First we wanted to say what a great job the boys did at Sunday's wrestling meet! Coach Shane said he saw the boys doing a lot of different moves and he is very proud.
We took 16 wrestlers to the Thomas Worthington qualifier this weekend and 7 either placed or made it as an alternate. VERY PROUD of our boys!!
There will be NO Catalyst (formerly Prodigy) practice tonight. They are having a day camp today from 1-3 for a $25 fee if anyone is interested. I know we have a handful of boys already committed to going.
I know practices have been a little erratic lately. We were trying to work around the schedule at Catalyst so those who wanted to could attend those practices. They have confirmed their practices and ours have been set as well. They are:
MONDAY and WEDNESDAY at Catalyst from 6:30-8pm
TUESDAY and THURSDAY at TIpp from 5:30-8pm
Coach Carr has asked Shane to assist him at practices so Shane will be there on Mondays and Wednesdays as well. There is a $10 fee but we are working with them to see if we can get that lowered.
For those of you who are not familiar with Nate Carr, he earned a bronze medal in the '88 olympics in Seoul, was on the '83 world championship team and won the World Cup and Pan-America Cup championships in '86. These are just a few of his accomplishments from his amazing wrestling career. What a great opportunity for our young wrestlers!
Our team has been invited to participate in a dual tournament this Saturday at the Prodigy Center in Springboro at 9am. There are 18 weight classes so we will need to do a wrestle-off. The wrestle-off will be held on Thursday so please let Shane know if you would like to compete.
The spaghetti dinner this year is Friday January, 27th. We have invited Vandalia Butler and Covington, they have similar sized teams so it should be a good tournament. Dinner will be served from 4:30-8 and wrestling will start around 6pm.
There is an alumni night on Thursday January, 26th at the high school. WE HIGHLY ENCOURAGE the boys to attend. Several of our coaches will be honored and the boys will get to cheer on the high school team. If you can't make it, let me know and we can take some kids with us.
Lastly, I have gotten another email from the principal of the middle school. I know we are doing all we can to keep things clean and respect the facility but apparently there are still some issues. To ensure that we can continue to use the facility we may have to deny restroom/drinking fountain access to the boys and deny access of the art room to parents. This is just a heads-up in case we need to resort to this.
