Shane FitzMaurice surrendered his battle with ALS last week. Never again will anyone receive an email signed "Fight On! Shane". We all find solace that he has been released of his pain but will continue to enrich our lives through our memories.

There will be a celebration of Shane's life tomorrow (Tuesday) morning at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Brigid Parish, 4735 Cass Street, San Diego, CA 92109. For those inclined to send flowers, Shane's family has asked that you plant a living flower or tree in memory of Shane. Everyone's presence in Shane's life has been your gift to this great Tecolote family. However, if you still feel the need to give, you can made a contribution for his four children Jack, Thomas, Charlee and Frank that will continue to strengthen their lives academically and spiritually. On behalf of the entire Tecolote community, the Tecolote Board expresses their sincere and heartfelt condolences to Shane's entire family, especially Lilyn, Jack, Thomas, Charlee, and Frank. We will desperately miss seeing Shane at the fields. So much of our time revolves around our beautiful baseball diamonds, and we were so lucky that our mutual love of this great sport caused our lives to intersect with Shane's as they did. We will move forward together, stronger because of Shane and the way he lived his life. Thank you Shane for all that you gave and will continue to give us.

New PONY Rule on Bat Size
2 3/4" Diameter Bats Banned for all Divisions for 2012.

Each year PONY Baseball reviews their current rules on equipment and safety. This year a new rule involving bat size will be implemented. The new rule states:

Wooden, metal, graphite or ceramic bats manufactured for baseball play, cannot  be more than 2 5/8" in diameter at the thickest part, not more than 42 inches in length, are acceptable. Bats manufactured specifically for use in tee-ball play, shall not be used when the ball is pitched by a player, coach or pitching machine.
