    Sun Devil Track & Field

    CIF Finals 2 move on to Masters, Phillip Rivera won the Div 3 title 6th overall qualifier in the 400m and advances to the Masters meet Friday. Joining him will be Jordan Bernal who places 3rd in the Discus in Div 3, and 8th overall. Daniel Rosales broke the school record in the 3200 with a time of 9:26.78 placing 4th in Div 3 and 13th overall, Hannah Valenzuela place 3rd in Div. 3 and 14th overall in her 3200 race. Brean Wiliams places 8th in the 100 hurdles and 4th in the 300 hurdles.


    CIF Prelims 6 Athletes move on to Finals, Brean Williams advanced in both the 100 and 300 hurdles, Hannah Valenzuela in the 3200, Jordan Bernal in the Discus, Leon Osby in the Shot Put, Daniel Rosales in the 3200 and Phillip Rivera in the 400.


    League Finals our girls team recorded 8 league titles yesterday Brean Wiliams lead the way with 3 (4x100, 100H, 300H), Brittany Gray 2 (400, 4x100), Ashley Wolf 2 (4x100, Pole Vault), Samantha Teofilo (Shot Put),Ashley Cole (100) and Hannah Valenzuela (3200) in addition Brean Wiliams was named Track athlte of the year.

    On boys also recorded 8 league titles Phil Rivera lead the way with 4 (4x100, 400, 300, 4x400) Brad Noss had 2 (4x100, 4x400) Garrett Smith 2(4x400 and 110H), Abduhlah Abron 2 (4x100,4x400) Angel Moyeda (1600), AJ Pulice (800) and Leon Osby (Shot Put) Phil Rivera was namaed Track athlete of th year.


    Congratulations to our Boys team for winning league


    Sultana Our boys team finished off their season undefeated at 7-0 and won the league championship. with a 87-49 win over Sultana. Jordan Bernal finished the season undefeated in dual meets in the shot put and discus, and Phil Rivera also finished the season perfect in the 400. The boys showed great balanced in all events during the entire season, AJ Pulce ran a personal best in the 800 with a time of 2:01.6, and Abby Smith had a personal best in the High Jump with a mark of 6' 2", Garrett Smith and Nick Reynolds had another great showing in the Hurdles to finish 1,2 in both hurdle races. Our girls finished in a 2nd place tie in league with a 68-68 tie yesterday with Sultana, Brittany Gray won the 400 and 200, and Breann Williams won both hurdle races, Hannah Valenzuela won both the 1600 and 3200 to complete a strong first season. Ashley Wolf was part of both wining relay teams and won the pole vault with a hieght of 8' Samantha Teofilo won the shot put with a mark of 31' 8.5" and has shown great improvement in every meet.

    Our next meet will be the Mojave River League meet next week, were the top 8 in each event will compete to determine individual event champions, that meet is held at Rim of the World HS, on Wed. April 30th the field events start at 2:00 and th erunning events at 3:00.



    Inland Empire Championships Our Boys team finishes 3rd in strong boys field, Phillip Rivera and Jordan Bernal finish first in there events to claim County Championships with both finshing second in there other event. Jordan Bernal was named Thrower of the meet. Hannah Valenzuela won the 3200m race for the championship and broke the meet record in that race. Phillip Rivera also broke his own record in the 400m, with at time of 48.58 Brittany Gray finah 4th overall in the 400 with at time of 59.96. Our next meet will be April 24th at home against Sultana.


    Rim Our boys team continues to improve, beating Rim 105-31. Our throwers Jordan Bernal, Riicardo Calderon, Leon Osby, Gil Amaro and Ben Reynolds, placed 1-4 in a sweep of both throwing events. Garrett Smith won both hurdle events, followed closly by Nick Reynolds. Phillip Rivera broke 200m records with a run of 21.7, Bradley Noss won the 400 in a time of 49.4. Our girls team won 87-40 Brittany Gray won the 400 with a time of 57.2 the fastest time in league this year, Breann Williams won both Hurdle races while Samantha Teofilo won the Shot put and Discus. Ashley Wolfe won the Pole Vault with a mark of 8'.


    High Desert Challenge Apple Valley Sets 8 meet records, Hannah Valenzuela broke two meet records in the 1600 and 3200. Bradly Noss broke the 400 record and was on the 1600 relay team with Danny Velasquez, Darion Mosley and Nick Reynolds that broke the relay record. Daniel Rosales broke both the 1600 and 3200 records, and Nick Reynolds broke both the 110H and 300H records. This was a meet for our younger athletes to shine we medaled athletes in every event we participated in and had good times and mark for the day. Our next meet will be April 17th at Rim of the World.


    Serrano With strong performances from the entire team our boys team won 95-37. Phil Rivera had wiins in the 200 and 400, Jordan Bernal won both the Shot Put and Discus, and Nick Reynolds won both hurdle races. While AJ Pulice won the 800 Angel Moyeda won the 1600 and Sam Nunes won the 3200. On the girls side we had strong showing from Breann Williams winning both hurdles races, Brittany Gray won the 400 and 200, while Hannah Valenzuale won the 1600 in a loss 47-89. Our next meet will be April 12th Home for the High Desert Challenge Frosh/Soph Meet.


    Chet Nicholson Relays On a great day in Corona our boys team scored a 108 points to win the small school division with 1st place finishes in the 4x100, 4x1600, Sprint Medley and discus, 2nd place in the 4x200, 4x800, Shuttle Hurdles, Long Jump and Shot Put. 3rd place in the 8x100, 4x400 and Triple Jump. Our girls team placed 1st in the 4x1600 and Distance Medley and 3rd in the 4x200 and Pole Vault. our next meet wil be Home on April 10th vs. Serrano


    Hesperia Our teams opened league with impressive wins over Hesperia, our boys team won 84 - 47 Angel Moyeda won both the 1600 & 3200 Phil Rivera won both the 200 and 400 and anchored the 4 x 400 relay team, Jordan Bernal won both th eShot and Discus, while AJ Pulice won the 800, and Garret Smith won the 110 hurdles. Our girls team won 99 - 35 Hannah Velenzuala won the 1600 & 3200 and Brean Williams won the 100 and 300 Hurdles, Ashley Cole won both the 100 and 200, with Brittany Gray won the 400, Danialle jackson won the Discus, and Mandy Wilson won the Triple Jump. Our next meet will be March 29th at Roosevelt HS for the Chet Nicholson Relays.


    Relay of Champions On a great day in Moreno Valley our boys team took home second place at the Relay of Champions, breaking 2 meet records and recording 5 first place, 3 second place and 2 third place finishes. Our girls team was 5th in the events winning 1 first place and 2 second place.


    Victorville & Silverado Great showing by both teams we were unable to finish the meet due to lighting and sprinkler problems. at the time the meet was canceled both our boys and girls teams, had the meets under control winning both divisions.


    Granite Hills The 2008 season is off and running and the team has had a good showing so far. In our first meet we split with Granite Hills our Boys team won and our girls team lost. There were strong showing from both our teams, Hannah Valenzuala in her first race broke the school record in the 3200 which dated back to 1990. Also on the girls side Breann Williams won the 100 and 300 hurdle races, while Brittany Gray won the 400 and anchored the 4x400 relay team. On the Boys side it was a solid overall performance by everyone Angel Moyeda won the 1600, while Garrett Smith won both hurdle races. Phil Rivera 800 and Bradly Noss 400 each won there race and ran as part of the 4x400 reelay team.
