PLAYOFFS HAVE ARRIVED - GO THUNDER GO
February 2, 2013

The Lady Thunder PeeWee C team skated their way to a second winning regular season finishing 3rd with 10 wins, 8 losses, 4 ties and 24 points. It was a nice way to follow up thier 1st ever season last year by matching the number of wins in the win column. They added 48 goals and 50 penalty minutes to thier stats as well in 22 games.

First year goaltender G. Moore was solid through out the season and was awarded with 2 shut outs in her 1st year of girls rep hockey. Our defense played consistently solid and our forwards were able to find the back of the net through out most of the regular season. All in all ... A very consistent, hard working and fun team to watch.

LEAGUE PLAYOFFS (LLFHL) begin for the Lady Thunder this Sunday, February 3rd in Fenelon Falls @ 1:30pm against Cold Creek in our 1st Round Playoff Series. The winner of the series will face the Otonabee Wolverines (Keene) in the 2nd Round. The 2 teams that make it to Round 3 of the LLFHL Playoffs will go to the LLFHL Championship Weekend on March 22nd-24th for a chance to become this years LLFHL "PeeWee C" Overall Playoff Champions.

OWHA PLAYDOWNS have also started and our Lady Thunder will take on the Cold Creek Comets for thier 1st of five OWHA Playdown Games (see game schedule below). Only 1 team this will qualify for the OWHA Provincials this year and that team will be the team that finishes with the most points in the Single Round Robin Playdown Series that will include Ennismore, Otonabee, Lindsay, Bancroft, Cold Creek and of course your Lady Thunder. 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss will be awarded.

Below is a list of all LLFHL Playoff Games & OWHA Playdown GAMES - More games could be added if the Lady Thunder advances to the 2nd and 3rd Rounds in the LLFHL Playoffs:

NEW OWHA JUNOIR ASSOCIATES
September 2, 2011
Sturgeon Lake Thunder is very excited and extremely proud to INTRODUCE female hockey to the Sturgeon Lake and surrounding areas.

In June of 2011, Sturgeon Lake Thunder was granted approval by the Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA) to operate as a Junior Association that will begin play this 2011/2012 hockey season.

Through hard work, determination and numerous support, the girls draems have become a reality in the Sturgeon Lake Thunder Hockey world.

Stugeon Lake Thunder will strive to PROMOTE, ENCOURAGE, DEVELOP and PROVIDE a place for our young girls to continue participation in the game they love and enjoy playing with such a passion.

The Female program offers girls a choice as some girls will either quit playing all together or not enjoy playing with boys at the Peewee and higher levels.

The "LADY THUNDER" will operate under the umbrella of Sturgeon Lake Minor Hockey Association.
