Norman County East game notes
April 16, 2010 —
Sacred Heart hosted NCE for the first Northwest Diamond Conference game of the season. NCE won the game 16 to 5. The score was tied at 5 until the 5th when NCE used a combination of walks, errors and good hitting to break it open with 7 runs. Corey Roach, James Yoney and Michael Pietruszewski pitched for the Eagles. While we gave up a lot of runs, we saw some good things from each of them. We also learned a few things that will help us the next time on the mound. The hitting improved from our previous games. As a team we were averaging almost 10 "called" strikeouts per game. We finished this game with only 2 called 3rd strikes after focusing on it at practice. We also got some nice hits from Jake Cariveau, Christian Pagnac-Jundt and Caleb Wavra. Several others hit the ball well too.
Midway-Minto game notes
April 14, 2010 —
SH won a close game against Midway Minto on Friday night 5-2. Pitching and good defense dominated most of the night. Corey Roach started the game and gave up 2 runs as he ran out of gas in the 3rd inning. James Yoney came in and pitched effectively for 2 innings. Michael Pietruszewski finished the last 2 innings. All of the Pitchers did a nice job and the defensive was strong behind them . At the plate, we struggled a little. We are working on reducing the number of strike-outs we have as a team. It takes some time for hitters to find their timing at the plate so this is a common problem early in the season. We are seeing progress from all of the hitters as we get more practice. We did put together a few hits and scored 5 runs. Christian Pagnac-Jundt and Zak Kuznia both hit the ball very well.

Summer Baseball
January 4, 2010 —
We had a lot of fun playing baseball last summer. The number of kids playing exceeded our expectations. We will expand the schedule this year. We expect a full schedule of local games plus several tournaments. Players can still participate in the EGF city program but we will have a full schedule of our own. Players will still be able to play full time, part time or whenever they can. The number of kids interested in playing provides a lot of flexibility as we put together a schedule. Thank you for supporting Eagles Baseball!
