 and 8-1. Alex Peterson, Derek Hovick, Matt Miller and Andrew Roble all homered in the first game. Andrew Roble started on the hill for the Patriots in game one and Robin Heilskov started game two. After the game Coach Heiderscheit congratulated his team on their wins and effort on the day - he praised their hard work. That hard work earned them a trip to the State Tournament which starts Thursday and will be held in New Ulm.

Patriots in position for Championship play Sunday
The Patriots lost to the A's 3-1 Saturday but won their 2nd game against Owatonna 7-6 to put themselves in position for another shot at the A's Sunday. They will need to win 2 games against the A's to advance to the State tournament next weekend. Taking the loss in the first game was Derek Hovick who pitched a complete game. Brian Anderson was the winning pitcher in game 2 going 8 innings and started the 9th but ended up loading the bases. Andrew Roble was brought in and got the Patriots out of the jam. Game time Sunday is 1:00.
