Rutgers SAFETY Course
ATTENTION ALL VOLUNTEER COACHES
The Springfield Recreation Department is hosting a Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Certification Course on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, from 6:00-9:00 pm, at the Chisholm Community Center. The subsidized cost is $25 per person (payable to Springfield Recreation Department).
Attendance at a Rutgers clinic is mandatory for all volunteer coaches. Once completed, this cerfication is valid forever. COACHES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN PRACTICES OR GAMES WITHOUT THIS CERTIFICATION AND AN UPDATED BACKGROUND CHECK.
The 3-hour program meets the state's "Minimum Standards for Volunteer Coaches Safety Orientation and Training Skills Programs" and provides partial civil immunity protection to volunteer coaches under the state's "Little League Law."

Mandatory Fingerprint & Background Check
In accordance with Springfield ORDINANCE NO. 2015-02, “Recreation Background Checks”, requires Criminal Background Checks for Recreation Employees and Volunteers.
The Background Check Form <HERE> must be completed and returned to the Recreation Department prior to coaches participating in practices or games.
