Rickard Chosen By College Sports Madness
Former Bishop Gorman standout Joey Rickard of the University of Arizona has been chosen as a Pac 12 1st Team preseason All-Conference member by College Sports Madness. Rickard batted .347 as a sophomore last season.

Former CSN standout Gabe Weidenaar of Oklahoma State was touted as the 2nd Team utility player in the Big 12 conference.
Local College Sophomores On Center Stage
Several Las Vegas area college sophomores are expected to have big years in spotlight positions when the Division 1 season begins on February 17th.

Marshall pitcher Aaron Blair(Spring Valley HS) and University of San Diego pitcher Michael Wagner(Centennial HS)appear to have the inside track as their team's Friday Night starter for the 2012 season. Blair, who became the Marshall Friday Night starter late last season, will start the season opener for the Thundering Herd as they travel to play at NC State of the ACC. As for Wagner, USD head man Rich Hill stated in an interview with Perfect Game that Wagner is the likely Friday Night guy after having a stellar fall campaign.

Kris Bryant(Bonanza HS),also for USD, has been named the West Coast Conference pre-season Player of the Year as well as a pre-season All-American. Former Bishop Gorman star Johnny Field, now at University of Arizona, became a starter for U of A about halfway through last season and will be counted on heavily to be a big run producer hitting somewhere in a very strong Wildcat lineup.

UNLV's Zach Hartman(Arbor View HS) will also be one of the Hustling Rebels big guys on the mound after being named to the Louisville Slugger All-Freshman team last season as the closer for UNLV. It still hasn't been determined whether Zach will remain the closer or be moved to the weekend rotation.
College Baseball Season Openers Right Around Corner

I will try to keep you updated on all the games that involve players from the Las Vegas area as well as other action around the country. I will also keep you posted on the 2012 MLB player draft and all the changes that have happened since the new MLB collective bargaining agreement was signed late this year. Feel free to send me an email with any scores or if you have any game photos you would like me to post.
