Rams to Open in DMVElite Tip-Off Classic

The Suitland Boys Basketball team will kick off their season on December 7, 2013 in the DMVElite Tip-Off Classic at Flowers High School. They will take on Ballou in a 12:30 pm game. You can click on links to see the entire field for the tournament.
Doctor On Site
There will be a doctor at Suitland on Monday November 4, 2013 to administer physicals. The cost is $25. All athletes trying out must have a physical.

Basketball tryouts will be held on Friday November 15, 2013. All interested students must have a 2.00 GPA and a completed physical packet, which must be handed in to Coach McClure no later than November 8, 2013.

Rams Defeat Bladensburg; Travel to Flowers for Quarterfinal Matchup

The Rams defeated Bladensburg on Tuesday by a score of 53-43 and will travel to Flowers on Thursday February 28th to take on the Jaguars. Game time is 7:00 pm.

Rams To Finish Season at Home

After defeating Bowie and Flowers on the road last week, the Rams will wrap up the season this week at home. They will play Laurel on Tuesday February 12th and finish the regular season on Thursday February 14th, which will also be senior night.

On Friday January 11, 2013 the Ram boys basektball team defeated Flowers 55-45. It was a total team effort by the Rams, who were coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss to Bowie. They hit the road for their next 6 games beginning tomorrow at Parkdale.
Rams to Play in Laurel Holiday Tournament

The Rams will play two games in Laurel's holiday tournament. The first will be on Friday December 28th at 2:30 vs. Carver High School (Balto.) followed by a game on December 29th vs. Tallwood High School (Va.). Game time on Saturday is 4:15 and both games will be played at Laurel High School.

Peters Makes Commitment
Congratulations to Suitland senior Roddy Peters on his commitment to the University of Maryland. The 6'4 guard chose Maryland over Rutgers and Georgetown. He is expected to push for playing time upon his arrival on the College Park campus.

Coach Joe Wynn Passes

On Thursday April 5, 2012, Coach Joe Wynn, longtime assistant coach, passed away. Coach Wynn assisted Coach McClure beginning in 1997 until the time of his passing. He coached the summer teams for Coach McClure while at Bowie and CH Flowers and was lead assistant coach at those schools as well. He is the father of current assistant Mike Wynn and will be truly missed. For more information please contact Coach McClure.

Rams Advance to Regional Final; Defeat Wise 67-52

The Suitland Boys basketball team defeated Wise High School 67-52 last night to advance to the regional championship. The Rams got big nights from Roddy Peters,35 points, and Dequan Doyle, 20 rebounds, as they pulled away from the Pumas.
The Rams travel to Eleanor Roosevelt on Saturday to take on the Raiders in a 3:00 regional championship game.
Rams Upset Flowers; Advance to Regional Semi-Final

The Suitland Rams boys basketball team pulled off a huge upset last night, defeating #1 seed CH Flowers on the road. The Rams scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed. Lamont Reed and Daquan Page got the Rams off to a quick start with Reed tallying 5 assists and Page 16 points in the first half. Roddy Peters had another big night finishing with 28 points, including going 7-8 from the free throw line down the stretch. The Rams also got big contributions from Dequan Doyle (15 rebounds) and Arvel Atwater and Deandre Gatling, who both got big tap ins late in the game. Page finished with 21 points before going out with an ankle injury.

Rams Win 1st Playoff Game, Advance to face Flowers
The Suitland Rams defeated High Point this past Friday and will take on CH Flowers in a quarterfinal game at Flowers High School. The Rams defeated High Point 87-50 behind a strong game from Roddy Peters, who finished with 28 points. Dequan Doyle came up big again on the boards, collecting 15 rebounds. The Rams take on Flowers, who they split with in the regular season. If they win, the Rams would take on the winner of the Wise/Parkdale game on Thursday March 1, 2012.

The Suitland boys basketball team will play a first round playoff game at home against High Point this Friday at 7:00. The Rams defeated the Eagles 72-65 the first time they met in December. The winner will play at Flowers on Tuesday, February 28th at 7:00 pm.
Rams Have Big Week, Go 2-0

The Suitland boys basketball team had its biggest week of the year beating Bowie 80-45 on Tuesday and Flowers 61-60 in OT on Thursday. In the Bowie game, the Rams got off to a great start and never looked back. Roddy Peters led all scores with 19 points but got help from Dwayne Clinton who finished with a career high 16 points on senior night. Daquan Page and Deandre Gatling also put in 15 points apiece.
On Thursday the Rams played league leading Flowers and pulled out a close 61-60 overtime win. DeQuan Doyle had a school record 30 rebounds to go along with 10 points. Rams Split Again

The Suitland boys basketball team split last week losing to Roosevelt 50-49 and hanging on to beat Bladensburg 59-56. Against Roosevelt the Rams led most of the way before succumbing to the Raiders late in the game. Roddy Peters led all scorers with 17 points with Daquan Page adding 9 points and DeQuan Doyle adding 11 rebounds.
Against Bladensburg, the Rams hit the road for the first time in 6 games and hung on to win a close one. Page led all scorers with 15 points followed by Peters with 12. Dwayne Clinton chipped in 9 for the Rams.
The Rams have 4 games left, at home this Tuesday against Bowie and again as part of a doubleheader with the girls against CH Flowers (2/9). They hit the road for their last two against Laurel (2/13) and Duval (2/16).
Rams Lose to Duval, Beat Oxon Hill

The Suitland boys basketball team lost a tough game last Tuesday, falling to Duval 70-66. The game was intense throughout, with both teams holding the lead at various stages of the game. In the end, Duval hit some key baskets and hung on for the win. Suitland got 15 points from junior Roddy Peters and 12 apiece from Daquan Page and Dequan Doyle. Doyle also contributed 15 rebounds.
The Rams rebounded on Friday as they coasted to a win against Oxon Hill, 80-59. Oxon Hill upset Suitland in December. The Rams were again led by Roddy Peters who had 24 points and 8 assist. Daquan Page also came up big with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Dwayne Clinton chipped in 11 points and Dequan Doyle had a big night on the boards with 17 rebounds.

The Suitland boys basketball team went 2-0 for the week defeating Parkdale and Laurel. In the Parkdale game the team won 68-61 and got balanced scoring led by Dwayne Clinton with 16, Deandre Gatling 15, Daquan Page 13 and Roddy Peters chipping in 11 points.
Against Laurel the Rams won 79-51 and were led by Roddy Peters with 22 points and also got a big game from DeQuan Doyle with 10 points and 18 rebounds.
The Rams play Duval on Tuesday January 24th at home. Duval is ranked 12th in the area.

The Suitland Boys basketball team split last week defeating Bowie 80-72 and losing to CH Flowers 52-43. Against Bowie the Rams got a huge game from junior Roddy Peters who scored 29 points to go along with 6 assist. Daquan Page had a big game with 13 points and 11 boards. Shaneil Jenkins and Deandre Gatling also made big contributions on the boards.
Against Flowers the Jaguars fell short after leading 25-22 at the half. Peters and Page again were the leading scorers with 17 and 10 respectively. The Rams open up a 5 game home stand tonight against Parkdale.

The Suitland Rams will play at CH Flowers on Thursday January 12, 2012 as part of a doubleheader with their girls varsity team. The girls game will start at 6:00 proceeded by the boys game at 7:45. The two teams will keep the same format on February 9th at Suitland.

The Suitland Boys basketball team went 2-0 playing in the Spartan Holiday Mixer over the holiday break. The Rams defeated Forestville 95-53 and Kellum 59-40. Kellum defeated Suitland last year in the same tournament. The Rams open up 2012 with a home game against Bladensburg on Friday January 6, 2012. JV will play at 5:30 followed by the varsity.

They face two teams fighting for a playoff seeding, with Parkdale visiting Suitland on Tuesday and the Rams traveling to Eleanor Roosevelt on Thursday. Tuesdays game against Parkdale is Senior Night.

The Suitland Boys basketball team defeated Flowers this past Friday in a battle of two teams that entered the game undefeated in the league and in first place. The Rams got big games from Nicho Tyson(19 points), Marquise Green (15 points, 15 rebounds), Will Gilmore( 14 points, 6 assist, 8 rebounds) and Roddy Peters (16 points, 10 assist). They next face Oxon Hill on the road Tuesday January 11th.

Coaching Great Passes

Coach Jim Butler, longtime Prince George's County coach, passed away last week. Coach Butler won a state championship at Surrattsville in 1997 and recently was the head coach at Bladensburg(2005-2010). The Suitland basketball family extends our deepest condolences to Coach Butler and his family.

The Suitland Rams boys basketball team will start 2011 with home games on Tuesday January 4th against Duval and on Friday January 7th against CH Flowers, who is undefeated in league play.
The Rams finished 2010 going 1-1 in the Holiday Hoops Classic at Hoop Magic. They lost to Kellam High School (Va. Beach) and defeated Wheaton.
Rams Go Into Holidays on a Roll

The Suitland boys basketball team defeated Bowie High School last night by a score of 85-78. It was the first time they had beaten Bowie in four years. The win brings the Rams record to 5-0 heading into the holiday break.
Rams Win Back to Back Games

The Rams won games on back to back days, beating High Point 68-65 on the road and Southern 62-61 at Bowie State. In the Southern game, Suitland was in a dog fight and escaped after sophomore Roddy Peters hit a shot with 1.8 seconds left on the clock.

The Rams won their second straight road game, winning at Northwestern by a score of 91-49. Will Gilmore had his first triple-double with 10 points, 11 assist and 10 steals. Nicho Tyson and Roddy Peters led all scorers with 26 and 19 points respectively.
The Rams have a tough weekend ahead as they travel to High Point on Friday and play Southern on Saturday at Bowie State. Saturday's game time is 12:00 P.M.

Rams Capture Summer League Championship

The Suitland Boys basketball team won the Fairmont Heights Summer League championship this past Wednesday, blowing out Spingarn 52-32. The win completed the Rams undefeated run through the league as they went 11-0. Will Gilmore, Nicho Tyson and Marquis Green led the Rams throughout the league. They also got key contributions from Anthony Brown, Daquan Page and Shaneil Jenkins. Dwayne Clinton and Carl Brown also contributed.

The Suitland Boys' basketball team raced out to a 38-19 halftime win and hung on to win 72-62 at Laurel. Nicho Tyson continued his torrid scoring with a 43 point outburst. Will Gilmore contributed a career high 13 assist while adding 12 points and 3 rebounds. Devaughn Jones had a season high 8 blocks in the win.
The Rams lost a tough battle at home on Tuesday to Oxon Hill by a score of 70-69. They will try to continue their winning ways on Tuesday at home against Parkdale.
Rams Capture Colonial Electric Xmas Tournament

The Suitland High School Boys' Basketball team won the Colonial Electric Holiday Tournament, defeating the host school Southern by a score of 76-43. Junior Nicho Tyson was named MVP scoring 41 points in two days. He was joined on the all tournament team by Devaughn Jones (Junior) and Jerone Tyler (Senior). Junior Will Gilmore came up big over the two day tournament averaging 9 assist per game. The Rams go on the road for 3 games next week, starting Tuesday at Duval.

The Rams head into the holiday season with a record of 2-1. Because of the inclement weather, the game scheduled for 12/22 at Bowie has been rescheduled for 1/7/10.
The team will travel to Southern High School in Anne Arundel County on 12/28/09 to play in the Colonial Electric Holiday Tournament.
Practice for the week could resume as early as Thursday, 12/24. Information will be announced as soon as it is received from the office of athletics.
