OUR PROGRAM

Established  in  2007  the  Southshore  Youth  Sports  organization  is  a  non-profit  select sports organization based in Houston, TX 

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Southshore Youth Sports is to organize and administer a highly competitive and enjoyable sports program for male and female athletes while complimenting school programs.  Our players will compete against competitive teams at the state, regional and national levels.  This will provide our players the opportunity to become leaders and be noticed through their hard work, commitment, desire and talent. 

 

 


 

 

 

OUR COACHING PHILOSPHY:

 

We promise to challenge our players to their maximum potential in practice and in games. We play in tournaments that are very competitive.  Our record is not our first concern but is valued highly.  We believe players learn more from winning or losing by a few points to a great team rather  than trouncing a less competitive team by thirty points.  Good sportsmanship is mandatory on all occassions.

In order to be eligible for tryouts, you must complete the registration form BEFORE the day of tryouts. Go to www.leaguelineup.com/southshorewarriors; look under handouts for form.

HOW DO TRYOUTS WORK?

  1. Athletes should be prepared to do physical conditioning during tryouts.
  2. Athletes are evaluated on various basketball drills.
  3. Depending on the number of participants, some may be cut the first day of tryouts.
  4. We try to choose a team of approximately ten players. Each grade level is unique, so we use ten as a baseline and adjust up or down according to the number and type of participants we get.
  5. Make sure to bring your gym shoes and a water bottle to the tryouts.

Each player that is chosen for the team must participate in practices before they are eligible to play in a game. Those who are chosen will need:

·         Copy of Birth Certificate

·         Copy of Report Card

·         Registration Formed filled out

We have very high expectations on effort, attitude, and performance for the Southshore Youth Basketball program. Come ready to give your best every day. Good luck!
