Press  Release

(May 6, 2016) -- Storm Soccer Club (Storm SC) and Central Kentucky Soccer Club (CKSC) announced today the new partnership of the two soccer clubs. The merger was carefully crafted with the purpose of developing every player to their highest potential.  The new club is committed to long-term player development within our competitive program while cultivating a lifelong passion for the game.

The new name of the combined club will be Central Kentucky Storm. This name was chosen because it represents the multiple counties of Jessamine, Mercer, Boyle, Garrard, and Lincoln all working together to develop soccer players to a high standard in the Central Kentucky Area.

Both soccer clubs came to the decision to merge because combining resources would give each club the best player development environment, training and game facilities (John Preece Park, Bell Place Field, Centennial Park, Anderson Dean Park, Dana Fields, and Millennium Park) as well as provide Central Kentucky area players with the best opportunity to compete at the highest level while training and playing locally in their own communities.

The new Central Kentucky Storm will be overseen by the Central Kentucky Storm Technical Director and the Central Kentucky Storm Select Committee.

Storm Soccer Club, founded in 1990, has been dedicated to providing high level training to youth select soccer players of all skill levels and age groups through its competitive programs.

“I am grateful to the board members of both Storm SC and CKSC for their vision in recognizing the potential of these two great organizations coming together as one. We are excited to see the progression over time as a result from pulling together two strong organizational cultures to provide a new unmatched framework for developing youth soccer at every level within the Central Kentucky area,” said Central Kentucky Storm Technical Director - Garrett Stark.

CKSC, founded in 1994, is known for developing its youth soccer players and teams to a level where they are able to compete with other clubs in the state while accumulating 3 state championships over the years.

"I am very excited about the merger of CKSC and Storm SC.  This is a great opportunity for all of our kids.  This partnership  takes the strengths of both clubs to form a regional club that will allow soccer to thrive in our communities and compete at the highest levels," said CKSC President – Mike Mattingly.

Although the merger of the two clubs has been completed from a legal standpoint, on an operational level the respective Storm SC and CKSC teams will remain in their current form until the end of their 2015-2016 soccer season.  After all competition is complete the teams will be integrated into the newly merged Central Kentucky Storm for the upcoming 2016/2017 tryouts.
