It's official, we have changed our name and colors for 2009! The host city has yet to be finalized but the choices have been narrowed to Sacramento and Elk Grove with Sacramento the likely choice. Please go to and save our new site:

Thanks to those who attended the meeting today. Once again, sorry we were a little late. I hope everyone is as excited about the 2009 season as we are. And for those of you that were unable to attend, you missed FREE pizza but we hope to see you at the next meeting.
When we got home, there was an email where the Wolverines made it official that they are merging with the North Valley Lions for 2009 and will be leaving the GCFL. We will update you tomorrow with the rest of the information that we learn in the meeting.
Also, I am going to start scheduling some car washes and I'll send out info as soon as I get dates. We are on vacation the first two weeks of July so we will make the first one the third weekend of July. Remember, the more events you help out with, the less you will have to pay for team fees. If you have ideas on where you think we can do car washes, please let me know. (Since I'm new to the area, I'm only looking around the Elk Grove and Arden areas.)
Finally, after the meeting, Raymond ended up at the hospital. Hopefully he will be a dad tonight. Lets all wish him our best and congrats!!! He's put a lot of hard work and time into the myspace page and will do the same for our new website.

STEELERS have great showing the at GCFL All-Star Game!!
Congrats to all of our Steeler All-Stars as they played well and showed the league what we're made of. 14 of the AFC's 17 points where made by Steelers. Art Gallow returned a interception for a TD to start the game's scoring and David Young caught a nice TD pass to finish out the half. In additon solid performances where turned in by all Steelers on both sides of the ball. It was a great way to finish out the season!
A very special thanks for all the players thier families for volunteer work during both the All-Star and championship games!!
Thanks again to everyone this season and I look forward to seeing everyone and new players for Saturday's meeting at Lampost Pizza!!

Alright guys. Due to the lack of team money, we will have to just have a team meeting. It will be at Lamppost Pizza on Franklin and Laguna @ 1pm on Saturday June 21st. THIS WILL BE FOR ALL CURRENT AND NEW PLAYERS. We will be getting food. Please email, call or send a myspace message to me so that we know how many people are coming.

The All Star game will be this Saturday, June 14th, at Pittsburg High School at 3:30 pm. Come out and support your fellow Steelers. Following the All Star game will be the Championship game between the Lawmen and the Rattlers. If you can help volunteer at the game please email or call Dan. The league needs all the help they can get and this will also help us pay the remaining balance that is due from our league fees. If you help out, we will take some off your fees for next year.
In addition, we are TRYING to plan a party for next weekend. Kristin and Mandy (Dan's wife) are trying to find a park that we can have it at. Hopefully we can figure this out soon and let everyone know by this weekend.
The league has an owners meeting on July 22nd and during that meeting the information for next year will finalized. We also are planning to have car washes for fundraisers and are planning charity activities that we can do. By helping out at the car washes, we will cut some off of your next years fees also. Please make sure that Dan or Kristin have your information so that we can communicate with everyone. (phone, email, myspace,.... whatever the best way to get ahold of you.)

STEELERS CLOSEOUT SEASON. Tne regular season may have ended with a 19-12 loss to the Rams, but the real story was the heart and dedication displayed on the field by the group that showed and laced up their cleats!
After a long season that surely taxed everyone, it was great to see just how we could come together and finally play as a team. The group that showed on Saturday against the Rams has my utmost respect and admiration! Many of us play out of position, both sides of the ball and some injuried and we never gave up, right till the end where we still almost pulled it out.
Enjoy your off season and mend any injuries you may have. We start back up in October and get ready for a completely new team!! A new head coach, uniforms, location and even team name are all in line for next year. Team fees are going to be $275.00 per player. If you want you can start paying now and spread it out over the next several months.
Sponsor packets, team fund rasing events and other info for next year can all be had from Dan. Send an email for more info:

Next and FINAL practice of the season is Friday May 16th at 6:30pm. Double credit towards next year's fees is extended to Saturday May 17th. If you want to take advantage bring money to the game. Saturday will be the absolute last chance to get double credit for next year!
Rams Game Info:
Last game of the regular season is against the Central Valley Rams in Stockton. Let's get a good turn out and finish the season on a high note!
Kickoff is at 6pm

Steelers win against Crusaders, 19-6. Steelers started out slow but came together when in counted, the defense played very well and agressive! The Crusaders have a small roster but played with alot of heart and respect.
Update on Randy: Randy broke his fibula (small bone in lower leg) and has some tendon damage. Talked to him today and he is doing good. Our best wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery!
Thank you to everyone that showed for the game and especially those that helped with the refs. Final game is against the Rams in Stockton and next practice is Wednesday May 14th at 6:30pm. We need a solid turnout and have alot to go over before our final game. Alot of info will be handed out regarding next season as well.
Remember last day to take advantage of the double credit for next year's fees is Friday May 16th, no exceptions!! Get your $$ into Dan before then. See everyone Wednesday, if you cannot make practice please call Dan or Kristin!!

Game this week against the Crusaders is in Woodland at Lee Middle School (same field as the Warriors game). Kickoff is at 3:30pm, arrive at the field by 1:00pm. We are wearing BLACK jerseys. Yes, black!!! If you have a jersey that needs numbers contact Dan or Kristin ASAP. To ensure we have enough jerseys, bring any black jersey you have. Bring your $$ to pracice on Friday!!

Steelers play tough but fall short.
The Steelers played a very tough game against the defending champion Wolverines. The scoring kicked off with the Steelers returning a fumble for a touchdown and a back and forth battle ensued. At the half the Steelers led West Sac 18-17. The see-saw battle continued well into the third quarter until the Wolverines began to pull away. A questionable call resulting in a fumble in the endzone and touchback for the Wolverines proved to be the heartbreaker for the Steelers.
The score may have ended 43-28 but the game was much closer. We again hung tough and fought hard. With everything that's gone on this year it's more than I could ask for. I'm proud of the effort put out by everyone last night. I look forward to finishing out the year on a positive note with our final two games.
Let's get a good turn out for practice this week and finish strong! See everyone Wednesday night at 6:30 and again great job!

We will be doing plenty of pregame drills and chalk talk. DO NOT be late!! This game is too important. This is the first step of our playoff run.
