LSBA 14Maj/10Maj/9Maj teams all SHINED at the Spring Fling Tourney!!!!
The 10Maj Stars took 1st place at the Spring Fling in Oak Villa this past wknd 3/17-3/18. After (3) runner-up finishes in the beginning of the season, the Stars earned their 1st Championship of the season in a very competitive field of teams. The Stars went 1-1 on Saturday during pool play then rebounded nicely on Sunday beating the Toros 8-4 in game 1, then the #2 ranked team in the state Ascension Rays 9-6 in the semi's, then beat Velocity Baseball 14-4 in the Championship. Great Job Boys!!!
The 14Maj Stars took 2nd place in a very competitive field of teams throughout the state. The Stars would go 0-2 on Saturday, but rebounded nicely defeating a very good Spartans team, whom the Stars were win less against prior to Sunday. The Stars won game one 4-2 lead by an outstanding pitching performance by LJ Ballast, sending the Spartans home early. The Stars then squared off against the number 1 Seed, Knights Baseball beating them 9-3 with another great pitching performance by Cody Sposito. The Stars would then face off against the Louisiana Blast once again in the Championship and was lead by CJ Estave on the mound as he too had a solid performance for the Stars and after 3 complete it was a 1-1 ball game, then would eventually fall 6-1 to the Blast. The Stars rebounded nicely after an 0-2 start on Saturday, this is a special group of players that will be looking to make some noise in he 14Maj division.
The 9Maj Stars finished in 3rd place out of 11 top teams in the state, the Stars played extremely well this wknd for only their 3rd tourney ever as a team. Once again, these little guys earned more respect from all the opposing teams. This age group was filled with the most talented group of teams as this tourney will be similar to what to expect at the State Tourney in June. The Stars went 1-1 on Saturday during pool play to find themselves as the 7th seed out of 11 teams. The Stars would face off against Marucci Elite in game one with an awesome come from behind victory against the hot bats of the Marucci squad, winning 8-7. The Stars then advanced to the quarter finals having to face the Diamond Kings out of Denham Springs. Th Stars took an early lead and never looked back, beat the Diamond Kings 14-4 and advancing to the Semi's. The Stars would have to get past the Big Easy Black once again as they defeated them on Saturday to advance to the finals. The Stars played their little butts the entire game as the score was tied 2-2, Big Easy would eventually come away with the win 8-5 as the Stars late rally would come up short. We are very proud of these guys on well they are playing as a team since we have only been together since January of this year. This team is getting better every week, watch for them to make a lot of noise as the season continues.
The LSBA went a disappointing 2-4 on Saturday as whole, then rebounded nicely on Sunday as they went 7-2, finishing 9-6 on the wknd. Great job boys!!! We are now preparing as both the 9Maj and 10Maj will playing in Gulf Shores in another Super NIT in two weeks.

Both the STARS 10Maj (11-6) and 14Maj (13-6) teams shined on the field throughout the '11 Fall Season with a combined organization record of 24-12. The STARS continued their winnings ways from the Spring season which ended only a few short months ago. The STARS finished the '11 Spring season with combined record of 123-51 and look to carry that winning tradition into the upcoming '12 season. Right now the STARS are beginning their off-season Strength and Conditioning Programs while they also continue to fine tune their hitting/fielding/pitching at practices twice a week.
The STARS Baseball Academy are proud to announce the new addition in welcoming the STARS 9U team to the STARS Baseball Family. The STARS 9U team will have their first practice on Saturday 12/17. We are very excited to have another talented group of players/families to represent the STARS Baseball Academy. With continuous hard work and dedication, we expect this team to continue the winning tradition and expect to be one of the top teams in the state at the end of the season. The official rosters of all three teams will be posted shortly.
14Maj Stars Win Again, 10Maj Stars Take 2nd In The Christmas Tourney!!!!
Recap of the Great Wknd to be posted shortly!!
Stars 14Maj Take 1st Place at the November Classic!!!!!!!!
Stars 14Maj Earn their second championship of the Fall going 3-1 in the November Classic at LaSalle. This championship comes after a disappointing 0-1-2 showing at the Fall State tourney just a week prior. The Stars were eager to get back to their winning ways as Cole Sisung led the way offensively going 6 for 7 in the semis and championship game. Sisung, twice started a two out rally with singles to right center to get the Stars on the board. Luke Butler and Sean Tweedy shined on the mound in the final two games as they combined for 11 innings of work, each surrendering 3 hits, and only allowing 1 run. The Stars are scheduled to return to action on Dec. 3rd in the Christmas Tourney at Val Reiss in Chalmette.
Stars 14Maj Team Earn National Recognition!!!!!!!!!!!

Stars 14Maj Take First Place in tne Cypress Mounds Spooktacular Tourney!!!
Stars 14Maj take 1st place in the Cypress Mounds Spooktacular Tourney. The Stars had a rough day on Saturday finishing the day at 0-1-1, receiving the 4th seed while needing to win three games to win the tourney. The Stars did just that, Matt Richardson started the first game against Traction Baseball. Even though the Stars were out hit in this game, Matt battled their hitters and eliminated their chances of having (2) big innings, allowing the Stars to hold on to their lead and earn their first win of the day.
Game two was against the number one seed, the New Orleans Hurricanes. The Hurricanes had beaten the Stars on Saturday 10-2 as that wasn't the case this time. Sean Tweedy pitched a gem Striking out 9 hitters while only allowing two runs. Tweedy dominated as he set the tempo from the first inning as the hot bats of the Hurricanes knew they were going to have their work cut out for them if they wanted to win the game. The Stars and Tweedy earned the win beating the Hurricanes 7-2.
The Stars then squared off against the very talented Central Shockers in the championship game. C.J. Estave from Franklinton (far far away, lol), gave the Stars another "STAR" quality performance on the mound as Estave was lights out against the Shockers. Estave, did a great job of keeping the Shocker hitters off balanced the entire game as he pitched 4 1/3 innings allowing only 5 hits, 0 walks, and 6 strikeouts, throwing 50 strikes and 18 balls. The Stars scored first in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a lead off single to left field by Nick Lagalantes. Then with 2 outs, Lagalantes steals home off the catchers lob back to the pitcher to take a 1-0 lead. The Stars would then score 4 more runs to take a 5-0 lead heading into the top of the 4th. The Stars would then have an 8-0 lead in the last inning, then a few costly errors and timely hitting by the Shockers gave them new life as the score was 8-6, with 1 out, and a runner on first. Luke Butler (aka Matte, Cardinals closer), who had missed the first two games from not feeling well, came out of the pen to FINISH the game and helped the Stars EARN their first championship of the new season. This was a total team effort and a great way to bounce back after a rough two games on Saturday.
Would also like to mention, the Stars were lead by the new (Assistant/ Head Coach)!! Coach Mario Ortiz led the Stars in the first two games on Sunday leading up to the championship. Coach Mario is a great fit with the Stars organization as he proved this wknd that he can lead any team to victories and championships. The Stars Baseball Academy is honored to have such a great Coach/Mentor added to our Baseball Family.
The Stars are scheduled to play again on Nov. 12th for the Fall State Tourney at Cypress Mounds. Stay tuned...
1st Annual STARS Baseball Banquet A Success!!!!!!
The STARS Baseball Academy had their first annual baseball banquet on Saturday evening (8/13) at Franco's Athletic Club in Mandeville. The seventy plus supporters of the STARS Academy had the privilege of listening to two guest speakers, Wally Pontiff (A Catalano dear family friend and Mentor to both Coach Wayne and Coach Chad) and the current head coach of Pope John Paul High School in Slidell and former college teammate at SLU of Coach Chad, Andrew Hickman. Both guest speakers did a fantastic job as Coach Wally spoke about life and family values tied in with baseball as Coach Hickman also touched on the importance of family and spoke about the obstacles he had to over come in high school and college and the baseball achievements he has experienced and at the young age of 24, he received his first head coaching position is all due to hard work and determination. We couldn't have asked for two better speakers than Coach Wally and Coach Hickman, the STARS baseball family would like to Thank you for your time and for the knowledge inspiration you shared with us all.
After the guest speakers finished up, it was now time for the awards to be handed out. This year, we had (6) individual awards for both teams that were chosen by all the players. The results were all so close that the nominations had to counted three times to ensure the correct results. Every STAR player received a nice Plaque with a team picture and an inscription of the teams season success on the bottom. Congrats to both 9U & 13AAA STARS as they finished the season with a combined organization record of 123-51, along with 15 Championships, 5 Runner-Ups, a 13AAA North State Runner-Up finish, and a 9U top 15 finish at the "Elite 32" World Series in Disney World. Our Philosophy- "We do not play against our opponents or the score, We play against the Ball"
Mission Statement- At STARS Baseball Academy (SBA), we have designed a program to enhance a player's fundamentals for the game of baseball. Our goal is to help each player as a person and a baseball player, so that he has an opportunity to not just make his high school team but be a contributor to that team. The staff at SBA realize that improvement is a process and not a single event. The goal is a persistent honest effort over time and with hard work and dedication, results will follow. At SBA, we offer the opportunity to all players/parents in the organization to receive the finest baseball instructional information available. As well as create a disciplined practice/game environment that requires responsibility of both players and parents.
We are now entering our fourth year with the organization and would like to announce that we look to field a total of three competitive teams (10Maj, 10AA/AAA, & 9U/AA) this Fall and look to continue the winning tradition here at SBA both on and off the field. At SBA, our goal is to expand as an organization with a new age group/team after each season so more families/players have an opportunity to compete at the highest level possible. We are excited about the 2011/2012 season and know that in order to be a special player/person, we must do something special everyday. The road to success begins right now, here at STARS Baseball Academy.
STARS Baseball Academy General Guidelines To A Successful Organization: - We believe in teaching accountability, respect and discipline regarding the family, school work and the team. - The team parents are the best support system any organization could hope to have. - The coaching staff consists of coaches that have competed at the high school, college and professional levels. - We all understand the mental/physical development process of training. - We have our own training facility complete with batting cage, bullpens and a field located in Mandeville, La.
Two 9U STAR Pitchers Shine On The Mound!!!!!!!
Two 9U STAR pitchers have recently shined on the mound in their recent outings throwing a Perfect Game and a No-Hitter!!! Jacob Mouriz and Paker Serio have both accomplished what some pitchers never achieve during a full career, not to mention earning these accomplishments in their first year of kid pitch at the age of 9. Mouriz, pitched the second game of pool play in the State tourney for the STARS and had no idea what he had accomplished after 3 innings or work. With the score 19-0 after three innings, the game was called because of the 15 run rule and Mouriz had faced only 9 batters throwing a 3 inning PERFECT GAME!!!! Not only was Mouriz unaware of this rare accomplishment, but I too as the coach was unaware until the third out was made and saw the reactions from the stands and coach Wayne with excitement. I will never forget the look on this little guys face as he learned of his accomplishments. Serio, AKA (smiley, rooster) took the mound in the first game of single elimination on Sunday against the 10AAA Red Sox and lead the STARS to the championship game yet again. Once again, nor Serio and I realized as the game was over that there was more significance then just another win for the now 77-17 STARS 9U team. Serio had just thrown a complete game NO-Hitter!!! The Fans in the stands may have thought Serio knew what he had accomplished by the smile on his face but they are unaware that his smiling face is stuck like that 24/7. It wasn't brought to our attention until later that evening what young Parker had accomplished. Again, both Mouriz and Serio have accomplished something that some pitchers never get a chance to experience throughout their entire careers. Congrats to both boys as they both have a game ball to commemorate their outstanding achievements.

Pool play game #2 STARS Baseball vs. Duncaville Panthers (Texas) Stars are currently 2-0 in pool play as they won their second game today 6-5. Thursday 7/7: The STARS earned the #2 seed after pool play going 3-0....The Stars played their first game in double elimination backet play today at 4:00 against the Texas Bucks. The Stars were down 2-0 after the top of the 1st inning but the Stars would get 1 run in the bottom of the 1st, cuting the lead down to 1 run. The Stars would then take a 3-2 lead after the 3rd inning as Luke Butler silenced the bats of the bucks, pitching a solid 3 2/3 innings holding the Bucks to only 2 runs. Sean Tweedy came in with 2 outs and the bases loaded to face the Bucks top hitter. Tweedy would find himself in a battle as the batter worked Tweedy to a full count, Tweedy blew a fast ball right past the hitter to get out of the jam. The Stars would score 4 runs in the last inning to beat the Bucks 7-2. The Stars play their 2nd bracket play game tomorrow at 2:00pm against the winner of the Alvin Express (Arkansas) vs. Tall City Stars (Texas).. Stay tuned for tomorrows results.
Friday 7/8: The STARS lost both their games on Friday, eliminating them from the tourney. Both loses were tough as the STARS just couldn't manufacture any runs with runners in scoring position and had some costly errors which allowed the opponents an easier route to victory. The STARS still had a good showing, going 4-2 for the tourney, winning 1st place in the "around the horn" throwing competition, and winning 1st place in the banner competition during opening ceremonies (Huge THANKS Again To Mr. Kenny Burger). The Stars look to play in two more tourneys at pelican park the next two weekends before their season comes to an end and are looking to earn their 50th win of the season.

The STARS 9U were back to their winning ways this past wknd 6/25, winning the "10AA" Fontainbleau Invitational going 5-0 on the wknd and improving their overall record to an amazing 75-16 on the season. The STARS played GREAT ball all wknd and squared off against the hot bats of Mandeville Mayhem in the Championship game, coach by Chuck Hickman. The STARS pitching staff silenced the bats of Mayhem and received amazing defensive plays throughout the entire game, as the STARS would earn the victory 7-1 and claim their 13th Championship on the season.
9U STARS Take 5th Out Of 29 Team In State Tourney Going 3-1 & Earned Their 70th Win On The Season!
The 9U STARS fell short of their main goal of the season, "Winning State", but accomplished their second goal by earning their 70th win of the season. The STARS now have their sights on the two remaining goals of the season, 1) Earn 40 wins 2) Win the World Series... STARS Baseball 13AAA Currently Ranked #1 In The State & 9U STARS Currerntly Ranked 3rd Respectively!
The STARS 13AAA team is currently ranked #1 in the State in the Power Rankings even after a disappointing 3rd place finish in the Velocity Baseball Tourney on 4/2. The STARS MUST continue to work hard to maintain this status. The STARS 9U team is currently ranked 3rd in the state respectively as they have been playing in tougher tourney's against a lot tougher competition. In the last 3 tourney's, 8 out of the last 10 games were against Nationally ranked/recognized teams, the STARS are competing hard and are eager to regain their #1 status within the next couple of weeks. The STARS 9U team is headed to Gulf Shores, AL for another Super NIT as they will be competing for that prestige birth to the Elite 32 World Series, competing against the #3 team in the Nation, the Dothan Warriors. Also the 9U STARS are heading to Gulf Shores on April 9th to play in another Super NIT as they look to capture one of the prestige Elite 32 World Series berths. Stay tuned for all upcoming Tourney results.
STARS 13AAA Rebound Beating St. Paul's 8th Grade Team After A Tough Wknd Going 1-2
The STARS 13AAA team traveled to St. Paul's for a weekday game against the SPS 8th grade team. The STARS were coming off their worst wknd performance of the year and were eager to get back on track. The STARS would jump out to an and early 8-0 lead after the top of the 1st as they took advantage of some SPS errors. The STARS received a quality pitching performance from Cody Marshall who did a great job of keeping the Wolves off balance during his two innings of work. The STARS would extend their lead to 14-1 but would allow the Wolves to get 6 runs all on 2 outs in the 4th inning. The STARS brought in Cameron Cole (Cam will be joining the Wolfpack as he will be attending SPS in the Fall), Cole came in and stopped the bleeding as he pitched 1 1/3 innings of no-hit ball, keeping the STARS ahead. The STARS would then bring in Peyton Harris to drive the final three nails in the Wolves coffin, Harris held the Wolves scoreless and secured the STARS victory over the Wolves 15-7. This was a huge win for the STARS as both the 9's and 13's are using this week to prepare for the SUPER NIT tourney with all the top teams in the south states in attendance. Good Luck to both 9U & 13AAA STARS!!!!
STARS 9U Currently Ranked 12th In The Nation By Travelballselect.com!!!!
Congrats to the STARS 9U players and parents as they are currently ranked as the 12th team in the Nation by Travel Ball Select. This is a great accomplishment, as we are competing with other national powerhouse teams from Florida, Texas, California, and Georgia, all these teams recruit throughout their region and beyond as the STARS are all based out of a 50 mile radius from the New Orleans and Mandeville area. The STARS are aware of the fact "it's not how we start the season, but how we finish is what people will remember the most." The STARS are scheduled to face two very high ranking opponents on 3/19 vs. Velocity Baseball and the Storm out of Biloxi. Both teams are considered top teams in their respective divisions. Again, congrats to all STARS 9U players and parents for this great early achievement.
STARS 13's Shine At The St. Paul's 8th Grade Tourney!!!!!
The STARS 13's played in the St. Paul's Classic on 3/12 against all 8th grade teams, as the STARS are all one full year beyond the competition. The STARS played the entire weekend, earning a lot of respect from the opposing teams players and fans. The STARS squared off against Brother Martin in game #1, the STARS had surrendered a five run lead heading into the bottom of the last inning and eventually losing by the final of 9-8. We learned as a team, even if we have a big lead, we must have the mentality that the game is a 0-0 ballgame and no runners should score. The STARS would then face the host, St. Paul's in the night cap. St. Paul's capitalized on a number of STARS errors and took a 11-1 lead heading into the top of the last inning, but the STARS proved they know how to compete and fight back. The STARS would score 9 runs in the top of the frame, only to lose by the score of 11-10. The STARS proved to themselves that no matter the score/inning they are never out of the game. The STARS returned to action on Sunday evening against Pope John Paul's Junior high team and the STARS offense and defense came together at the same time as the STARS beat PJP by a score of 11-3. The STARS then faced St. Paul's again on Monday evening and showed a lot of character throughout the entire game. SPS, took advantage of 3 errors by the STARS that scored three runs, but the STARS never gave up the entire game. The STARS would again drop this game by the score of 5-4, but I know the STARS earned a great deal of respect from all the SPS Coaches, Players, and Fans that evening. The STARS may have only went 1-4 on the weekend, but considering they played 60/90 distances and not 54/80 which they are currently playing. They played extremely hard and never gave up the entire weekend and were right there in every game really says a lot about this team and the damage they can do on the field. Stay tuned as the 13AAA STARS are heading to SBBA this weekend for a very competitive tourney as they will face some top major teams.

This is a new team that was formed in time to take advantage of the fall 2011 season to blend together a team consisting of a 12 man roster that can play as a unit. Judging from their fall season record, it appears that they accomplished that goal.
Thus far this year as 9U’s, the Stars have compiled a 29-3 record while competing in USSSA tournaments held during this past fall. They have won 6 of their 7 USSSA tournament appearances and finished as the Runner-up the other. Their key wins include 2 NIT level Championships to go along with winning the USSSA Fall State Championship (beating out a very good LA Rip Freshman team to take that title).
We expect this team continue to improve and become a solid contender among teams from the Southeast as the season moves along. Clearly, we rate these Stars as an up-and-coming team to watch.
STARS 9's Take 1st Improving To 44-6, As The 13's Take 2nd Finishing Strong On The Weekend!!!!!

The STARS went 1-1 on Saturday in pool play dropping the 2nd game 3-2 to the Southern Storm while committing 5 errors, allowing 3 unearned runs in the lost. The STARS returned to action on Championship Sunday ready to compete for 1st. The STARS were facing a good Westbank Ripp team in the semi-finals. The STARS showed no mercy as they scored 9 runs and received a solid pitching performance from Devin Smith going 4 innings, while Luke Butler came in to pitch a scoreless 5th to secure the victory. The STARS then faced the Southern Storm in the championship as this would be a rematch from the last tourney when both teams met in the championship with the Storm coming out on top. The STARS made sure history didn't repeat itself, as the STARS received an outstanding pitching performance from lefty Sean Tweedy, as Tweedy went five innings and shutting out the hot bats of the Southern Storm. The STARS offense was led by the hot Preston Serio going 4 for 4, both Tweedy and Serio lead the way to secure the STARS 1st championship of the 2011 season.
The STARS play again on 2/26 in the Tiger Town Showdown in Walker as the they will play up this wknd in the Major division.
9U STARS Win The Early Bird Classic Going 4-0, Improving Their Record To 33-3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
STARS 9's Finish The Fall Season At (29-3) After Winning The Christmas Baseball Tourney!!!!
The STARS 9U team (29-3) finishes the Fall Season with another Championship at the Christmas Tourney. It was a tough battle the entire weekend as the STARS had to battle back to win 4 out of the 5 games played this weekend. The STARS remained calm and believed in themselves and each other as they played together the entire weekend which all paid off at the end of the frigid Sunday evening. Congratulations to ALL STAR players and parents for a very successful Fall Season. The STARS Baseball Family would like to wish everyone a very Safe and Happy Holidays!!!!
STARS 9's Finish The Fall As STATE CHAMPS, As The 13's Finish 3rd Respectably Out of 11 Teams!!!
9U: The STARS 9U finish the Fall Season As STATE CHAMPS!!!!!! The STARS Finish the Fall with an overall record of 25-2, this is an outstanding accomplishment considering these group of boys started playing together only three months ago. This team really gelled quickly and worked extremely hard throughout the entire Fall knowing they must improve from their previous weekend's performances. The STARS entered the State Tourney as early favorites as one of the top teams to compete for the title, but knew they would have to play close to perfect baseball to earn the STARS Baseball Academy's 1st State Title.
The STARS began pool play early Saturday morning against a very good opponent, the Baton Rouge Bullets. The STARS knew this was an early test as the Bullets are one of the top teams in the state that has been playing together as a team since they were 6 yrs old. The STARS received great pitching performances from both Jacob Mouriz and Logan Ledet as they both combined for a 4 inning shutout as the STARS come out on top with a 6-0 victory against the Bullets. The STARS then faced Team Elite in their second pool play game. Team Elite was playing in their first tourney and you would have never guessed it, as Elite was silencing the STARS bats and made a strong comeback in the last inning cutting the STARS lead from five, to one run with the tying run on third with 2 outs. Colby Smith, kept his composure and got the hitter to ground out to SS and helped lead the STARS to their 2nd win of the day. The STARS had a great day Saturday, they went 2-0 while only allowing 4 runs on the day which helped them earn the #1 seed going into Championship Sunday.
The STARS squared off against the Mandeville Stingrays for the third time this Fall. The Stingrays have definitely improved as a team since the STARS faced them in the beginning of the Fall. The Stingrays jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The STARS players kept their composure as they responded with 6 runs of their own in the bottom of the frame and cruised to a 17-7 victory to advance to the semi-finals. The STARS had to get pass the Baton Rouge Bullets once again in order to advance to the Championship game. This game was played with a championship atmosphere as the STARS led the first 3 innings 2-1. Wyatt Vaughn made an outstanding play at the plate as he fielded a bunt as the Bullets tried to squeeze a run in. Vaughn, fielded the ball in stride and went into football mode as he sprinted to the plate and tagged the runner out by a step. The STARS would remain in the lead until the Bullets would then capitalize on two crucial errors committed by the STARS as the Bullets took a 6-2 commanding lead. The STARS once again remained calm and confident as they headed into the last inning. The Bullets pitcher began to experience fatigue and the STARS capitalized by loading the bases. With the pressure building, the STARS had the winning run on third base with one out. The Bullets managed to throw out the winning run at the plate with one out keeping themselves in the game. With Casey Artigues coming to plate and the winning runner again on third base, the STARS were trying to distract the pitcher to either force a balk or a pass ball to score the winning run. The STARS eventually won the game with the opposing pitcher committing a balk as he stopped his motion in the middle of his delivery and the STARS were heading to their 6th consecutive championship game.
The STARS would face a very good Louisiana Rip team out of Kenner in the championship. The Rip threw their ace who only allowed 2 runs in four innings of work giving the Rip a great chance of winning the title, but the STARS Parker Serio had a plan of his own. Serio, pitched four innings keeping the Rip hitters off balance and keeping the STARS in the game. The Rip would eventually tie the game at two in the top of the of the 5th inning. Once again for the third time on Sunday, the STARS remained calm and collective as they answered with 4 runs to take a 6-2 lead heading into the bottom of the 6th inning and only three outs away from becoming STATE Champions. Logan Ledet, entered in the game to relieve Serio and closed the door only allowing one run to score as the STARS were victorious with the final score of 6-3 against a very good LA Rip squad. The Championship game was a nail bitter all the way to the end as both teams fought hard the entire game. The LA Rip squad will definitely be a team to watch out for when the Spring Season begins.
The STARS will be off for the rest of November and have two practices during the December, they will be starting back up again in January to start preparing for the Spring Season. The STARS Family would like to wish everyone a very Happy and Safe Holidays.
13AAA's: Congratulations to the Stars Baseball Academy 13 year Old AAA Team who placed 3rd in this weekend’s Fall State Tournament held in Baton Rouge at Cypress Mounds Park. This year’s Fall State Tournament featured 11 Teams throughout Louisiana, including 4 Major Teams, 7 AAA Teams and 1 AA Team. The Goal of the Stars on Saturday’s Pool Play round was to win both games while not allowing more than 4 total runs. Opening game was against Velocity Baseball a very tough and familiar opponent of the Stars having played them and won two times during the season. . The Stars pitching was very effective as well as great defense. Early on the Stars bats came to life as they won game #1 by a score of 4 to 1. Game two placed the Stars against another familiar opponent the Panthers having won but it was a very close game. The Stars played a well balance game with consistent pitch, defense and hitting hold to Panthers to 3 runs while scoring 5 for a 5-3 victory. Not only did the Stars accomplish both goals (in winning both games and only giving up 4 total runs), they came out of Saturday’s Pool play as the #1 seed heading into Sunday. Sunday’s 1st game opponent was the Surge Baseball Team coming off their 1st game victory 5-1 over the Louisiana Lazers. The Surge jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on the Stars after 2 complete innings. As the Stars pitching settled down and the bats came to life, the Stars rolled to a 6-3 victory, moving them to the Semi- Finals. Game #2 (Simi Finals) had the Stars playing a well talented Majors Team the Voodoo Baseball Club. This talented club has players from several States across the country and play in High Levels of Tournaments across the South. The Stars knew they would have to bring their A game in order to win the battle. After allowing the Voodoo jump out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning, the Stars refused to quit and had battled back to a 8-2 ball game after 4 innings. Each new Star Pitcher gave their best effort in keeping the Voodoo off balance at the plate and fought to the last out, only to go down fighting 9-3.
Congratulations go out to the Voodoo who went on to win the Championship Game against the Jackhammers 7-1. As we look back at the Stars Fall Season, it is very encouraging to see that the 13 year old Stars were 7-2 in the last two Tournament of the year. This can only lead to bigger and greater expectations when the summer league begins. Congratulations to you all and a Big Thank You to our Parents and Supporters throughout the Fall Season.

STARS 13AAA This was the 2nd Tourney of the year for the STARS as they really showcased their talent the entire weekend. The STARS went 1-1 on Saturday beating the Lafayette Gators the first game, while dropping the 2nd game to a very good Cajuns Baseball (Major) team. The Cajuns is a team consisting of kids from four different Major teams from the '10 season. The STARS received the #4 seed for bracket play on Sunday and faced Velocity Baseball, a new AAA team with players from different teams from the '10 season. The STARS have faced the majority of these players from the previous seasons and knew it was going to be a good game. The STARS took an early 7-1 lead as they received a quality pitching performance from Matt Richardson and great defensive plays from Left Fielder Peyton Harris. The STARS really shined against a very good In-Class opponent, as the STARS came away with a 7-5 victory. The STARS then had to face the Cajuns again as they threw their Ace for the second time against us in to days. The STARS took an early 2-0 lead but the Cajuns would then take the lead and eventually beat the STARS to advance to the championship. The STARS 13's played extremely well on the weekend and you can expect to see great things from this special group of young men when the Spring Season rolls around. There is still a lot of work to do and the STARS know that to be a special team they must do something special everyday.

STARS 9AA Ranked #1 In The Nation!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations to the STARS 9AA team as they are currently ranked as the number #1 team in the Nation. The boys are very deserving of this accomplishment as they have been working extremely hard at practice and playing excellent baseball in all their tourney's. This accomplishment is a total team effort including all the parents, as the parents are considered the best support group any organization can have. I'm very honored to have the opportunity to share this spacial time with all the STAR families as this will be something both the players and parents will cherish for the rest of their lives. The STARS know they must remain Humble and continue to work even harder at practice to perform better then their previous practice/game. Again, congratulations to the all the STARS 9's and to all families in the STARS Organization.
STARS 9AA WIN AGAIN!!!! 13-0 On The Season!!!!
The STARS 9AA win their 3rd consecutive Tourney, improving their record to 13-0 on the season. The boys squared off against the Louisiana Cubs from Ponchatoula for the 2nd day in a row. The STARS knew the Cubs were ready for revenge and knew they would be ready to give the STARS their 1st lost of the season. That wouldn't be the case as Jacob Mouriz shined on the mound for the 2nd day in a row starting the game off with only throwing eight pitches ALL strikes and retiring the side 1,2,3. The STARS beat the Cubs with a final score of 9-6, as the STARS would advance to their 3rd consecutive championship game. The Louisiana Cubs played very well for their 1st Tourney and will only keep getting better throughout the season.
The STARS faced the hot bats of the Ascension Angels in the championship game. After watching the Angels play their previous 2 games throughout the day, the STARS knew they were going to have their work cut out for them as the Angels were playing great baseball all day. The STARS surrendered 2 unearned runs in the top of the 1st but that's all the runs the Angels would get for the remainder of the game. The STARS played great defense and received quality pitching performances from both Parker Serio and Anthony Dumas. The STARS defeated the Angels by a score of 17-2 as they EARNED their 3rd consecutive Championship.
The STARS are scheduled to head to Cypress Mounds on 10/9. The Stars will be back at work on the practice field on Tuesday in preparation for another competitive Tourney with a field of 9 other teams scheduled to compete for a championship.
STARS 9's Earn Their 3rd Consecutive #1 Seed
The STARS 9's earn their 3rd consecutive #1 seed after going 2-0 on Saturday in the Fall Fever Tourney at LaSalle playground. The STARS played a very good Louisiana Cubs team out of Ponchatoula, as this was opening day for the Cubs. The STARS were led offensively by Casey Artigues, Nick Turner, and Colby Smith, all three each had a hit in the 1st inning to help the STARS in their 6 run first inning. The STARS struggled on the mound as they allowed 11 free passes but the boys battled as they eliminated "the big inning" by allowing 5 runs and gave the STARS bats the opportunity to earn the victory with a final score of 8-5.
The STARS had to turn around and play their 2nd game right away as they squared off against the Louisiana Astros out of Ascension parish. Parker Serio and Jacob Mouriz both shined on the mound they only surrendered 2 hits while allowing 2 runs and giving the STARS bats an opportunity to attack once again. The STARS offense was lead by Logan Ledet and Tyler Domiano, Ledet hit the long ball as he touched all the bases for an in-the-park home run and Domiano leads off the bottom of the 2nd with a line drive single which started a 5 run inning. The STARS win big against the Astros 12-2 but the boys will once again have their work cut out for them as they return to action on Sunday ready to compete for their 3rd consecutive championship.
9AA STARS Earn Their 2nd Championship Remaining Undefeated At 9-0 On The Season!!!!!!
The STARS 9AA team competed in Gulport Mississippi on 9/25 earning their 2nd consecutive Championship remaining undefeated at 9-0 on the season. The boys Squared off against the Thunder in the semi-finals and scored an amazing 15 runs in the bottom of the 1st and received quality pitching once again by Seth Dadar and Colby Smith. The STARS competed hard and moved to 8-0 with an 18-5 victory over the Thunder. The STARS then faced a very good Thunder Dawgs team in the championship as both teams were battling back and forth for the lead. There was a 30 minute rain delay after the 1st inning with the STARS trailing 2-1. The delay had no effects on the STARS performance, the boys returned back to action taking an 8-6 lead in the bottom of the 4th with the rain coming down yet again. The field was ruled unplayable by the umpires and with the game stopped in the 4th inning, the game becomes official and the STARS EARNED their 2nd consecutive championship. Congratulations to the STARS as they will enjoy the victories for a short time and will return back to work at practice on Tuesday.
9's Finish The Day 2-0 Earning #1 Seed, As 13's Go 1-1 On Opening Day Respectively
STARS Baseball sent both the 9's and 13's to Gulfport to compete against quality teams outside of Louisiana and finish the day 3-1 as an organization.
The 9's finish the day with a 2-0 record as they move to 7-0 on the season. The STARS played extremely well in both games with a combination of great pitching and defense. The STARS scored a combine 22 runs while only allowing 2 runs on the day earning the #1 seed after pool play for two consecutive weekends. The STARS are looking to capture their second consecutive championship tomorrow and know they must carry over the momentum from today to tomorrow.
The 13's went 1-1 on opening day, respectively. The team consist of six new players and with only having one practice, they showed a lot of promise for the upcoming season. The boys are looking forward to playing tomorrow in bracket play and continue learning to gel together as a new team.
STARS Are Currently Ranked 1st In State and 4th Nationally
The 9AA STARS after Opening Weekend are currently ranked #1 in the State and are ranked 4th in the Nation. This is a well deserved accomplishment as the STARS do realize and understand that if you practice hard and never stop competing, success will follow. The STARS will be back at work on Tuesday for practice to continue on improving their skills and preparing for their next tournament. Congratulations to the 9AA STARS!!!!!!!!!
STARS 9AA Take 1st Place On Opening Weekend
The 9AA STARS took first place this weekend in the "Battle of the Bats" tourney in Livingston Parish. This was a very talented tourney with 9 very good teams from all over and the STARS played hard the entire weekend to finish on top. Colby Smith took the hill for the STARS in the first inning of game #1 on Sunday against the PC Sliders. Smith pitched well in his debut only allowing four runs keeping the STARS in the game. The STARS came to bat in the bottom of the 1st and scored an amazing 19 runs in which the time had expired and the STARS played only 1 inning of ball and earned their first win in single elimination bracket play. The STARS then had to face a very good Ascension Astros team in the semi-finals, whom they had a come back victory over the day before in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The Stars received another quality pitching performance from Parker Serio as he pitched two innings and giving the STARS offense another chance to attack with the bats. The STARS did just that as they scored 12 runs and beat the Astros team for the second time in two days. Nick Turner really showed a lot of potential in his debut on the mound as he came in to close the Game. STARS won game #2 by a score of 12-4. The STARS faced off against a very good Mandeville Stingrays team in the championship. Both teams really played well and fought hard and at the end, the STARS again finished on top earning their 1st championship of the season, beating the Stingrays 6-1. Charlie Burt had a solid performance on the mound for the STARS as he pitched 2 2/3 of shutout baseball. Tyler Nichol made an outstanding diving catch to keep the runners from advancing and Jacob Mouriz also made huge big time double play with a sliding catch in Left field and had the awareness to throw the runner out at 2nd base. Casey Artigues pinch hit in the bottom of the last earning a big RBI to help increase the STARS lead and Wyatt Vaughn also had a lead off pinch hit double down the right field line. This weekend's championship was a total team effort as the STARS played together as a team and really played hard the entire weekend. Congratulations to the STARS as they know there is more hard work to be done and will be back at it on Tuesday for practice.
STARS 9AA Shine On Opening Day!!!!!
Opening Day has arrived for the STARS 9AA team and the boys really "SHINED" on the field as they go 2-0 in pool play on Saturday. The boys played the PC Sliders in the first game led by a solid pitching performance from Parker Serio as he pitched two scoreless innings and gave the STARS an opportunity to take an early lead. The STARS collected 9 hits as a team to score 13 runs, lead by Charlie Burt with the hot bat going two for two with 2 RBI'S. The STARS took game one by the score 13-3 as the keys to victory was applying pressure at the plate, smart base running, and solid pitching and defense by eliminating the big inning (making the routine plays and not allowing the other team to score more than three runs in an inning).
The STARS only had a 15 minute break as we were scheduled to play a double header in the middle of the day but the STARS sucked it up, stayed hydrated, and let the other team(s) complain about the heat as we came out hungry for our second victory. We played a very good Ascension Astro's team as they too came out hungry to take an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. The STARS responded with a lead off single by Anthony Dumas who eventually stole home two hitters later to tie the game up. Seth Dardar comes up and gets a 2 out RBI single giving the STARS an early 2-1 lead after the first inning. The STARS then begin to fade a little bit in the 2nd and 3rd innings as the Astros took a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the 3rd inning with STARS needing 4 runs to claim another victory. With two 1 out singles and two walks the STARS rallied to come from behind and proved that if you believe in yourself, and stay confident throughout the entire game, anything is possible. The game ended with Logan Ledet receiving a walk with the winning run on 3rd base, Logan listened to coach Wayne as he was instructed to continue running to 2nd base to draw a throw from the pitcher to possibly score the winning run. Logan executed this perfectly as he rounded 1st heading to 2nd, the pitcher turned to throw the ball to 2nd, Logan stopped to get in a run down (heads up play) and allowed Charlie Burt to score the winning run as the STARS win 6-5 and finish the day 2-0 in pool play. The STARS return to action tomorrow morning at 9:30 with the team TBA. At STARS baseball, we don't play against the score, or the opposing team, we play against the Ball! Congratulations to the 9AA STARS as they begin the season 2-0 and wish them luck as they look to capture their first championship tomorrow as we will take it one game at a time.
