The Bruisers post-season run ended as quickly as it started. One and done. They couldn't stay out of the penalty box - and gave up 4 power play goals, in an 8-2 drubbing at the hands of the Stars - whom the Bruisers beat just 48 hours before. The loss eliminates the Bruisers from the playoffs, extending their championship drought to 2 years, encompassing 4 seasons.

BRUISERS BLOW LATE LEAD, FALL TO MORKMEN
February 14, 2014
The Bruisers fell back below .500 losing another tight game to the Morkmen 3-1, dropping them to fourth place in HLI d2 division. Matt Rubin scored in the first period to give them a 1-0 lead - and the lead stood until just over 7 minutes left in regulation. The morkmen then took the lead with 3:25 to play. They added an empty netter for the final tally late in the game. These two teams seemed destined for their third overtime game in three contests this year before the Morkmen took it. The last game between the two ended in a scoreless tie after the Morkies handed the bruisers a 6-5 defeat in OT in the beginning of the season.

7th HEAVEN! 7 UNANSWERED THIRD PERIOD GOALS PROPEL BRUISERS
January 22, 2014
The Bruisers and Ice Dozers were all knotted up through 3 periods, and then an offensive explosion catapulted them to a 10-3 win. After Jimmy Ketterer scored his second of the game to take the lead - the Bruisers then scored 4 goals in 1:27 to blow the game wide open. Rob Del Muro Jr. scored followed 7 seconds later by Sean Kenney to make the lead 6-3. Just 30 seconds later it was Del Muro again to open a 4 goal lead, and then 52 seconds later Matt Rubin netted a goal to make it 8-3. Jimmy Ketterer would complete the hat trick just over a minute later making it 5 goals in less than 3 minutes and 6 in the opening 7:14 of the third period. Rob Del Muro's 4th goal of the game capped the scoring late in the third. Sean Kenney led the way with 8 points and Mike Tuna shockingly was able to make the 10 spot stand for his second straight win.

SEARING PLAYS HERO, LEADS BRUISERS TO WIN
January 12, 2014
The Bruisers have done everything but win a game in the last four contests. They got blown out. They lost by a goal. They got a shutout....but came away with just a tie. And they lost in overtime. And they were staring a third straight OT game in the face when Kevin Searing netted his second goal of the game with just over a minute and a half left, leading the 5 time HLI champs to a 5-4 win. Mike Tuna was solid in net making 31 saves earning the win.

BRUISERS FALL IN OVERTIME
January 8, 2014
For a record fourth time in a season, the Bruisers were forced to play in overtime, unfortunately this one ended in a loss. The Outlaws converted a 5 on 3 power play goal in the extra session ruining the Bruisers chance at once again evening their record at 500. Keith Lazar and Vinny Budano both scored unassisted goals to get the Bruisers on the board. Lazar's goal was one for the highlight reel. First, playing defense he broke up a good scoring attempt, then took the puck coast to coast, using a defender as a screen to rocket a wrister into the top corner of the net. Vinny Budano netted his first goal of the season in the third period - scoring on a 2 on 0 (like he would ever pass) to tie the game at 2. The Bruisers would give up a goal but get it back with just over 3 minutes to play - Keith Nelson finished a 4 on 2 break to send the game to overtime. Mike Tuna was solid in net, but gave up goals unlike his backup the game before.

Bruisers, Morkmen battle to scoreless tie
December 24, 2013
The Bruisers and Morkmen have had many battles in the past. Games that ended in blow outs, brawls, shit talking, championships, crushed dreams, but never did a game go down as epic as tonights. The Bruisers put 56 shots on goal, and were shut out by one of the great goalie performances in recent memory. But they didn't lose, that's because fill in goalie Joe AKA NOT MIKE TUNA turned aside all 25 shots thrown his way and the result was a hard fought 0-0 tie. I don't have more to say other than the Morkmens goalie stole a point with his stellar play in net, in one of the great games u will ever see in such a shit level league like ours.
Bruisers fall by a goal
December 23, 2013
Mike Tuna played superb in net for the Bruisers making save after save after save. Unfortunately it wasnt enough to get the Bruisers two big points as they lost 4-3 vs. the Stars. December 7, 2013
The Bruisers showed up to their game vs. the Klash and strikingly resembled the New York Islanders. That, is not going to produce wins. Bad defense, bad goaltending, a dumb ref, not enough shots on net, and a lack of discipline resulted in an 8-2 drubbing. Not much more to add here.

KENNEY LIFTS BRUISERS IN OT
December 1, 2013
Sean Kenney lit the lamp with just 1:27 left in OT pulling the Bruisers to a 7-6 win. The win put the five-time HLI champs over 500 for the first time this season. Mike Nelson and Joe Cangro scored twice in the win and Keith Nelson had 3 points in a see-saw battle. The Bruisers held a 6-2 lead before playing a different type of game and letting the Ice Dozers back in it forcing overtime. In the extra session M. Nelson benched himself saying his brother Keith was stronger on the puck, seconds later Keith set up Kenney for the game winner. Patty was there to see the Jew play for the first time.

November 26, 2013
The Bruisers were trailing 3-1 heading into the third period when the Nelsons woke up the team. Keith Nelson scored 1:03 into the period, but was answered by a Court officer goal less than a minute later. But the game changed just 7 seconds later when Sean Kenney finished a 2 on 1 off the face-off to get the 5 time HLI champs within one. Then Mike Nelson hit brother Keith with a great outlet pass - Nelson then shoveled it to Kenney who finished the play tying the game up with just over 10 minutes to play. Then with 3 and change to go, Rob Del Muro Jr slid a pass to Matt Taub who backhanded one in for the deciding goal. Mike Nelson scored an empty netter to put the game away. Rob Del Muro, Keith Nelson, Keith Lazar and Joe Cangro also lit the lamp in the win. Dan Mahoney also had a 2 point night keeping him at a point a game pace for the season. Bruisers embarrassed, But not as bad as Euro Stars goalie
October 23, 2013
Usually when you lose by 7 goals there is nothing positive to take out of it. But the Euro Stars goalie made playing the game well worth the loss, despite only 7 guys showing up. Leading 8-0 in the third period, the Goalie gave up a goal to Sean Kenney. After allowing the goal he threw a temper tantrum that would go viral if it had been recorded. He slammed his stick on the ice a few times, then broke it over the crossbar before throwing it into the stands. What an idiot, and he fits in well with a lot of his teamates. Bruiser goalie Vinny Budano Played very well despite giving up 9 goals, as he didnt have much help in front of him.

BRUISERS OPEN SEASON WITH TOUGH LOSS
October 19, 2013
After over 6 months without playing a game together the Bruisers came out on fire - scoring the first two goals of the game but ultimately fell to the Stingers-2 Friday night at Iceland. It was a game of "runs" with the Bruisers scoring 2 straight then the Stingers responded with 4 in a row to take a 4-2 lead. But Dan Mahoneys dirty deflection and Rob Del Muro's second goal of the game in the third period evened the score at 4 apiece with 8 minutes to play. But the tide turned exactly 1:30 later when the Stingers reclaimed the lead. They would add an insurance goal and took the game 6-4. Mike Tuna showed no rust in net keeping the Blue and white in the game stopping 27 shots. The Stingers more than doubled up the Bruisers in shots 33-16. Jimmy Ketterer was the other goal scorer, thanks to his brand new stealth he bought earlier in the game.

Offense ready, Defense needs help for Playoff run
February 28, 2013
The Bruisers offense is certainly working on all cylinders headed into the playoffs. The problem is the defense and goaltending. And by defense, i dont mean just the guys playing d, but the whole team defense. The Bruisers have scored 16 goals, but lost both games in giving up 9 per game. Matt Taub recorded his first career hat trick in his first game at forward and the Bruisers scored 5 third period goals, but it wasn't enough. With the loss they finish the regular season 7-7-2 and are headed towards a Monday night wild card matchup with Animal House. A loss and the season is over, a win and they enter the double loss 4 team tournament for the HLI Cup

BRUISERS EPIC COMEBACK ENDS IN OT LOSS
February 22, 2013
The Bruisers were down 4-0 after 1 - they gave up the first goal in the 2nd period and then were down 7-2. But Sean Kenney went Greg Jennings on the Euro Stars and put the team on his back do (if you dont get the reference click this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P0yfq2wDvU - its guaranteed to make you laugh). Sean scored - then scored again forcing a Euro stars comeback and getting with 7-5. Then the Stars scored to make it 8-5 before John Peace scored, Followed by a sick snipe by MIke Nelson, and then with just 10.8 seconds left Rob Del Muro scored to send the game to overtime. But in the extra session, the Euro stars got an odd man rush and scored ending the chance at one of the all time great Bruisers wins. Kenney had a part in all 8 Bruisers goals, yes, thats not a typo. The comeback happened despite the Bruisers NOT cashing in on a 2 minute 5 on 3 pp in the third period down 3 goals. oh yeah Vinny Budano, Matt Taub.

REFS MISSED CALL RUINS FANTASTIC HOCKEY GAME
February 18, 2013
I dont feel like getting into how awful of a call the refs made/didn't make on a clear game winning goal in overtime. The result was a 3-3 hard fought tie with Mayhem. Funny the Mayhem had someone videotaping the game, i would love to see the replay, but of course that wont happen. Either way the Bruisers blew a 3-1 lead in the third period, making the extra session necessary. Bruisers over 500
February 16, 2013
When everyone on a hockey team does their job, chances are their team will win. That's exactly what happened for the shorthanded (once again) Bruisers last night against Effin-D, avenging an 8-1 loss earlier this season, with a 5-1 win, their best team effort of the season. Lets start from the goal out, Mike Tuna missed the game, and Ruben lastnameunknown filled in and was stellar in net stopping 23 of 24 shots, losing his shutout bid with under 5 minutes to play in the contest. The three man unit on defense was outstanding, letting up only 1, yes thats right ONE odd man rush all night long. They took away passing lanes, and killed off a huge long power play in the second stanza. How about the forwards, the top scoring line this season, did just that, scored. Sean Kenney, Mike Nelson and Rob Del Muro combined for 11 points. Kenney had 4 points including a back breaking breakaway goal in the third. Speaking of hot, Nelson had 2 points for his 6th straight game, including a 5 game goalscoring streak. And Del Muro added a goal and 3 assists, giving him 8 assists in his last three games. The other forward line of Matt Fetterman Bob Stein and Ryan Paul didn't give up a goal against the entire game, and created numerous chances against an Effin-D goalie who make some huge stops to keep the game from ever getting out of hand. With the win the Bruisers are over .500 for the first time this season, a remarkable feat for a team that started 1-5 and has had terrible attendance issues. But the roster has been fortified the last few weeks by adding the Fetterman brothers, and Bob Stein full time, to make up for some of the lost regulars.

Bruisers Build Big Lead, Hold On To Beat Morkmen
February 5, 2013
The Bruisers scored five times in the first period, taking a commanding 5-1 lead, but instead of putting their skates on the throat of the kind of shorthanded morkmen(they were missing 2 good players and their worst fat player), they stopped skating and the Morkmen took it to them, eventually getting to within one, before falling 6-4 to the 5 time HLI champions. Mike Nelson stayed hot lately, once again netting two goals, Ryan Paul scored his first career Bruiser goal, Vinny Budano, Bob Stein and Sean Kenney rounded out the scoring for the Bruisers. Mike Tuna made 22 saves on 26 saves for the dub in net. The win is the fifth in 6 games for the Bruisers, who are making a push for a playoff spot after a terrible start to the year. Conversely the Morkmen, who started the season 8-1 have now lost 3 of four games. While they were missing Klein and Milella, they did have their best players at the game, the Bruisers were also missing guys, John Peace, Jimmy Ketterer and Joe Cangro couldn't make it along with Brandon Salz who is on IR w/ a concussion.

Stingers halt Bruisers Winning Streak
January 25, 2013
The Bruisers gave up 4 unanswered goals in the third period to the Stingers, and it cost them a chance at 2 big points. The game was a see saw affair with the Stingers taking a 3-1 lead, before the Bruisers scored 4 unanswered goals in the second period, on 20 shots in the period to take a 5-3 lead. But a short bench caught up with them in the third giving up 3 goals, all on odd man rushes, and then an empty netter to put the game away. The Bruisers had only 3 defensemen for the contest, one had just played another game that night. The star of the game was the Stingers goalie who made 37 saves, according to HLI's scoresheet guy, some of them incredible in a close third period, and 16 in the second period to keep the game close for the Stingers.

January 21, 2013
It seems like a small deal for a team with the history of the Bruisers to be at 500 10 games into the season, but when you figure that they were 1-5 to start its an accomplishment. Now, the Morkmen came on the message board, complaining that we won games vs. the division below us, meaning THEIR division. This is a different bruiser team. The goals have started coming and they are coming from all directions. The Bruisers beat the Bolts by a score of 8-4, and everyone of the 8 skaters that showed up had at least a point. January 17, 2013
The Bruisers came out of the gate on fire - scoring 4 goals in the first 10:22 to take a 4-0 lead they would never squander en route to their third straight win, 6-4 was the final. The line of Sean Kenney Mike Nelson and Rob Del Muro each had 2 goals, with Kenney having a hand in each Bruiser goal. The line of Ryan Paul Vinny Budano and Kevin Searing had chance after chance, while keeping the puck out of their own net all night, and the defense played their third straight rock solid game. Tuna was good in net again - stopping 21 of 25 shots thrown his way. The kids on the Bangers were kind of angry at life or hockey or something, but the Bruisers kept their cool earning 2 full 5 on 3's that unfortunately they were unable to capitalize on. January 8, 2013
They were 1-5. They were down 2-0. They were staring at another loss, to a team they were outplaying, and all of a sudden they exploded. And their defense led the way....offensively. Matt Rubin set up Mike Nelson for a power play goal and 1:10 later Rubin scored to tie the game, only to score to take the lead 40 seconds after that. Matt Taub, another defenseman then doubled the lead with just over 2 minutes left in the period with a slapper from inside the blueline. Rob Del Muro and Vinny Budano made the lead 6-2, and John peace rounded out the scoring in a 7-4 lead. There were three defenseman in the game for the Bruisers. Rubin had 3 points, Taub had 2, and Peace had a goal, all three scored goals in the win. Mike Tuna who finally got a jersey, also finally got a win! Sean Kenney had the game winner with 6:25 to go in the third breaking a 6-6 tie. Kenneys goal capped a 6 point performance. Winger Rob Del Muro also had 2 goals and 4 assists, all primaries and Mike Nelson had a goal and 3 helpers in the victory. Matt Taubs top corner blast in the third tied the game up at 6. Brandon Salz also scored in the contest in his first game at forward, after being moved up from the point.

LI Stars Come Out Firing, Bruisers Can't Recover
October 19, 2012
The Bruisers opening game of the 2012-13 Fall/Winter season couldn't have gotten off to a worse start. The team gave up 5 goals in the first period to the LI Stars before finding their legs and falling by a lone goal 6-5. The Bruisers peppered the Stars goalie Chris Wilder with 38 shots on goal but he was up to the task early and often keeping the Bruisers scoreless until late second when Sean Kenney netted the first goal of the Bruiser Season. It was the first of 5 points for the Bruiser scoring star - contributing on each of the goals the team scored. Keith Nelson came back from 10 months on the IR to net a goal in the loss.

Bruisers Year Ends With Just 1 Title
July 16, 2012
Judging by the Guestbook i guess the Morkmen players that troll on our sites are without much to do over the summer (shocker), and want an update on how our season ended. Of course they didnt write their name but we all know at this point that Bohomo Special Klein or whoever else looks doesn't have balls to write it. Anyway for those of you(morkmen) that need some entertainment, and since i need to get laid(according to nameless guestbook comment), i will sum up the Bruisers season. They fell in a blow out to an undermanned Animal House team, that went on and won the HLI championship. In beating the Bruisers on the way to a championship they became the only team other than Mayhem to beat the Bruisers in the playoffs and win a title. Morkmen, has never done either of course, with us in the playoffs. In the 2 season 2011-12 year the Bruisers won 1 championship, not a bad percentage. Of course, the Morkmen won 0. Not that we give a crap about what they do, bc its usually losing or cheating to try to win. Animal house definitely had our number this season, and beat us at full strength despite us having our full squad. Just wasn't our season maybe even a Fall Super-season HLI championship hangover perhaps? Either way, it was a successful year, cant win them all. Taking off for the summer but will make sure to update the happenings at the Bruiser BBQ this friday night for all the morkmen that troll our site. also be sure to follow both bonomo's on twitter, i found them, i believe they have 13 combined followers. #Homos
BRUISERS ON BRINK
June 24, 2012
The Bruisers will be facing elimination for each game they take the ice for the remainder of the spring season. And for that they can blame penalties, and an offense that has gone missing for the better part of the entire season. Those two problems reared their ugly heads again in their 5-2 loss in the semifinals against the Predators, a game that was tied at 2 in the third period. The Bruisers were shorthanded for 14 minutes - or almost a full period of the game, and only had 6 power play minutes, and it caught up with them giving up 2 power play goals in the decisive third period. The good news is that a win on Tuesday night will put the Bruisers in the championship.

Cheaters Never Win
June 19, 2012
The Headline says it all, just 2 weeks ago the Morkmen brought in a player from the Predators, their best player, to try to beat the bruisers. We called them out on it, they swore that he was on their team and curiously he wasn't there last night. But who was there was ANOTHER RINGER brought in by those clowns and it cost them a chance at their first ever playoff victory over the Bruisers. With the ringer in toe, they won a hard fought 2-1 game, holding off a Bruiser late charge and for a moment thought they won the game. Too bad they were caught cheating ironically on the same day Roger Clemens' cheating scandal was back in the headlines. Unlike Clemens, and because they dont have his money or attorneys, they didn't beat the system and are now home for the summer. Its too bad for the few honest morkmen players who played their asses off and didnt want to bring in the ringer too because it was a fantastic hockey game. Of course they had some illegal help. In the WIN Mike Tuna stood on his head stopping 35 of 37 shots, displaying his knack for stepping up in the playoff clutch he showed in winning a title in Fall season. When asked if we would ever consider giving Morkmen a rematch without the ringer, we actually thought it was a good idea, but we realized that team would NEVER do the same for us. Although seeing Special Ed Ortiz would have been nice one more time.

Bruisers Continue Trend Upwards
June 12, 2012
The Bruisers started the season with a 1 and 5 record and held down last place in D1. All that now is a thing of the past. The Bruisers finished the regular season by going 5-1 to end up at 6-6 and streaking heading into the playoffs. Jimmy Ketterer and Matt Peace each scored 2 goals, and Vinny Budano had a goal and 2 assists in a 7-4 season ending win over the Minutemen. Mike Tuna - given one more chance to show he isn't Wally Pipp stopped 15 of 19 shots to earn the win. He also chipped in two assists, but we all know that Pete Nawrocki would have scored if he played instead.

Bruisers Heatin' Up
June 5, 2012
The Bruisers started the season 1-5 after a five game losing streak, landing them in unfamiliar territory in last place, as noted in this space by members of the Morkmen. But than they got healthy, worked off the hangover from yet another Fall season championship, and after winning 2 games in 24 hours, are headed to the playoffs. The second of the wins was a 6-0 shutout of the LI-Stars. Jimmy Ketterer led the way with a hat trick - Matt Brousseau had 2 goals and a helper, and Keith Nelson played 2 shifts leading the way for the Bruisers. Pete Nawrocki made 28 saves earning the shutout in his first game in net, taking away Mike Tuna AKA Wally Pipps job, who unlike the kid on Predators, wasn't playing a game for another team in our division last night. The win is the fourth in 5 games for the Bruisers who have only one game left in the regular season, and are guaranteed a spot in the postseason. If they get just one point in the final game of the year, they will guarantee a spot in the double elimination portion of the playoffs.
Just a few weeks ago on this website, an UNNAMED member of the morkmen came on and asked how it feels to be in last place. Well thanks to ANOTHER win over the Morkmen, the Bruisers climbed out of first and now tied with the morkmen in the standings. The Bruisers have all the tiebreakers. The Bruisers had a commanding 6-3 lead when the morkmen um i mean PREDATORS came back to tie it. Its pretty pathetic when a player on a team in our division guest plays or another team in our division against us and steals a point. But in the end Matt RUbin scored the winning goal for the Bruisers, who never trailed in the game. Sean Kenney had a big game - scoring 3 ties and adding an assist. Mike Tuna made a huge save on Matt Klein in the waning seconds of regulation to preserve the 6-6 tie and send the game to OT. With the win the Bruisers once again win the season series with the Morkmen 2 games to 1, and find themselves in control of their own destiny to make the playoffs with just two games left.
The bruisers lost to Animal house 3-2 after giving up 3 goals in the opening period. They had a 7 minute power play because dumb fuck Derek decided to fight someone or no reason and got all the penalty minutes.

Tuna Comes Up Big in Win
May 22, 2012
Mike Tuniewicz gave up 39 goals in his first 5 starts this season, winning only one of the matchups. But he turned in a solid performance in last weeks win over the morkmen, and tonight he was stellar in the pipes stopping 29 of 30 shots to earn the win over the stars. The win was a complete effort. There are no official stats but it would be fun to see who had the most blocked shots on the team. Matt Taub, Matt Rubin, Brandon Salz and Matt Peace all threw their bodies around and kept the big guns on the Stars off the scoresheet. Each blocked shot after shot keeping the Stars down and letting the offense do the rest. Every one of the 6 forwards had at least one point and also aided in the defensive effort blocking shots and back checking. Vinny Budano opened the scoring on a break after Kevin Searing and Jon Peace worked the puck through the neutral zone to send Budano in on the break. Rob Del Muro Jr. added to the lead in the second putting home a rebound of a Mike Nelson shot. 10 Seconds later the Stars answered - getting a goal from West Virginia Wilder on a snipe from along the goal line. It stayed 2-1 until the third when Nelson made a perfect pass from behind the net to Matt Brousseau who finished, upping the lead to 3-1 with over 9 minutes to play. Del Muro rounded out the scoring beating the defender to the puck to score into an empty Stars Net. The win is the Bruisers 2nd straight after losing 5 in a row and brings them into a tie with the Stars and within one point of the Specials(Morkmen).

A very "SPECIAL" victory
May 10, 2012
The Bruisers won a battle with their "rivals" the Morkmen, and in doing so ended their five game losing streak. Now i put RIVALS in quotations because to be a rival you have to do more than fight everytime you play us, and actually beat us one day where the game means something. Jon Peace moved up to forward and was the star of the show scoring a goal, and adding two assists, including a great assist on Rob Del Muro's game winner. Vinny Budano added two goals, Matt Brousseau came an assist away from a Gordie howe hat trick, and Sean Kenney added the empty netter to seal the deal. The game came with the usual Leone cheap shot, game misconduct and suspension. It also had its funny moments like when Captain Cangro called Lil Papi Ortiz "Special" and he flipped out. Its like a Seinfeld bit - only fat people dont like being called fat, and only retards hate being called what they are - RETARTED or Special. Anyway video of the game was sent upstate to the special olympic ice hockey team, probably costing Ortiz his dream to play on the little big stage. WIth the win the Bruisers jump out of the unfamiliar last place spot, and will soon get healthy. Top scorer Jimmy Ketterer and top grinder, scorer, annoying fuck Keith Nelson has started to skate after a devastating ankle injury which required surgery. Also missing from the game was the versitile Matt Zito and Jim Creamer(oblique). A loss tonight would have pretty much finished the Bruisers, and the Morkmen goalie almost pulled it off himself, playing phenominal in net - stopping chance after chance after chance. Mike Tuna bounced back making some really good saves, including a huge one on Matt Klein to earn the victory. Not to be forgotton is Kevin Searing who played his best game of the season, and Mike Nelson who blocked a huge shot by Luis Mendoza Milella who was so angry he wanted to fight Mike. Haha Typical Morkmen.
The Bruisers sloppy second period cost them another loss - their fifth straight - this time at the hands of the Predators 7-3. It is the first time since December of 2007 that the 5 time HLI champions have lost 5 straight games. THe team has never lost 6 straight games in franchise history.
The Bruisers lost their fourth straight game 4-3 at the hands of PLT thanks to a shorthanded goal with just 17 seconds left breaking a 3-all tie. The Bruisers offense never got going, all three goals were scored by defensemen.
The Bruisers mounted a big comeback against Animal House to tie the game in the third, but a turnover in the neutral zone led to a bad angle goal by the House and the Bruiser Losing streak reached 3. Sean Kenney had 2 goals in the loss - Matt Rubin scored a SHG and Mike Nelson's third period goal was huge, but not enough.

Bruisers Drop Two Straight
April 13, 2012
The Annual Bruiser Fall Championship Hangover has once again began to haunt the Bruisers. It seems each year after winning the HLI Cup in the leagues longest and most important season, the Bruisers falter at the start of the Spring season, 2012 has been no exception. The now 5 time HLI champs blew a 4-2 lead in a loss to the Predators, and fell 10-2 at the hands of the Morkmen and now stand at 1-2 on the season. So, is it time to panic? Not yet, the team has been missing key players, and there is plenty of time left in the season. The blueprint for both losses was strikingly similar. In both games the Bruisers either had a lead or were tied late in the second period before the Preds and Morkmen went on wild scoring sprees. The Predators scored 5 goals in a 4:53 span to turn a 4-2 Bruiser lead into a 7-4 deficet. The Morkmen took a 3-2 lead with 8 minutes left in the second, but scored four goals in less than five minutes to break the game open.

Just over a week after clinching their fifth Hockey Long Island championship the Bruisers, who were missing 4 regulars dug deep and found a way to pull off a big 10-9 come from behind win. After jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Vinny NOT MVP Budano and Sean Kenney, the Stars scored 5 of the next six goals in the 1st period to take a 5-3 lead. They would extend it to a 6-3 margin before Sean Kenney's unassisted goal and Brandon Salz' "snipe" got them within one. Kenney would add two more and Mike Nelson would add 2 of his own to get the Bruisers a lead in the third period. Vinny Budano, who didn't win the MVP of the playoffs, and didnt win MVP of this game, did however score the eventual game winner with just over 9 minutes to play. Matt Brousseau also scored in his return to the Bruiser lineup, and Mike Tuna stopped 24 shots for the win.
When you join the Bruisers chances are you will either be engaged in off ice drama, on ice drama or at the very least witness your fair share of the ups and downs of playing on a men's hockey team. But what you also do is get a chance to consistently play for a championship, and come out on the winning side. Thats something that this seasons 3 newest Bruisers saw first hand Tuesday night when the Bruisers exploded en route to their FIFTH championship in 12 seasons (5 years). It was their 7th trip to the finals - having only lost two times - both to Mayhem. Joe Cangro was named Playoff MVP and he saved his best for last by netting his first career playoff hat trick. Sean Kenney also added a hatty - and added 2 assists. The guy ended the season with 31 fucking goals, yes impressive enough where "fucking" needed to be added to the sentence. Vinny Budano, Mike Nelson and Jimmy Ketterer rounded out the scoring. Rob Del Muro added 2 assists and was on the ice for 6 Bruiser goals. While you wont find the efforts of Jon Peace, Matt Rubin, Brandon Salz and Matt Taub on the scoresheet, the Bruiser Defense was instrumental in slowing down Sergei Fedorov, slowing him to only one goal, which was scored in garbage time. Peace was matched up with him all game, and shut him down, forcing him to head back to Minnesota or Michigan in his little black car, with his bad hip and bringing with him the only hope the Whalers will ever have to beat the Bruisers for a title. And how about the job Mike Tuna did, not just in the Championship limiting the all-star to just one point, but all season long. He put up stellar numbers, and provided the stability the Bruisers have been looking for in the crease for years, even though he's old as fuck. For Tuna, Taub and Jimmy Creamer, they win "rings" in their first season on the team. But if you think that No other history was made on this night, you clearly didn't hear about Matt Rubin's epic parade to the penalty box. He used his physical nature to knock around their star, and in doing so took four minor penalties, and almost had to write a letter of apology to not get kicked from the game. In doing so, he wins the Goon award with most penalty minutes. Somewhere Keith Nelson was watching with crutches sad to see his penalty minute title being taken. It was a total team effort, Jim Creamer and Kevin Searing continuously beat Whalers to loose pucks as well. After the game the Bruisers announced they signed Mike Tuna to a contract extension, as his contract was set to expire. Most importantly, Vinny Budano although he did register an assist, yes really, he didn't win MVP! Lets get ready for our sixth party at Del muro's in June, spring season starts shortly.
The Bruisers golden chance to win their fifth Hockey Long Island championship was taken away from them at the hands of the Whalers, well ONE WHALER and 2 referees, and now face a deciding game three for the HLI Cup on Tuesday March 20th at Newbridge(9pm). Superstar I have No Business In Men's league number 25 scored the deciding goal with 1:06 to play after John Peace was tripped carrying the puck inside his own blueline, and for some reason not called. Mr. Former Red Wing Tryout took the puck and beat Mike Tuna for the winning shorthanded goal. Vinny Budano scored twice, Joe Cangro scored a shorthanded goal, and Sean Kenney also scored in defeat for the Bruisers, who never held a lead in the game.

BRUISERS HEADED BACK TO THE SHIP!
March 1, 2012
The Bruisers jumped out to a quick 4-0 first period against their HLI semi-final opponent the Whalers, and never looked back winning 5-2. WIth the Win the Bruisers advance to the HLI Championship for the 7th time in team history. They walked away with the trophy in four of the first 6 Championship series and can complete the drive for five with a win Tuesday over the winner of Sunday's Animal House/Whalers-HC game. Captain Joe Cangro opened the scoring with a great rush just 4:30 into the game. Vinny Budano than continued his scoring streak with a wrister 1:30 later to stretch the lead to 2-0. And not long after that Rob Del Muro backhanded a shot through the goalies five hole to extend the lead to 3-0. Sean Kenney who had 3 points in the game made it a 4-0 game with a shorthanded tally minutes later. Budano added his second of the game late in the third, and Mike Tuna stopped 20 of 22 shots for the win.
Things didn't look good for the Bruisers - just 5:02 into their regular season finale against Animal House they trailed 3-0 and looked headed to their 3rd straight loss and ready to be knocked out of first place. But than the Bruisers came together and put together a comeback that had the "House" reeling. Sean Kenney started the comeback scoring just 2 minutes later, and Vinny Budano scored with just 17 seconds left in the first period to cut the deficit to 3-2. Less than 2 minutes into the 2nd - Sean Kenney picked #7's pocket after he skated around yelling shit and waving his arms like the complete fucking asshole that he always is, the end result? Shrugged shoulders as he saw Kenney fake the pass and put the puck in the net to tie the game. And it didnt take long for Kenney to give the Bruisers the lead - Just 4:10 later he lit the lamp again giving the Bruisers a 4-3 lead. Mike Nelson would score and Jimmy Ketterer would add the final two goals in the Bruisers 7-5 win. With the Win the Bruisers clinched the first seed in the playoffs, while the House got the 2nd seed and lost to the Whalers in their first game.

The Bruisers have one final chance to clinch first place and a first round by in the upcoming playoffs this coming monday when they face Animal House in the season finale. Earlier in the week the House beat the Bruisers 2-1 in a close hard fought game. Vinny Budano, who moved to forward on a trial basis, scored the only goal for the four time HLI Champs. Mike Tuna was once again stellar in between the pipes but was charged with the hard luck loss.

MORKMEN GOALIE STEALS 2 POINTS
February 13, 2012
The Bruisers showed up to their matchup with the Morkmen shorthanded, and the Morkmen brought a hot goalie. The combination resulted in a surprising 5-1 Morkmen win over the 4 time HLI champions. It is the first ever win by the Morkmenn over the Bruisers in a game Sean Kenney played. THe Bruisers definitely felt the losses of Keith Nelson, Jimmy Ketterer, John Peace Matt Taub and Tim Grossmann. They peppered the Morkmen goalie with 33 shots but only Mike Nelson's top shelf wrister lit the lamp. With the loss the Bruisers still have work to do to clinch first place and the top seed in the upcoming playoffs. In related news this is the easiest scoresheet i have ever had to input.

Bruisers Win Game, Lose Nelson
February 2, 2012
The Bruisers turned in their worst effort in a long time last week, lost a key player for the season to an ankle injury, yet somehow were able to come out of their game with the Pioneers-D on top winning 7-4. The Pioneers put up a season high 39 shots on the 4 time HLI Champs but TUna came up big again - stopping 35 of them, including all 11 in the third period to earn the teams 7th straight win. Jimmy Creamer sparked the Bruiser offense with a power play goal, and assisted on another minutes later. Mike Nelson and Sean Kenney led the way for the Bruisers with 2 goals each. Rob Del Muro and Vinny Budano each added a goal. But the win was bittersweet as shortly after the game, the team learned that Keith Nelson's injured ankle would require surgery and he would miss up to a year of action. The surgery was performed successfully.

BREAKING: Nelson To Miss Remainder Of Season
January 24, 2012
Bruisers Forward Keith Nelson will miss the remainer of the 2011-12 Fall season with a broken ankle, and ligament damage that will require surgery. The injury happened in the first period of the Bruisers 7-4 win over the Pioneers. After taking a shot, he tried to stop and lost an edge and went feet first into the end boards, eerily similar to the way he broke his ankle 2 years to the month ago at Parkwood arena. There has been an ourpouring of support and concern including this heartfelt text from team Captain Joe Cangro "OMG Man". Matt Rubin echoed that sentiment with a text message saying "Shit man, that sucks". While there is speculation that he would try to tough out the injury to participate in his soccer game this week, brother Mike Nelson said "Crutch is crushed that his soccer season has come to an end, he is also upset about not being able to finish the hockey season". All kidding aside losing Keith is going to be a huge loss for a team that already lost Tim Grossmann to Hawaii. Nelson is one of the top scorers on the team, and a top faceoff guy who outworks his opponents on a regular basis. Get well soon, see you at the rink.
Bruiser Defense Honors MLK Day in Win
January 18, 2012
Playing on Martin Luther King day must have motivated the Bruisers Defense because just like the Black Leader - they spent the day taking shots. Only the Bruiser d-core weren't dumb enough to take shots fired from a gun, our guys stepped in front of pucks and therefor will not be honored with a National Holiday in their memory. Instead they led the way to their 6th straight win, this one by a score of 4-2. Not only did they set the tone with their great defensive effort, but they scored 3 of the four Bruiser goals. Vinny Budano (i know, i know, but its not a misprint) scored two goals, and Matt Rubin opened the scoring. Rob Del Muro Jr. scored the other Bruiser goal, while Mike Tuna stopped 24 of 26 shots fired at him. The defenses big game couldn't have come at a better time as leading scorer Sean Kenney and top play maker who never takes penalties, Keith Nelson were sick and their play was affected. With the win the Bruisers are now 10-3, and in first place in HLI d2.
The Bruisers won the seasons first two meeting with the Whalers by a combined score of 18-3, and the third game was nothing different as they easily dismantled the Whalers 11-4 for their 5th straight win. And the romp was on from the get-go. Just 31 seconds in Rob Del Muro converted a 2 on 1 with Sean Kenney for a quick 1-0 lead. The Whalers tied it later in the period before Sean Kenney scored on a wrister from the slot to regain a lead they would never relinquish. Kevin Searing scored just over a minute into the period to make the lead 3-1. After another Whalers goal, Ketterer followed with a sick goal followed by a better celebration, second only to a "Tebow" cele to make the score 4-2. Less than 2 minutes later Keith Nelson found Del Muro in the slot who one timed home his 2nd of the game. Captain Joe Cangro rounded out the second period scoring with just 25 seconds left. The Bruisers lit the lamp 5 times in the third period getting 2 from Keith "no balls" Nelson, and one each from the line of Del Muro, Kenney, and Ketterer. That line combined for 7 goals and 9 assists. The Bruisers outshot the Whalers 39-24 in the game. And since Tuna is still limp after the blow job we gave him in the last game summary we will take it easy on him. Tuna made 20 saves on 24 shots, 2 of the Whalers goals came on a 5 on 3 late in the third period when the game was out of reach.

Tuna Sets Tone
January 4, 2012
The Bruisers are historically one of the highest scoring teams in Hockey long Island, not just their division, but the entire league. This season there are 47 teams in HLI, and once again only one team has scored more goals than the Bruisers. The high powered offense has led them to four Championships. But this year they have a new element to an explosive offense, goaltending. Mike Tuniewicz has come on to the team and completely changed the dynamic of the team, and proved it again in the first game of 2012 stopping 29 of 31 shots in the Bruisers 7-2 win over the Pioneers-D. Dont let the final tally fool you, it was a one goal game in the third period when "Tuna" stopped shot after shot, most on breakaways or on the doorstep to keep the Bruiser lead at 1 before the offense put it away. In all, he stopped all 12 shots fired his way in the third. With the win he is now 5-1 with a 3.17 GAA. Thats fucking insane for a men's league. Rob Del Muro had the hat trick added an assist and even Tebowed after his third goal. Sean Kenney also had a 4 point night, and Keith Nelson had 3 points, and more surprisingly zero penalty minutes. It marks the third straight game without a penalty for Keith, which basically proves that once you start playing soccer, you turn into a fucking pussy. Either that or he is confused as to why hockey refs dont have red and yellow cards in their pocket. Joe Cangro also scored finishing a nice 2 on 1 with Vinny Budano. With the win the Bruisers move to 8-3 on the season, and have a 5 point lead for first place with 6 games to go.

Bruisers Send Message With Huge Win
December 28, 2011
Jimmy Ketterer's power play goal in the final minutes broke a 4-4 tie, and led the Bruisers to a huge 6-4 win over the top team in D1 the Predators. The Bruisers never trailed in the game, and got off to a good start led by goals from the blueline in the first period. Matt Rubin and Brandon Salz lit the lamp to jump out to a 2-0 lead. With the game tied at 2 in the 2nd - Sean Kenney and John Peace would restore the 2 goal lead going into the third. After the Predators once again fought back in a penalty filled 3rd period, Ketterer's snipe put the Bruisers up for good before Tim Grossmann's empty net goal clinched the two points. But the star of the game was Mike Tuna in net. He made 26 saves on 30 shots vs. the top team in the division above the Bruisers, including a few huge ones to keep the game tied at 4 in the third period.
The Bruisers scored four goals in a 6 minute span in the first period, and never looked back, beating the Whalers 8-3. Keith "Pele" Nelson and brother Mike scored 12 seconds apart in the first period to jump out to a 2-0 lead. The returning Tim Grossmann would add his first of the season 2 and a half minutes later before Matt Rubin's shorthanded goal gave the Bruisers a 4-1 lead. Both Keith Nelson and Grossmann would score additional goals and Sean Kenney would add two goals to round out the scoring. Mike Tuna returned to the Bruisers net after a back injury making 19 saves in the win.

Ketterer's Four Lead Bruisers over Morkmen(again)
December 10, 2011
There is no reason to wait to post a Morkmen game recap. As is the norm, the Bruisers once again beat Morkmen this time by a 7-4 score despite an amazing effort in net by the Morkmen goalie. The Bruisers peppered him with almost 50 shots on goal, and he did his best to keep his team in the game but in the end it wasn't enough. Rob Del Muro jr scored just 22 seconds into the game, and the Bruisers never trailed from there. Jimmy Ketterer scored 4 goals for the four time HLI champs who are now 11-2 all time vs. Morkmen, and 10-0 in games vs. them that Sean Kenney plays. Kenney himself had a good game with a goal and an assist including a sick breakaway goal. But Ketterer was the story tonight - adding an assist to his 4 goal effort including one of the snipes of the year, deserving of an "Artem Anisimov celebration". Keith Nelson added the other goal for the Bruisers, and Bob Stein returned to the lineup after missing the last season and a half recovering from shoulder surgery and added an assist on the blueline. Not lost in the mix was the effort in net by Vinny Budano who rebounded from a poor performance vs. Animal house to stop 29 of 33 shots - 2 of the goals against being very debatable(one with high stick, one with net off hinges). In all the win puts the Bruisers 2 points ahead of Animal house in the division with 9 games remaining.

Bruisers self-destruct, Lose first division game.
December 7, 2011
The Bruisers fell apart and gave up 4 shorthanded goals in their first loss inside their division to the Animal house falling 10-6. The game will forever be remembered for incidents happening off the ice, but on the ice the Bruisers self-destructed costing themselves two points in the standings. Not one part of the Bruiser game was going well. Goaltending let in some soft goals, the defense got caught pinching giving up numerous breakaways, and the power play fizzled, all before guys lost their cool resulting in a parade to the penalty box. The news isn't all bad though, as the Bruisers remain in first place in HLI's D2 divison, with a game against rival Morkmen on deck this coming Friday.
The Bruisers gave up 2 goals in 31 seconds to Mayhem to break a 4-4 third period tie en route to their second loss of the season 6-4. Both losses have come against teams in the division above the 4 time HLI Champions. Sean Kenney, John Peace, Keith Nelson and Matt Rubin all lit the lamp for the Bruisers.

5 Star Performance, Kenney's 5 Lead Bruisers
November 8, 2011
Sean Kenney scored 5 goals leading the Bruisers to a 6-5 win over the Ringers and a few members of the morkmen as well. The game was filled with penalties as both sides enjoyed multiple 5 on 3's and the Bruisers had 8 power plays in all. Rob Del Muro jr. had the 6th goal for the Bruisers in the third period while Mike Tuna made 27 saves in net improving to 3-0 as Bruiser Goalie. It was the second game in a row that the 4 time HLI Champion Bruisers trailed 3-1 in the first period before coming back to earn the two points.
The Bruisers have always had a knack for coming back late in games, but through one period last night against the Pioneers, there was a feeling of doubt on the bench. But Sean Kenney put the team on his back completing the hat trick in the beginning of the third period to complete a comeback from a 3-1 deficet. All three of his goals were on great individual efforts, with the third lifting the Bruisers morale. From there they dominated play - scoring 4 unanswered 3rd period goals for the 6-3 win. Kevin Searing had the primary assists on the next two goals, coming 1:11 apart. First he set up Rob Del Muro Jr who wristed in the go ahead goal from the slot. Then he set up Vinny Budano - who scored off the bad angle to give the Bruisers a 5-3 lead. Keith Homo Hoops Nelson took a break from fighting, and yelling at Tony the Ref to put the game away with a breakaway goal. Brandon Salz once again had a stellar game on defense, blocking many shots and helping goalie Mike Tuniewicz shut out the Pioneers after the first period. Tuna stopped 25 of 28 shots - improving to 2-0 as a Bruiser
Bruisers Erupt in 10-0 win
October 24, 2011
It took 3 games but the Bruisers finally put it all together. Offense, Defense, Goaltending, and a little bit more offense. They scored 6 third period goals including 3 in 1:48 en route to a 10-0 win over the Whalers-HC. Goalie Mike Tuniewicz stopped all 20 shots in his Bruiser debut for the shutout. Rob Del Muro Jr. had the hat trick with 2 assists, Mike Nelson had 2 goals, Brandon Salz had a goal and 2 assists, and Jim Creamer had his first career Bruiser goal, to go with 2 assists as well. And the big stat lines continue, Sean Kenney had 3 assists, the returning Jimmy Ketterer had a goal and 3 assists, Keith Nelson had a 3 point night, and even Vinny Fuck you Budano had an assist. The win puts the Bruisers record at 2-1, with 24 goals in the season's first 3 games. But they have a long way to go to match last season's offensive start - scoring 37 goals in the first four games and 64 goals in the first 7 games(all wins). And not to go unnoticed is the effort by the Bruisers defenseman. Matt Rubin once again anchored a suffocating defensive effort along with Salz, Matt Taub and kind of FU Budano.

Keith Nelson's wrister from the top of the circle gave the Bruisers a 6-5 overtime win after blowing a 5-2 lead in the 2nd period. Call up Matt Stacey stopped 28 of 33 shots for the win in net. Sean Kenney had 2 goals, Rob Del Muro Jr. and Joe Cangro rounded out the scoring for the 4 time HLI Champions. The win was the first of the season, and a big one, coming against a team that they will be battling with for the top spot in the division. Bruisers Fall in Opener
October 13, 2011
When the Bruisers took the ice for their first game since June there was a new look - no Jimmy Ketterer, no Greg Brenton, no Anthony Anzalone, no Mike Vecchi, yet the team battled but ultimately fell 9-8 to the Eurostars. The team trailed 6-3 before getting three straight goals to tie the game up in the final minutes of the 2nd period, and got a game tying goal from new defenseman Matt Taub with over 5 minutes remaining in the game but it wansn't enough. The Euro stars scored a shorthanded goal to retake the lead just a minute and 6 seconds later and held on for the 9-8 win. Mike Nelson had a 4 point night for the 4 Time HLI Champions.
The Bruisers put together a huge effort led by Jimmy Ketterer's 4 goals and 1 assist to advance to another Hockey Long island championship. They held a 4-0 lead in the third period before the Scorpions put up 5 goals while getting to within one at 6-5. Keith Nelson's bad angle goal was the eventual winner with 7 and a half minutes to play. Brandon Salz hosted another block party blocking shot after shot after shot. Sean Kenney had a goal and an assist and Rob Del Muro Jr scored the empty netter with just 1 second to play to seal the victory. To win the Championship the Bruisers need to beat Mayhem This Thursday night to force a winner take all championship game. The Bruisers have lost 2 of three matchups to Mayhem so far this season.

On The Brink
June 27, 2011
The Bruisers are on the brink of elimination after falling 4-2 to Mayhem in the Spring HLI playoffs. They have to beat the Scorpions Tuesday night to get to the championship series. Kevin Searing and Sean Kenney were the only ones who could score on the Mayhem goalie who was the star of the show stopping 35 of 37 shots.
Brandon Salz did a little bit of everything in the Bruisers first playoff game of the spring 2011 season. He blocked shots, played great defense, drew big penalties, and scored two goals in the Bruisers 4-2 win over the Scorpions

Back On Track
June 18, 2011
The Bruisers offense woke back up and the defense continued their impressive and as a result they broke their three game losing streak with an 8-2 win over the Whalers HC in the season finale. With the win they finish the season 8-3 and locked up the 2nd seed. 7 different players scored goals and the defense and goaltending continued to be great having only given up 5 goals in the last two games combined. Chris Jordan stopped 24 of 26 shots in his return after missing a game with Rick DiPietro syndrome - dudes always hurt. How about this for the craziest stat in the game, the Bruisers racked up 40 penalty minutes to just four for the Whalers.
The Bruisers gave up a 2-0 third period lead and the Referees helped decide the game late, resulting in a 3-2 Woodstock win. With the game tied at 2 and 30 seconds left the awesome refs decided to not grant the Bruisers their time out. This came seconds after blowing a play dead when a rebound came into the slot onto Brandon Salz' stick in great scoring position for no reason. When told that whistle sucked the referee simply said "I know". The loss is the third straight for the Bruisers, and with just two games to play the top seed is seemingly out of reach. It was the best defensive game the team has played in months, and considering they were going up against a team in a division above them, maybe their best all around game. Without the timeout the Bruisers didnt get the personnel they wanted to on the ice for the final minute leading to a game winning goal with less than a second left. The refs fucking suck - cost us a point fuck them. Brandon Salz played fantastic defense blocking many shots in the game, he put his body on the line but the refs just blow plays dead when the puck is loose so he was unable to reap the benefits of playing a sick game. Vinny Budano played great in net allowing just 3 goals on 23 shots.

Bruisers Fall To Mayhem
June 4, 2011
The shorthanded Bruisers fought hard but it wasn't enough to beat the Mayhem giving them their second straight loss, 9-7.
The New England Patriots couldn't do it, and in the Spring of 2011 the Bruisers dream of a perfect season wont come true as well. The Predators surprised the Bruisers beating them prettily handily ending the defending champs 10 game winning streak and bringing them back to earth. The Bruisers scored 3 goals in a span of 3:05 to tie the game at 3 - but were blitzed from there. Anthony Anzalone, Mike Nelson, John Mascetti and Keith Nelson scored for the Bruisers. Chris Jordan stopped just 22 of 31 shots in net for the loss. With the loss next Fridays matchup with Mayhem will most likely be for the division title. However, losses this week by Mayhem and the Bruisers have given title hopes to the Scorpions as well. The 4 goals was a season low for the Bruisers who were scoring over 9 goals a game coming in.

Stingers Implode, Bruisers Explode
May 17, 2011
The Bruisers were trailing 3-2 in the second period when Stingers Goalie Roid Rage used the butt end of his stick to hit the returning Sam Tim Grossmann in his throat causing Anthony Goon McEniry to come to his aid and fight the roid head. The outcome - a full 2 minute 5 on 3 power play which the Bruisers capitalized on enroute to a 6 goal second giving them their 10th straight win 9-4. Jimmy Ketterer, Keith Nelson, Grossmann and Kevin Searing each had 2 goals in the win. Sean Kenney had a goal and 4 assists although Anthony Anzalone's point streak did come to an abrupt end at three games. Chris Jordan made 30 saves for the win in net, he also added an assist.

Bruisers Pound Morkmen Into Submission
May 6, 2011
Just a month ago a member of the Morkmen promised that their next match up with the Bruisers would be a blood bath, and Nostradamus was absolutely correct. The Bruisers, playing without captain Joe Cangro and two of their top scorers in Mike Nelson and Greg Brenton beat down Bohomo and the Morkmen to the point where the goalie submitted with just over a minute to play. There was blood shed in a literal sense as well as Mike Vecchi was scratched in the nose while he was winning a fight and a sliver of blood kinda showed, so both teams got what they wanted. The morkmen got blood, and the Bruisers stayed unbeaten. 2 of Keith Nelson's 3 goals came shorthanded to go with 2 assists. Sean Kenney also had a Hat trick and a helper. Jimmy Ketterer had 2 goals and 2 assists. Rob Del Muro Jr. had a career high 5 assists. Chris Jordan had a fantastic game in net including possibly the save of the year to put an exclamation point on the W. The big statlines keep coming - John Mascetti had a goal and 16 penalty minutes. Vecchi added 2 helpers to his 14 PIM's. John Peace had 3 assists and Kevin Searing had 2 assists and Anthony Anzalone - still not a typo - extended his points streak to 3 games, and scored for the 2nd straight contest. Matt Rubin scored in his return to the ice as well after missing a few games. And how about the biggest stat of them all - the Bruisers have scored 56 goals in their first 6 games, all wins, and have scored 72 goals in their current 9 game winning streak going back to last seasons playoffs.

Kenney Lifts Bruisers in Overtime!
April 28, 2011
It's not everyday in sports where a matchup of two undefeated teams midway through the season lives up to the hype. This time it did, and then some. Sean Kenney's goal just 22 seconds into overtime was the difference as the Bruisers beat previously unbeaten Mayhem. It was a back and forth affair all game, but in the end the Bruisers offense was too much and overcame a third period deficet to notch the dub. Kenney and Keith Nelson each had to goals. Anthony Anzalone(yes, really) deflected in his first goal of the season, Rob Del Muro Jr and Jimmy Ketterer also scored for the defending HLI Champions. Ketterer's was as big as it gets tying the game after Mayhem scored twice to take a 3rd period lead on a 5 minute major power play. Mike Nelson returned to the lineup for the first time this season after recovering from an injury, and the new proud papa was all over the ice causing havoc. The Bruiser defense was missing some of its best defenders but Kevin Searing and Joe Cangro jumped on the blueline and contributed in a huge way, along with John Peace and Brandon Salz. Chris Jordan made 29 saves for the win in net. Up next for the Bruisers is a meeting with the Morkmen. They will have to do so without Anthony "Poon" McEniry who was issued a game misconduct in the third period of tonights game.

Bruisers Win, Showdown With Mayhem Next
April 22, 2011
After the Whalers turned a 3-0 Bruiser lead into a 1 goal game, Kevin Searing scored with under 2 minutes left in the 2nd period on an assist from Anthony Anzalone(NOT A TYPO) and the Bruisers scored 8 of ther last ten goals to win easily 11-4. They move to 4-0 with the win setting up a big mid-season matchup with the other undefeated team in the league, Mayhem. The Bruisers came into the season with the goal of playing team defense but it hasn't been needed yet as they are averaging 9.5 goals per game. All of this without one of their playoff stars Mike Nelson nursing a groin injury. They also did it without Mike Vecchi who had better things to do like go to a bakery and watch people make cakes. Really? Cakes? If he only knew, Mama Cangro made the team brownies - he coulda played and had his cake too!

Bruisers Out-Score Ship Washers
April 12, 2011
I am sorry that the post isn't up until almost 7pm the day after but after the USMMA told some of us that working a 9-5 job was a bad thing i spent most of the day rethinking my life, career, and really my place on this earth. But i guess my parents didnt raise me to be in the AHL of the Marines, like the merchant marine core so i will just live my shitty life and post the story now...
The Bruisers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and USMMA came back to tie it. And the rest of the game followed that trend resulting in the Bruisers winning a see-saw affair 9-7. The 4 time HLI champs led 7-5 in the final minutes but 2 power play goals by the guys who dont work 9-5 jobs tied the game with just 1:58 to play. But Sean Kenney found Jimmy Ketterer :57 later to take the lead and Keith Nelson netted the empty net goal to put the game away. Ketterer and Kenney had 5 combined goals and John Peace had 5 points. Rob Del Muro Jr. and John Mascetti rounded out the Bruiser scoring. Anthony McEniry had 0 penalty minutes again in a game played on the worst ice conditions since I tried to make an ice rink in my back yard - In June. Chris Jordan made a save, we think, in the win. With the win the Bruisers have started 3-0 and have won 6 straight games going back to the beginning of last years playoffs. They have scored 27 goals in their first 3 games.

Bruisers Cruise To Big Win
April 6, 2011
The Bruisers put forth a complete effort against the Scorpions and won their second straight game to start the Spring 2011 season and fifth game overall going back to last seasons playoff sweep. The game was scoreless after 1 period but the Bruisers scored early and often in the second en route to an 8-2 win. John Mascetti opened the scoring 36 seconds in to take a 1-0 lead. Less than 4 minutes later Rob Del Muro and Sean Kenney netted goals 10 seconds apart to grap a 3-0 lead. Then it was time for the Jimmy Ketterer show. The Playoff MVP from last season scored 2 goals in a span of less than 2 and a half minutes to up the Bruisers lead to 5-1 and they never looked back. Greg Brenton and Brandon added goals before Ketterer completed the hat trick with 2 seconds left, Mascetti added 2 assists and Vinny Budano added a pass! Chris Jordan stopped 26 of 28 Scorpion shots for his 2nd win in as many games to start the season. Anthony had a breakaway, but that lasted about as long as Brett Lindros' career.
Anyone who thought the Bruisers were going to have trouble after moving up to the D1 division, will have to wait at least one more game for their demise. The Bruisers pounced on the Predators early and often in the 2011 Spring season opener en route to a 10-5 win. The 4 time HLI champs scored 4 goals in the first period and took a 7-1 lead just 2 minutes into the third, doing so on a balanced attack reminiscent to their playoff run last season. Greg Brenton played like a man possessed scoring 3 goals and adding 2 assists. 7 different players scored goals, and Chris Jordan was brilliant in net before a couple garbage time goals ruined a great statline. Newcomers John Mascetti and Anthony Goon McEniry fit in well, and Anthony Anzalone still is too ugly for a facebook page.

We Are The Champions...Again
March 12, 2011
The Bruisers came into the HLI playoffs at an all time low. And a championship seemed like a pipe dream. Animal House finished the season in first place and swept the three game season series with the Bruisers. It seemed a Championship was their desiny. But that is why they play the games. The Bruisers made some big changes and came together as a team culminating in their 6-2 Championship victory over the HOUSE, ending an unbeaten postseason run. Greg Brenton opened the scoring with a goal on a 2 man advantage. After the House tied the game at 1, Sean Kenney sent a rocket into the back of the net for a 2-1 lead. Brenton followed with one of the great goals in HLI history, skating through the D, and as he was getting hit, sending a backhander into the top right corner from the left side of the net. 2010/2011 Superseason playoff MVP Jimmy Ketterer scored moments later and the rout was on. MIke Nelson stayed red hot in the playoffs adding a goal in the third before Kenney rounded out the scoring with a sick move on a breakaway. After that the party was already started. Animal House would get frustrated at their lack of chances because the Bruisers played another sound playoff game. Matt Rubin "Shot blocker" Brandon Salz Jon Peace and Keith Nelson anchored a defense that gave up only 7 goals in the entire playoffs. Kevin Searing and Joe Cangro shined on the penalty kill and Matty Longhair was steller in net subbing in for Chris Jordan who was the biggest reason we got to this part. Thanks go out to Anthony "the owner" Anzalone for making this season possible again. Next up for the bruisers - One for the Thumb!

One Win Away...
March 5, 2011
You guys didnt think I'd wait to write this one up did you? The Bruisers amazing playoff run continued tonight with a 4-3 win over the Animal House who had won all three games from us this year. With the win we are ONE WIN AWAY FROM THE FOURTH PARTY AT DEL MUROS. Sean Kenney scored 2 goals, Jimmy Ketterer added his fifth of the playoffs and Mike Nelson provided the eventual game winner with 5:44 left for the 3 time HLI champions. Chris Jordan continued his outstanding play giving up only 3 goals including a HUGE penalty shot save and final save with just 3 seconds to play. Playing shorthanded with out many key players the Bruisers came together and were once again paced by great fantastic play. In the Pioneers-D game Wednesday it was Matt Rubin, tonight Brandon Salz blocked many shots and Keith Nelson and Bob Stein helped Rubin shut down a team that netted 12 goals on us last game just one month ago. We are just 45 good minutes away boys. it's been way too long.

Team Effort Leads to Playoff Win
March 4, 2011
What a difference a week makes. The Bruisers avenged a bad loss last week to the Pioneers-D by soundly beating them in the first round of the HLI Playoffs 6-2. Jimmy Ketterer led the way scoring 4 goals, but the entire team contributed in what was the most complete team game this team has played in years. Matt Rubin was superb leading a defensive effort that allowed only 5 first period shots and 2 total goals. The brothers Nelson also had a goal apiece to round out the scoring. Chris Jordan made 23 saves for the win on his 26th birthday. Next up for the Bruisers is the Animal House - the winner heads to the HLI championship series.

If the Bruisers thought that winning this years HLI title was going to come easy - they know better after their last game with Animal House. After the two teams scored 3 goals apiece in the first period - the Bruisers fell apart in the 2nd giving up 5 unanswered goals en route to a 12-6 loss. The long offensive bright spot in the game was the play of Keith Nelson who netted a hat trick, Jimmy Ketterer and Greg Brenton each had 2 assists. With the loss Animal House clinched 1st place while the Bruisers and Morkmen clinched 2nd and 3rd setting up a first round playoff matchup even though there are two games to play in the regular season.

Good thing for HLI D2 he wont be with the D team in the playoffs. Sean Kenney had 2 goals and an assist in the loss for the Bruisers.

Pop Goes The Weasels - Jordan Brilliant In Win
January 19, 2011
Chris Jordan is starting to show why he is turning into one of the big stories of the 2010-2011 Spring Bruiser season. In last nights win over the Weasels he stopped 23 of 25 shots for another win in net. This is CJ's second season in net for the bruisers but he spent the first season doing his best Rick DiPietro impression missing most of it with injuries. But now he might be the difference the Bruisers need in their quest for their 4th HLI championship. For his effort Captain Joe Cangro gave CJ the first AnzyAlice Title belt. On the offensive side, Sean Kenney and Greg Brenton scored two goals, Keith Nelson and Matt Rubin netted the other goals as the Bruisers improved their record to 8-3-2. There was concern that the team would have a let down after their thrilling win last Friday night over the Morkmen, but Kenney quickly put that to rest scoring just 5 and a half minutes into the game. "I didn't know how we would respond after that big win, but then we realized that we almost always beat the Morkmen, we need to get as many points as possible because this division battle is going to come down to us and the Animal House trying to get that top seed" said injured Bruiser Anthony Anzalone. "If we always had let downs after a Morkmen win, we would have a lot of let downs, we beat them quite a lot. And last but certainly not least, the Bruiser Defense was fantastic, Mike Vecchi had one particular shift where he broke up 2 odd man rushes, and the rest of the guys did a great job in our own end.
Not even Scotty Bowman Coach Mike Vecchi or Al Arbour could have drawn the play up any better. Win the faceoff - get the puck to your superstar at the point - set a screen and have him let it rip. Greg Brenton won the faceoff - Tim Grossmann got the puck to Sean Kenney and when he let it rip - he made sure not to miss. Kenney's shot beat the Morkmen goalie with just 32 seconds left to give the Bruisers a 5-4 win in a big division matchup. The Bruisers uncharacteristically got off to a blazing start scoring the games first three goals in the first 5 minutes and 44 seconds. Grossmann scores just a minute 6 into the game on a top shelf wrister. Just under 2 minutes later Mike Nelson lit the lamp again for the third straight game on a nice feed from Kenney to take a 2-0 game, and a few minutes later Brenton scored for the 3-0 tally. But the Morkmen would fight back for a goal in the first and 3 goals in the 2nd periodto take a 4-3 lead into the final period. But as the Bruisers always do they stepped it up in the third period. Rob Del Muro deflected in a Joe Cangro shot with just 5:21 left to tie the game up at 4 setting up the thrilling finish. The Bruisers defense was stellar all night while missing two key defenders. Mike Vecchi, Matt Brousseau, Brandon Salz and even Vinny Boner Budano held the Morkmen, a team with the most goals in all of HLI D league to just 4 goals. Chris Jordan was also great in net stopping 25 shots for the win. In the entire HLI composed of 49 teams only 4 teams (all in same division) had scored more than the Morkmen coming into the game.

BRUISERS EXPLODE IN 2ND, TIED FOR FIRST
January 7, 2011
Its becomming a trend this season for the Bruisers, fall behind early, rally late, hope that it isn't too little, too late. Last night against the Pioneers-D, the 3 time HLI champs stuck to that gameplan, and came away victorious. They trailed 1-0 going into the 2nd period, when Sean Kenney scored on the power play, his first of the season to tie the game at one. It was short lived though, as just 10 seconds later the Pioneers would re-take the lead. Just 3 and a half later, they'd tack on another goal and the Bruisers had them right where they wanted, down 3-1 late in the second. Than like clockwork the Bruisers exploded. Rob Del Muro Jr. scored on a breakaway after a give and go with Sean Kenney to make it a one goal deficit. Just 22 seconds later, Kevin Searing kept the puck in the zone on a clearing attempt and Kenney found Del Muro who backhanded in his 2nd goal in 22 seconds - cue the fist pump. And on the next shift the 94-95-96 line would give the Bruisers the lead to stay. Tim Grossmann(94) and Mike Nelson(95) scored goals 54 seconds apart, and linemate Keith Nelson(96) had assists on both. In the third Joe Cangro found the top far corner on an odd man rush - sniping the Bruisers to a 3 goal lead, which would have been more sweet if he accompanied it with a fist pump since a Pioneer told him he skated like a 9 year old. What the fuck is a Pioneer anyway, and who names their hockey team Pioneers? Either way that team scored twice late to make it a one goal game before Sam Tim Johnny Canuck Grossman Kvasha scored with just 47 seconds left to put the game away. The Bruisers win coupled with an Animal House win over the Morkmen put the three teams in a 3 way tie for first place. The Bruisers and Morkmen have a showdown next week on the road in Long Beach. Fans feel free to contact Anthony Anzalone for great travel packages if you want to come watch your favorite Hockey Long Island team face the Morkmen on the road.

BRUISERS FALL IN OT
December 28, 2010
Bruisers fall 6-5 in OT to the Animal House
It was a tough loss for the bruisers who battled back from a 5 - 2 deficit. The bruisers were missing the teams leading scorer greg Brenton along with key players Rob Del Muro and Keith Nelson. Matt Peace filled in skating on a line with Jimmy and Samtim and played as if he belonged on the team. Sean Kenney and Jimmy Ketterer came up with a huge shorthanded goal to make it 5 to 4 BEFORE captain Cangro tied it with 40 seconds left. The bruisers then fell in OT when matt rubin was tripped along the boards with no call being made. Vinny budano stood out for the second game in a row and mike nelson was his usual grinding self.

Bruisers Beat Down Scorpions
December 23, 2010
A balanced scoring attack and a miracle happened to help the Bruisers beat the Scorpions in interleague play. 6 different players scored goals for the Bruisers and the miracle was that one of them was VINNY BUDANO. That's right the same Vinny Budano who hadn't scored all season and couldn't score on an empty net if he was on a penalty shot score not one but TWO goals. We are still unsure if his second goal was scored using a hockey stick or his boner from scoring his first goal. By the end of the game the Scorpions were so frustrated by not being able to keep up with the bruisers that they just started fighting and being pussies. I dont blame them b/c if Vinny Scored against my team twice i'd be embarrassed as well.
The Bruisers had a heartbreaking loss last night to Blue Thunder 6-5. After trailing 5-1 late in the 2nd period - the Bruisers scored 4 goals in a span of 2 minutes and 15 seconds to tie the game. But with just 41 seconds in regulation the Thunder would win the game on a breakaway goal. But its all ok because at least our second leading scorer got to go to the bar instead of playing.

December 13, 2010
When shaking hands with the victorious Bruisers after Sundays HLID2 matchup - the Morkmen said " Go blog about this" So here it is our post game blog. Jimmy Ketterer set up Rob Del Muro for the game winning goal with just over 4 minutes to play and the Bruisers avenged an early season loss to the Morkmen with a 8-6 win. Captain Joe Cangro scored 2 goals, Keith Nelson Showtime Peace, Del Muro and Ketterer each had 3 points. Team Jew Brandon Salz scored goal on an end to end rush on one of his 8 crazy Hanukkah nights. Chris Jordan got the win in net for the Bruisers. Matt Rubin also had a goal and an assist.

Bruiser Comeback Helps Earn Tie
November 30, 2010
The Bruisers seemed overmatched by a good team from a division above them - falling behind 6-2 with just 2:33 left in the 2nd period. But then the Bruisers scored 3 goals in less than 2 minutes to propel them back into the game - and headed into the final frame down 7-5. And after Greg Brenton scored his 4th of the game to make it 7-6, Mike Nelson scored the clutch game-tying goal with just over 8 minutes left to tie the game. Both teams had power plays in overtime but couldnt convert. Goalie Chris Jordan made 31 saves inclucing all 14 shots in the third period and overtime in his season debut. Tommy Lai and Jimmy Ketterer scored the other Bruisers goals. Jon peace made a great save himself when Jordan got caught out of the net in OT to preserve the Tie.
For the second time in a week, The Bruisers defense was outstanding, Vinny Budano carried a shutout into the third period, and the offense had a balanced attack. The result? the Bruisers skated their way to their 2nd straight win over Hex-D at Newbridge rink. 5 different players lit the lamp for the Bruisers who improved their record to 3-2. The story was the team defense, and goaltending, but another developing story is the play of Mike Nelson who scored a shorthanded goal for his 3rd goal in 2 games. The older Nelson, is clearly feeling more comfortable in his 2nd season with the Bruisers, and it is starting to show on the scoresheet. Anthony Anzalone had one of the best shifts of the season, diving to block a slap shot on the defensive end, and getting an assist on Jimmy Ketterer's goal at the other end of the ice just seconds later. "Plays like that set the tone and fire up the guys, especially when Anzy does something like that, the team rallies around him" forward Rob Del Muro said after the game. "But i cant say enough about the job that our defense has done, Vecchi, Rubin Lazar and Peace were great again, that's 2 straight games they were unbelievable" he continued. In the Bruisers 3 wins this year they have given up 5 goals, in their 2 losses, they have given up 20.
The Bruisers got back on track Wednesday night with a convincing 7-1 win over the Sharks(2-2). Rob Del Muro scored the games first 2 goals in the final 3:04 of the first period, the final coming with just 4 seconds left. Mike Nelson added 2 goals in the 2nd period. Greg Brenton, Keith Nelson and Jimmy Ketterer also scored for the Bruisers who evened their record at 2-2. Bob Stein played an outstanding game on the blueline moving back from the Center position. Vinny Budano had a chance at a shutout but really messed that up as always.

Animal House scored 4 goals in a 3 minute and 4 second span in the first period and never looked back. Vinny Budano played better in net but the 4-1 deficit after one period was much to come back from. Greg Brenton, Jimmy Ketterer and Keith Lazar scored for the Bruisers who are now 1-2
The Bruisers gave up 7 first period goals and the result was their first loss of the Fall 2010 Season. Lost in the Loss was the effort by Greg Brenton who scored 2 goals and had 4 assists. The Bruisers scored 3 power play goals - Anthony Anzalone netted his first of the season.
Bruisers trade self-proclaimed "Goalie" Vinny "BOOOOO"-dano (who let up a touchdown amount of goals last night in the 1st period)for a 2041 7th Round Draft pick to the Average Joes(who to my knowledge dont exist anymore and have never won an HLI game) Also the Bruisers will have to send 100 pucks and 15 water bottles along with Vinny and a bottle of Aftershock just to make this trade fair to the Average Joes. Bruisers are now looking to sign a Free Agent Goalie. There are no requirements for this job as anyone will do better then Vinny Budano. So if you are between the ages of 12 and 75 and have at least one leg, one arm, and partial vision, we are interested....That is all!
Searing, Cangro Lead Bruisers To Opening Night Win
October 14, 2010
Nearly 4 months after their last game the Bruisers opened the Fall 2010-11 season with a new roster, new look and new results. Kevin Searing and Joe Cangro each netted two goals and Vinny Budano stopped 27 shots in a 6-3 opening night win over the Pioneers-D. The Bruisers, donning new uniforms were down 1-0 and short two men when they scored the first goal of the season. John Peace stole the puck and scored a breakaway goal to get the Blue and Green on the board. But the real turning point of the game came in the second period. Trailing 2-1 entering the frame the line of Cangro-Searing and Chris Jordan tore shit up. The line scored two goals in 15 seconds(Cangro and Searing respectively) with Jordan assisting on both. just a minute and a half later Rob Del Muro found Greg Brenton in front of the net for his first goal of the season. And less than a minute later - Cangro netted his 2nd of the night on a great one man rush. Searing's 2nd of the night came 3 and a half minutes later on a rebound ended the scoring.

A bad first period proved to be too much to overcome for the Bruisers(4-5) last night in Bethpage. The Court Officers scored 4 times in the first frame to jump out to a 4-1 lead. MIke Nelson scored twice for the Bruisers who got to within one goal by the midway point in the third period. Sam Tim Grossmann scored in the final seconds of the 2nd period to help spur the comeback attempt, and Jimmy Ketterer scored 2 third period goals but the officers scored an insurance goal with 3:49 left and won 7-5.

BUDANOS BIRTHDAY WIN
May 13, 2010
On his 22nd birthday Vinny Budano made 21 saves to earn his third win in three tries as the Bruisers evened their record at 4-4 entering the final third of the Spring season. Jimmy Ketterer and Sean Kenney combined for 5 of the six goals and Tommy Lai scored in the third period of his season debut. Kenney added 3 assists to his 2 goals.
Just when it looked like it might be a lost season for the Bruisers they overcame the largest of odds to get one of the teams biggest wins in a few seasons. Using backup goalie Vinny Budano against the undefeated Mayhem the Bruisers pulled out a thrilling overtime win giving them much needed momentum heading into the back half of the spring Season. Sean Kenney had a Hat trick and an assist and Jimmy Keterrer scored the overtime winner. Budano, starting in net in place of the injured starter Chris Jordan stopped 40 of 43 shots for his second win in as many starts this season. Next up for the Bruisers is d2 RedRum. Keith Lazar made his return to the lineup after ball removal surgery and scored a goal...on Vinny.
"Sometimes you tip your cap and move on" said Bruiser Forward Anthony Anzalone after the Bruisers 5-2 loss to the Court Officers. The tipping of the cap referred to Court OFficer goalie Billy Smith who stopped 30 shots many of them in spectacular form to send the Bruisers to a 2-4 record.

TROUBLE IN THE THIRD
May 1, 2010
The Bruisers entered the third period with the Scorpions in a 2-2 tie. But when all was said and done the Bruisers lost a big division game after giving up 7 goals on 14 shots in the final frame. Sean Keney scored twice in the first for the Bruisers on assists from Brandon Salz but it was not enough. Goalie Chris Jordan did all he could do and was not to blame for the third period woes.

FAST START, SLOW FINISH
April 28, 2010
The Bruisers scored two goals in the first 3 minutes against the Ice Hogs, but the tides were turned when the Hogs scored 6 straight goals en route to an 11-5 victory. Sean Kenney and Keith Nelson stayed hot each recording 3 points in the loss. Bob Stein and Jon Pesce also scored for the Bruisers(2-2).
Another game with the Morkmen - another altercation with 24 Stony Brook, and another Bruiser win vs the Morkmen. Been there, done that before. The Bruisers lit up the scoreboard despite missing 3 of their offsensive leaders. Keith Nelson had 4 goals and an assist and the three new Bruisers all had their first points in a 11-4 rout of the Morkmen. Sean Kenney had 3 goals and did his best Salzberg impression on a penalty shot, well you know the kind that should be called a penalty attempt - he didnt actually get a shot off. Chris Jordan woke up for the game and had 23 saves for his first Bruiser win. Joe Cangro showed his toughness by fighting the 3 time D2 douchebag of the year from Stony Brook.

The Bruisers had no business being in their game with Hex-D by the time the game was only 10 minutes old, yet they held a 2-0 advantage. Goalie Chris Jordan was a late scratch and back up Vinny Budano was not ready when the game started so the 3 time HLI Champs had to play the first 6:18 of the game without a goalie. However when Budano finally skated on the ice the score was still 0-0. Than a duo of Jimmy Ketterer Power Play goals gave the Bruisers a lead that they wouldn't give back. Keith Nelson added a goal and an assist and Sean Kenney and John Pesce assisted on 2 goals in a 4-3 win over Hex-D, a game that ended in a 10 player brawl. The fight started with just 15 seconds left after a Hex Player number 19 decided to be a creampie and start hitting because he couldnt score. "I understand why Hex would want to fight, we knocked them out of the playoffs last season, we have won 3 straight vs. them, and they couldn't score on an open net tonight, it sucks to suck" said Rob Del Muro Jr. who missed his first career Bruiser game due to injury. Once Budano settled in net - he stopped 23 of 26 shots for the win. John Pesce stopped 2 shots while minding the net while Budano got dressed. Ketterrer ended the game with a hat trick and 27 PIM's.

Jordan made 26 saves on 33 shots including many big saves on some good chances but it wasn't enough. Rob Del Muro Jr. scored the first 3 Bruiser goals, and Jimmy Ketterer scored the fourth goal for the 3 time HLI Champs. Sean Kenney had 2 assists in the loss. Bruisers Beat Hex-D, Advance in Playoffs
March 9, 2010
The Bruisers scored three times in the first ten minutes of their HLI quarterfinal playoff game and held on to beat Hex-D 4-2. Sean Kenney dangled around and through the Hex Defense to open the scoring. The Hex would tie the game at one on a rebound goal, but less than a minute and a half later Greg Brenton scored on the power play on a sick deflection of a Steve Plackis slap shot to retake the lead. With some good luck Rob Del Muro Jr. extended the lead to 3-1 with 5:45 remaining after his dump in took a crazy bounce off the glass and went into a vacated net. Neither team scored in the 2nd and after Hex got within 1 goal in the third - Bob Stein scored to help regain the 2 goal lead exactly one minute later. Both goalies were spectacular in the game, Vinny Budano saved 15 shots in his top performance in recent memory for the win. Next up for the Bruisers, top seeded Mayhem on Thursday night at Parkwood - the winner goes to the Championship, the loser goes to the loser bracket where they will face elimination.

Bruisers Win Playoff Preview
March 1, 2010
In a warm up for their first round playoff game with Hex-D, the Bruisers sent a message scoring nine times, and chalking up their first win of the season over Hex. This Sunday though, the two meet with a lot more than a regular season win on the line. Sean Kenney scored twice and added two assists, Anthony Anzalone lit the lamp and added a helper in the Bruisers 9-5 win. With the Win the Bruisers clinched the two seed in the HLI playoffs after finishing the season 9-7-1. In the season series with Hex-D the Bruisers went 1-2. "This was a big confidence boost" said captain Joe Cangro who had 2 goals and an assist in the win. Rob Del Muro Jr. added a goal and 2 assists, Brandon Salz and Mike Vecchi played well in their call up from the Roller Derby League, Salz had a goal and an assist, Vecchi had 2 assists. Vinny Budano made 22 saves on 27 shots for the win in net.
With Tie, Bruisers Clinch Playoffs
February 18, 2010
Even though some people have problems with the play by play write ups - at least they are reading it - here we go - The Buisers got off to a great start against the Scorpions but blew a 2 goal lead late in the 3rd period and ended up tying the Scorpions 5-5. With the Point the Bruisers will be playing in the playoffs. Rob Del Muro Jr. opened the scoring with a goal just 4 and a half in on a pass from Greg Brenton. With the game tied at 1 in the second the Bruisers exploded for 3 goals - Joe Cangro continued his hot start with a goal off a rebound on the doorstep, followed by one from Jimmy Ketterrer who took a rebound and deposited it top shelf. Moments later the Bruisers took a 2 goal lead on a power play tally from Del Muro. But the Scorpions would get to within 4-3 on a quick goal before Brenton scored to make it 5-3. The 3 time HLI champs couldnt hold that lead as the Scorpions came back - with the tying goal coming with 1:54 left. Joe Cangro hit the post in OT but they couldnt convert.
Captain Cangro, Stein Lead Bruisers to Huge Win
February 10, 2010
Captain Joe Cangro broke out of a scoring slump in a big way netting two early goals and adding an assist, and Bob Stein turned the momementum the Bruisers way with a Knock out of Giancarlo Rancanelli in a first period fight. Rancanelli took the initial penalty - a 5 minute major for slashing leading to the fight which Stein won after a few punches and a fight ending throw down right on the Jersey Shore wannabe's ass. The Bruisers got out of their slump by playing smart hockey and capitalizing on the power play. After Cangro opened up the scoring on a mini-breakaway - Jimmy Ketterrer's shot was deflected in by Matt Brousseau for a 2-1 lead. With just over a minute later Rob Del Muro Jr. Took a Cangro pass and put it in the net for the PP goal to make it 3-1. The Swordfish scored a goal to start the second - but Del Muro netted another PP goal off a rebound from a Brousseau shot to regain the 2 goal lead. Just minutes later it was Cangro again - finishing a play set up by Keith Lazar who had 3 assists. Ketterrer and Sean Kenney each added 2 goals from there to jump out to a 9-4 lead. The Swordfish scored 2 late goals to finish the game with a 9-6 loss. "We wanted this game badly, not just because we had a little losing streak, but because of the great rivalry that has evolved between the two teams" said Captain Cangro. "We are happy to get the win but have to look at the big picture, we are 3-0 vs. the Swordfish this year, but only 5-7 vs. the rest of the league, we need to step it up if we want our fourth title" said Anthony Goon McEniry added 2 penalty minutes in his 9 seconds of playing time. "With all the crap that that team has talked on the ice and on the websites, of course it feels good to get the win but like I have said all along, we need to pay attention to the teams above us in the standings, this was a good confidence boost" said Rob Del Muro Jr. after the game. Dont forget that the Bruisers are now on twitter for up to the minute updates.
The Bruisers suffered another heartbreaking loss - this time at the hands of Mayhem. The Bruisers fell behind just 9 seconds into the game and Mayhem used that momentum to jump out to a 6-1 lead. But as they always do the Bruisers fought back. Jimmy Ketterrer scored twice and With just under 10 minutes to play Steve Plackis roofed a wrist shot to get the Bruisers within two. They were unable to convert on a PP with 6 minutes to go and with just over a minute and a half left Rob Del Muro Jr. who opened the scoring for the Bruisers in the 2nd period, was unable to finish on a shorthanded breakaway. Less than 30 seconds later John Showtime Pesce scored his first career Bruiser goal to get the score to 6-5. But Mayhem would add an empty net goal to seal it. The Bruisers are now 7-7 and fighting to just make the playoffs.
Going Down Fast
January 29, 2010
Even a 3-1 first period lead wasn't enough to get the Bruisers out of their funk. They would give up 4 third period goals - to turn a 3-3 game into a 7-4 loss to the Euro Stars bringing their record to 7-6 with only 4 games remaining in the Fall regular season. Bob Stein scored 2 goals, Jimmy Ketterrer and Sean Kenney also scored for the Bruisers. The Bruisers have now lost 3 of 4 and their next two games will be against Mayhem and Hex-D.
Another Shorthanded Loss to Hex-D
January 19, 2010
Once again the Bruisers were missing key players for a game against Hex-D and it resulted in a tough 6-1 loss. Rob Del Muro Jr. had the only goal for the Bruisers - the loss drops them in the standings - and they are now 0-2 against Hex-D this season.
Big 2nd Period Lifts Bruisers
January 15, 2010
The Bruisers scored 5 second period goals including 3 from Greg Brenton to take down Mayhem. The two teams came into the contest tied for third place in the division. Jimmy Ketterrer also had a hat trick for the Bruisers. Sean Kenney, Keith Lazar, and Rob Del Muro each scored a goal, Steve Plackis scored twice. Vinny Budano stopped 13 shots for the win and added an assist on Lazars goal. With the Win the Bruisers move to 7-4 with a rematch with Hex-D looming this Sunday night. Hex-D leads the division and beat the Bruisers last week 4-3 on a late goal.
Shorthanded Bruisers Fall on Late Goal
January 5, 2010
The odds were against the Bruisers before the puck even dropped. Not only were they playing without stars Jimmy Ketterrer and Sean Kenney, but top defensemen John Showtime and Steve Plackis missed the game - and top forward Bob Stein was inactive. Add to that - just 6 minutes in Keith Nelson left the game with an ankle injury and you had to wonder where the scoring would come from. But they put together an incredible team effort. Joe Cangro had a first period goal and trailed 3-1 in the third when Dan Mahoney drew a 4 minute power play. And the PP went to work - Tommy Lai took a breakout pass from Vinny Budano and found Rob Del Muro who one timed a wrister past the goalie with 5:38 to go to cut the deficet to 1. Than just a minute and a half later Del Muro carried the puck into the zone and found Joe Cangro who's shot was stopped but Tommy Lai put in the rebound to tie the game at 3 with just 4:08 to play. But a defensive miscue led to Hex-D scoring with just 2:02 to play. That was the difference as the shorthanded Bruisers fell 4-3.
Back On Track
December 29, 2009
After taking a thumping to Hex-D the Bruisers rebounded with a big effort in beating the Euro Stars 7-5. The two teams came into the game tied for first place in D1 - now the Bruisers claim the spot by themselves. Tommy Lai returned to the lineup to score 2 goals and add an assist. Jimmy Ketterrer, Keith Lazar, Rob Del Muro Jr, Sean Kenney and Matt Brousseau added goals for the Black and Red. The Bruisers scored twice shorthanded. Vinny Budano made 18 stops in net for the win. Up next for the Bruisers is a rematch with Hex-D who beat them 12-4 in the last game.
December 17, 2009
The Bruisers Got a D1 Reality check against the Scorpions in their 12-4 loss Wednesday night. The scorpions scored 4 first period goals and jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Bruisers showed some life. Rob Del Muro Jr. and Keith Nelson scored goals 15 seconds apart to get with in 5-2. Then Jimmy Ketterrer scored on an outstanding individual effort minutes later to get to within 2 at 5-3. But just 12 seconds later the scorpions scored to take back the momentum and scored the next 6 goals before Del Muro added a garbage time goal. The loss puts the Bruisers at 5-3 tied for first place in the division with a game against Hex-D on Dec. 28th upcoming - with first place on the line
Bruisers Beat Swordfish(Again)
December 9, 2009
In their first game since officially being moved up to D1 the Bruisers put forth a big effort in beating the Swordfish for the second time this season 3-1. The win moves the three time HLI Champs into first place in the division with a 3-0 record vs. the teams in D1. Sean Kenney had 2 goals, Rob Del Muro Jr. netted an insurance goal and Vinny Budano was solid when called upon in net. "I felt bad for Vin, he should have had a shutout - they only got a 5 on 3 goal off a skate, tough way to lose a shutout but I'm sure he'll take the win" said Del Muro after the game. The win gives the Bruisers 3 straight wins over the Fish starting with the 2008 summer Championship game. This game was intense from the outset - with rowdy fans on the Fish side and revenge on their mind they came out flying and hitting. But the Bruisers weathered the storm and dominated the offensive chances the rest of the game. "We knew they wanted this one badly, but after the first 2-3 minutes when Plack nailed that kid on the boards the ice was tilted our way, their goalie kept their team in the game, it easily could have been 7 or 8 to 1 in the end" said Anthony Anzalone who continued "teams dont realize we can play any style and be successful, if you want to come out and play physical we will man up, if you want to come out and play a skating game, we can do that too." "I love beating that team, we hate them, they hate us, its a good rivalry, but the bottom line is look at the standings, right now they are a bottom of the league team, we should beat them, its the good teams we need to start worrying about and not making too much out of this game."
Bruisers Top Mayhem
November 24, 2009
For the first time in weeks the Bruisers played hockey without any un necessary incidents. Like most matchups with Mayhem this one was neck and neck all game - but the Bruisers pulled out a 9-7 win thanks to a well balanced scoring attack. Jimmy Ketterrer had 3 goals, Keith Nelson and Bob Stein each had 2. Sean Kenney had a goal and Rob Del Muro Jr. added an empty net goal for some insurance. John Showtime and Sean Kenney had 4 assists each in the win - Vinny Budano made 27 saves for the win in net. The Bruisers record now stands at 4-2 with 11 games left. They take on the last place Outlaws-D in their next game.
November 17, 2009
The bruisers overcame many odds in their exciting victory over the Animal House Guinea's at Freeport arena. Not only did the Bruisers have to deal with terrible arena conditions, there was so much fog in the bubble that you couldnt see the scoreboard or the other end of the ice. But they also had to overcome some over-aggressive primadonna wannabe tough hockey players. After the Animal house warmed up without helmets on, they proceded to take cheapshots and play very aggerssively in an effort to intimidate the Bruisers. But Keith Nelson showed Paisan number 21 what tough was when he beat his ass in a brawl that the Animal house player started. Jimmy Ketterer scored 2 goals, Bob Stein added a goal but it was Sean Kenney who broke a 4-4 tie with less than 3 minutes to play with a slap shot that beat the House Goalie. Vinny Budano was great in net stopping 22 shots for the win.
Swordfish lose their Easiest matchup of Year
November 6, 2009
It was supposed to be the easiest game of the season for the Swordfish. Playing a team in a division below them that had lost 2 bad games in a row. Even their captain reminded their team in warm ups - "This is our easiest game tonight guys, we've got this" said Jay Beltram. But what the Swordfish forgot is that the last time they met the Bruisers - they lost. Last night at Parkwood the Swordfish had a rude awakening. If that was their easiest game of the season they probably wont win. The Bruisers took it to them all game long dominating in a 6-2 win. Jimmy Ketterrer had the hat trick - Steve Plackis, Keith Nelson and Rob Del Muro Jr each had a goal and an assist and Vinny Budano had a bounceback game in net with 20 saves. The win evens the Bruisers record at 2-2 and gives them plenty of confidence going into the final 13 games of the season. "We really wanted this one, we hate those guys, their scumbags and we weren't losing this game" said Bruiser forward Rob Del Muro Jr. "We remember what they did last time we played them in the playoffs, and now they added Toe Drag, there is nothing to like about that team" said Joe Cangro. Joe was referring to the fight that 22 started in the playoff game that resulted in many suspensions for the sword-pussies. 22 - Chris Shiro tried to play a dick style of hockey again last night but was put in his place by Steve Plackis.
Bruisers Drop 2nd Straight
November 4, 2009
Red Rum scored on their first shot on net and set the tone by taking a quick 3-0 lead on the Bruisers. Although the Bruisers were able to come back and tie the game at 4 - Red Rum took advantage of sloppy Bruiser play in all areas of the game and came out with a 10-8 win. Sean Kenney did his best to keep the team in the game scoring six times and adding an assist. Rob Del Muro Jr. Scored the other two Bruiser goals. Vinny Budano had his worst day as a Bruiser goalie making only 11 saves on 21 shots. The Bruisers try to even their record at 2-2 on Thursday night against their biggest rivals, the Swordfish

Shorthanded Bruisers Fall Again
August 10, 2009
Playing without star forwards Jimmy Ketterrer and Kimber Auerbach the Bruisers Dropped their second straight game 10-6 at the hands of the Outlaws. The key moment came with just 2 tenths of a second left in the second period. After trailing 5-0. The Bruisers stormed back - goals by Tommy Lai, Sam Tim Grossmann and a PP goal by Rob Del Muro Jr. made it a 5-3 game with just 1:46 to go in the 2nd. But an Outlaw undressed the defense to light the lamp with less than a second to play, that was the back breaker. The Outlaws capitalized on that momentum shift by scoring twice in the opening minute of the period to make it an 8-3 game. Third period goals by Del Muro, Bob Stein and Sean Kenney were not enough to close the gap. That line combined for 10 points, Kenney had a goal and 3 assists, Stein a goal and 2 assists and Del Muro had 2 goals and 1 assist. Tommy Lai added a goal and 2 assists from the Point. The Bruisers are now 4-2

July 29, 2009
Down 6-2 late in the Third period to the other Unbeaten team in the Division - most people were looking forward to Sundays Championship rematch with Mayhem. But not the 16 Bruisers on the ice. Bob Stein scored his first goal of the season to make it a 6-3 game. Then shorthanded the floodgates opened - Keith Lazar finished a shorthanded 2 on 1 with Kimber Auerbach to make it a 2 goal game. Then moments later Bob Steins Slap shot from the point was stopped but Rob Del Muro Jr. was there to put home the rebound for his fourth of the season with 2:23 left - it was a 6-5 game. Stein would take a penalty again - but with 1:11 left Frank Izzy scored his first career Bruiser goal to tie the game at 6. And with 11 seconds left off of a faceoff win by Auerbach, Jimmy Ketterrer scored off his own rebound with just 7 seconds left, that was the game winner. With the 7-6 win the Bruisers stand alone atop the standings midway through the season. Sunday night is the rematch of last seasons Championship game - against Mayhem at 10:30 at Bethpage Arena

Kenney had 4 goals and 4 assists, linemates Jimmy Ketterrer had 3 goals and 3 assists and Rob Del Muro Jr. added a goal and an assist, Defenseman Tommy Lai had the other Bruiser goal. Jimmy Ketterrer added a goal and 2 assists, Rob Del Muro Jr. also added a goal and a helper, Keith Lazar and Kevin Searing each added a goal and an assist from the Blueline. Tommy Lai added 2 assists in his Bruiser debut. Nelson who missed game 3 of the Championship series in the Spring season provided a spark playing with Mahoney and Matt Brousseau. Vinny Budano made 22 saves on 25 shots for the win in net. The next game is against Morkmen - in a rematch of the Fall season championship, which the Bruisers won in three games on Sunday night at 10:30 at Bethpage.
No 4-Peat for Bruisers
July 3, 2009
Everything that could go wrong for the Bruisers in the Championship game, did go wrong. It all started with Keith Nelson boarding a plane at 6am to go to Florida and it was all down hill from there. Leading scorer Sean Kenney spent most of the game in the penalty box and then was kicked out by the "Fat-Fuck" ref. Jimmy Ketterrer's skate broke which took him out of his game. Rob Del Muro Jr. Scored the only 2 goals of the game for the Bruisers, as Mayhem ousted them with an 11-2 win.
Comeback of the Year
July 1, 2009
The favor was returned. Last week Mayhem came back in stunning fashion to beat the Bruisers - and today - the Bruisers returned the favor - down 4-0 in the third period - Jimmy Ketterrer rose to the occassion - scoring 4 times and assisting on a Sean Kenney goal leading the Bruisers to a 6-5 thrilling win. Ketterrer scored the game winner shorthanded with just 34 seconds left after tying the game on the power play with 2:17 remaining. Rob Del Muro Jr. had the other goal in the third period. Vinny Budano stopped 28 shots for the win in net. The win sets up an all or nothing game Wednesday night for the Title. The game is at 7:45 at Newbridge

June 26, 2009
The Bruisers had a 7-4 lead with under 3 minutes to play in their first playoff game against Mayhem but lost the lead and then the game in overtime - with the defeat the 3 time defending Champions are facing elimination. They must win their game with PLT to get a chance to redeem themselves in the finals vs. Mayhem. Jimmy Ketterrer had 3 goals, Sean Kenney had 2 goal and 3 assissts, Rob Del muro had a 1g, and 1a and Joe Cangro had a goal in the defeat
Bruisers Win Division
The Bruisers won their second straight game and won the D2 Division title with a 6-2 win over the sharks. Jimmy Ketterrer had 3 goals and an assist, Sean Kenney had 2 goals and 2 assists leading the charge in a penalty filled game. Brandon Salz was offered a contract by the WWE after planting a DDT on a Shark player after the player laid out Anthony "queer" McEniry. Salz who only had 2 penalty minutes this season coming into the game put himself into the Goon standings with 26 penalties in the game. Officer Mike Vecchi and McEniry also got 14 mins. of penalties in the ensuing brawl. Rob Del Muro Jr. scored the other Bruiser goal after Vecchi took a slap shot at his stomach at the end of the first period.
Shorthanded Bruisers beat Top C level team
With key players unable to attend a Sunday early evening game, The Bruisers found a way to stop their 3 game losing streak defeating the top team in the 30+C division by an 8-3 score. Vinny Budano stood on his head making 22 saves, Sean Kenney, Jimmy Ketterrer, and Rob Del Muro Jr. all had 2 goals, the Keiths(Nelson and Lazar) each chipped in a goal. The win clinches at least second place in the division, and puts the Bruisers only 1 point out of first place with a game in hand.
Bruisers Lose Third Straight
After two straight overtime losses the Bruisers finally dropped a game in regulation. Four quick Mayhem first period goals put the 3 time Defending Champs in a big hole. A few bad bounces and defensive breakdowns led to a few breakaways and odd man rushes against. As a result of the loss the Bruisers have fallen out of first place for the first time since last August in the Summer season. Since winning the summer title the Bruisers had never spent a day out of first place in the 9 months since August. They are now tied with PLT for 2nd place in the division. After falling behind 4-1 the Team came back and played their game, Sean kenney lit the lamp to get it to a 4-2 deficet. Joe Cangro who opened the scoring scored 2 straight goals to complete the hat trick and get the Bruisers within one goal down 5-4 in the third. Midway through the third Rob Del Muro Jr. Thought he tied the game when he poked a rebound past the goalie but the Referee waved the goal off saying the whistle was blown. The controversial call cost the team the tying goal, even the Mayhem goalie said they "got lucky". After that the Mayhem added a few goals to put the game out of reach winning the game 7-5. With about two weeks before the next game, its time for the Bruisers to dig deep, long gone is the 6-0 start that they opened the season with, now the only streak that matters is the three straight losses.
Another OT Loss
May 8, 2009
For the second straight game the Bruisers lost a game in overtime - this time a 5-4 defeat at the hands of PLT. This was a game that will more be remembered by the dumb penalties called than the actual play on the ice. "The Referees must have thought they get a bonus for each 10 minutes misconduct penalty they gave out" said assistant Bruiser captain Anthony McEniry. For some reason unknown to many, Sean Kenney AND Kevin Searing both got 14 minute penalties in the opening minute for either talking to a PLT player or breathing on one, our investigation continues. Playing without their star(Kenney), the Bruisers went down 2-0 early but fought back. Keith Nelson finished a pretty passing play started by Bob Stein at his own blue line, finding Rob Del Muro Jr. across the ice at PLT's Blueline - he gave it to Nelson for his fourth goal of the season to make it 2-1. In the opening minute of the 2nd period Keith Lazar carried the puck down the ice and gave it to Brandon Salz who gave a backhand pass to Sam Tim Grossmann who beat the goalie low to tie the game. Down 3-2 Jimmy Ketterrer tied the game after a spin-o-rama and then in the final minutes, he tied the game at 4 sending it to overtime converting a Salz pass with under 5 minutes to go in the game. But Jimmy was in the penalty box when PLT won the game just 22 seconds into OT. Contrary to popular belief Ketterrer has yet to be suspended for the next game against the Mayhem on Thursday. Our records show it was the first game since last summer seasons playoffs that Sean Kenney did not score a goal. In that summer playoff game Ketterrer scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win in the semifinals.
Bruisers Fall in OT
We all know the story, there are many excuses/reasons for the collapse against the Outlaws. I'll leave it to you to choose your reason/excuse. We can blame poor officiating, Many calls could have been made against the Hogs, and the fifth goal by the Hogs was clearly an offsides. You can blame Rob Del Muro Jr.(Me) for taking the penalty at the end of the game for arguing the offsides play that directly led to a goal, That's fine with me I'll gladly accept the responsibility for putting us a man short. We can also blame the scoreboard/scorekeeper. There was no way that the third period was only 15 minutes, nor can you ever convince me that he had the correct time in the final minutes. Also when there is a close game in the final minutes and overtime they need to let you know how much time is left during play, every minute hit the buzzer real quick. Or blame the team as a team for blowing a 6-3 third period lead and letting all these factors get in their head and get off our game. Either way there were positives to come out of this game. We played a very VERY, good team, the ice Hogs were undefeated and giving up less than 2 goals a game. We had this game in the bag and scored six goals on a great defensive team. Sean Kenney led the way with 2 goals and an assist, and linemate Jimmy Ketterrer had three assists. Keith Nelson scored on the power play as did Tim Grossmann. Joe Cangro and Kevin Searing rounded out the scoring. Not lost in the game was the performance of Vinny Budano who each game gets better and better. Some of his saves were highlight worthy. I think we played very very well against a good team for the first 95% of the game - but we still got a point in the standings and this team will not be a team we have to worry about in the playoffs. Once again i apologize for taking my penalty late in the game.
Budano Steps Up
April 28, 2009
Vinny Budano kept a high powered Outlaws offense at bay in the opening period and the rest of the team responded in maybe the most impressive Bruiser win so far this year. With their 7-4 win over the Outlaws, a team that combined some players from SFC with some new additions, the Bruisers are 6-0 at the midway point of the Spring season. The game had a little bit of everything, great goaltending, scoring, physical play, and a lot of power plays. Bob Stein started out the scoring with his first career Bruiser goal. Less than a minute later Jimmy Ketterer lit the lamp to make it 2-1 Bruisers. Sam Tim Grossmann went coast to coast to make it a 3-1 Bruiser lead heading to the break. In the second it was more of the same from the BruisersSean Kenney scored the first of his two goals on the night in the opening minutes on the power play, just a minute later Kevin Searing's shot on the point was redirected in by Rob Del Muro Jr. on the man advantage for a 5-1 Bruiser lead. Ketterrer added a goal late in the period also on the power play. In all the Bruisers scored 4 power play goals. Vinny Budano made "50" saves on "54" shots. Keith Goon Nelson had 8 Penalty minutes to go with an assist. Keith Lazar had 2 more assists to give him 8 points in 4 games so far this season. The Bruisers next play the Ice Hogs, an undefeated team from the 30+D league team with only 11 goals against in 6 games
April 23, 2009
Coming into the Spring season the Bruisers knew that moving up to a higher division was going to have its challenges. In D2 there were two teams that the Bruisers were going to have to beat to get to the top of the mountain. After beating PLT on Monday the Bruisers turned their attention to Mayhem - the team to beat in Division two. And the Bruisers answered the challenge. Vinny Budano played his best game in net to date and a balanced offensive attack tired out Mayhem in a 10-6 Bruiser win. Although Sean Kenney and Jimmy Ketterer once again put up big numbers in the game, Kenney with 3 goals 2 assists and Ketterrer with 2 goals 3 assists, once again it was the role players stepping up to help provide offense. One game after Anthony Anzalone scored a goal Dan Mahoney kept pace scoring his first of the season to give the Bruisers a 1-0 lead. Mike Vecchi made it 2-1 Bruisers with his first goal of the season. Matt Brousseau who is used to lighting the lamp on his Storm team but is asked to play defensive hockey for the Bruisers also scored a goal. Rob Del Muro Jr. and Keith Nelson rounded out the scoring, both players had a goal and 2 assists. The Bruisers are 5-0 now heading into interleague matchups next weeks against the Outlaws and Ice Hogs.
Bruisers finally beat PLT
April 21, 2009
In a battle of two teams vying for first place in the HLI D2 Division the Bruisers put a 4 game losing streak against PLT to rest with a convincing 8-3 win. The Bruisers dominated the team in every facet of the game outshooting them 37-17. Sean Kenney had 4 goals and an assist and Jimmy Ketterer had 2 goals 2 assists, their linemate Anthony Anzalone had a goal and assist. Keith Nelson had the other Bruisers goal and Bob Stein officially became a Bruiser with a big takedown of one of the PLT guys. Up next for the three time defending Champs is Mayhem, possibly the other team that they and PLT will have to deal with for the title. Mayhem comes into the game with a 2-0-1 record and is the defending D2 division champs although they didnt turn that finish into a title - they were the runner ups
BRUISERS MOVE TO 3-0
April 10, 2009
Playing their 3rd game in a week the Bruisers made it a perfect 3 for 3 by beating the Sharks 9-6 and improving their record to 3-0 in their defense of three straight HLI Championships. Sean Kenney, as usual led the way scoring 4 goals. Sam Tim Holla at Ya Boy Grossmann had 2 goals, Brendan Salz, Keith Lazar and Matt Brousseau rounded out the scoring. Salz had 3 assists, Lazar also added 2 assists. Dan Mahoney extended his point scoring streak to 3 games with his fourth assist of the season.
Bruisers win on Goons 21st B-day
April 7, 2009
With their assistant captain suspended on his 21st birthday the Bruisers won a close game for Goon 7-6 over Red Rum to improve their record to 2-0. Hockey Long Islands three time defending champs took a 3-0 lead on goals in the first period by Jimmy Ketterer, Rob Del Muro Jr. and Sam Tim Grossmann. But the Rums responded scoring 4 straight goals. But just 10 seconds after the Rums took a 4-3 lead, Brandon Salz gave the team a boost tying the game up with a wrist shot from the right circle. "Salzie definitely picked up his game tonight, not only scoring that big tying goal but he could have easily had 3 or 4 other goals" said Bruiser forward Rob Del Muro after the game. That goal gave the team the lift they needed, Jimmy Ketterer would go on to give the team a 5-4 lead less than three minutes later. Rob Del Muro scored the final two Bruiser goals to complete the hat trick. Mike Vecchi had three assists, Bob Stein had his first two career Bruiser points assisting on two of Del Muros goals. Dan Mahoney had his third assist in the teams first two games. Matt Brousseau in addition of having an assist also blocked numerous shots in front of goalie Vinny Budano who made 25 saves for the win.
Kenney, Ketterrer Dominate
April 3, 2009
The only other time the Bruisers and Red Rum met - Sean Kenney and Jimmy Ketterrer each had 4 points in a Bruiser win. Last night was no different. Sean Kenney had 5 goals and 1 assist, Superstar had 3 goals and 2 assists and the Bruisers went on to a 10-5 win in the opening game of the Spring season. Joe Cangro and Brandon Salz scored the other two goals. Dan Mahoney contributed 2 assists in the win. Vinny Budano made 32 saves in net for the 3 time defending champs.
Spring Preview - The Quest for the 4-Peat
March 31, 2009
Just 9 days after winning their third straight Long Island Cup, the Bruisers return to the ice on their quest for a four-peat. This seasons team is shaping up to be the best, most talented team that they have taken on the ice. Starting in net Vinny Budano starts his first full season as the full time net-minder. An already solid defense gets even stronger with the move of Matt Brousseau back to D to partner with Keith Lazar. As always, the Defense is led by captain Joe Cangro and assistant Captain Mike Vecchi. Kevin Searing coming off a very solid rookie campaign that saw him contribute 14 points and Anthony "Goon" Queer McEniry round out the defenisve corps. The addition of Rob Stein and the return to full time action by Jimmy Ketterer at forward adds to an already potent group. The Bruiser offense is as balanced as any time in recent memory. Check this stat out - the top three scorers on the fall team all played on Separate lines. That makes it almost impossible for teams to put a top defensive pair out to stop a top line. Fall MVP Sean Kenney will lead the top line of himself, Jimmy Ketterer, and Anthony Anzalone. Last season Kenney set a Bruiser record for goals(36), assists(29), and points(65) including playoffs. Superstar Jimmy ketterer had 22 points in only 7 games, good for 6th on the team in scoring in less than half the teams games. Anzalone looks to build off a great playoff recording 2 goals and an assist in the post-season. The "Bomber" line of Rob Del Muro Jr. Keith Nelson and Bob Stein is a collection of three forwards that played on the same line together on their old Island Ice Hockey league team the Bombers. Nelson looks to shrug off an arm injury, in Last weeks championship game - the left wing was able to score two goals despite severe pain, On the other wing Del Muro will look to build on a season where he set a career high in goals with 26 and points with 37. Maybe no two Bruisers have the chemistry that Brandon Salz and Sam Tim Grossmann have - Salz was second on the team in assists with 21 including some gorgeous set ups to Ocho Cuatro. Tim tied for second with 26 goals in only his second season with the team, and also put up an impressive 40 points, also second to Kenney, rounding out their line is Dan Mahoney. Although the team has moved up a division(a division they won last summer), this roster looks like one who can win on any given night whether it be with defense, stellar goaltending or a high powered offense.
March 25, 2009
The Bruisers have once again won the HLI championship beating the pesky Morkmen 8-6. It is their third Championship in the past 9 months. HOCKEY LI PLAYOFF MVP Sean Kenney got back in time from the Brittney Spears concert to score three times, Keith Nelson added two of his own playing with an upper body injury. Rob Del Muro Jr. Tim Grossmann and Jimmy Ketterrer added Bruiser goals. Goalie Vinny Budano stopped 14 of 20 shots to win his first championship in net.
Do or Die Tonight!
March 24, 2009
It was a back and forth game all night and uncharacteristically the Bruisers lost a tie game in the third period. Tim Grossmann deflected a Mike Vecchi slap shot to give the Bruisers an early lead 3 minutes later the Morkmen would tie it but 58 seconds later Sam Tim struck again to make it a 2-1 game. But the Morkmen came back quickly once again making the score 2-2 after 1. 7 Seconds into the second period the Morkmen took a 3-2 lead on after receiving a bad bounce off the faceoff. But once again the Bruisers would respond - Rob Del Muro Jr. took the rebound of the Jimmy Ketterrer shot and put it in the back of the net to tie it at three. Later in the period the two hooked up again- Ketterrer to Del Muro for his second of the game and 5th of the playoffs for a 4-3 lead. But just 21 seconds later the Morkmen once again tied the game at 4. Brandon Salz's shorthanded goal gave the Bruisers a 5-4 lead going into the 3rd. But it ended there the Morkmen scored 3 third period goals forcing a decisive game tonight at Iceland. The Bruisers took 10 penalties in the game, and Brandon Salz was stopped on a shorthanded penalty shot with 11:16 left in the third period. The Morkmens winning goal came just a minute later on the continued power play.

Lookin' To 3-Peat
March 13, 2009
In what was one of the best team efforts that the Bruisers have had all season - Hockey LI's 2 time defending champions punched their ticket to the championship with a 11-4 win over the Morkmen. Every single Bruiser contributed to the win one way or another. Keith Nelson assisted on three Rob Del Muro First period goals to get the team started and the team never looked back. Brendan Salz not once but twice went behind the back finding Sam Tim Grossmann who was able to finish. Sean Kenney also scored 2 times and had three assists. Jimmy Ketterrer returned to the lineup with three assists. Kevin Searing and Keith Lazar also graced the scoresheet. Goon Pitched in with some nice blocked shots. Matt Brousseau was dynamite in the faceoff circle - one win leading directly to a Nelson goal. In net Vinny Budano made the big saves when he had to. And oh yeah some kid Anthony Anzalone must have eaten his Wheaties and taken his HGH before the game because he potted two goals. Hmmm Anzalone and HGH - make sure not too take too much of it - i hear it makes you grow excessive body hair. Of course if the Bruisers win the championship - Party at Del Muro's!
February 27, 2009
If the Bruisers want to win their third straight HLI championship they better look at the downfall of the 2008 New York Giants. The similarities are striking. Both teams started 11-1 while defending a championship - and both lost 3 of the last 4 to finish 12-4 with the top seed and a first round bye. The Giants ended their season with a disappointing playoff loss to the Eagles - hopefully thats where the similarities end. For the second straight game the Bruisers allowed FIVE third period goals and lost 7-6. After the loss all the questions and controversies began heading into the playoffs(once again see NYG, Plaxico Burress). The Starting goalie position has come into question among other issues that need to be resolved before the playoffs start if they are tow in another title. There is good news - the Bruisers did score 6 goals again including 4 goals in the third period and were able to come back from 6-4 down in the final 4 minutes to get it to a 6-6 tie. Sean Kenney had 4 points, Brandon Salz had 2 goals, Rob Del Muro, Keith Nelson and Matt Brousseau also scored for the Bruisers, Keith Lazar contributed 2 more assists. All eyes are looking forward to the playoffs - as the Bruisers go for a three-pete.
Bruisers Lose Again
February 13, 2009
The Bruisers put forth a disappointing start to the game and were unable to claw their way back in their 10-8 loss to SFC. Minutes into the 2nd period the deficet was 5-1 but the line of Brandon Salz, Tim Grossmann and Rob Del Muro scored 3 goals in 1 minute and 8 seconds. But Sfc answered just 19 seconds later. They got within 1 goal 3 times but never were able to get the tying score. On a positive note - Del Muro and Sean Kenney each had hat tricks and Grossmann had 2 goals and 2 assists. Those three accounted for all 8 goals and are the stars of the game.
February 1, 2009
The Bruisers 11 game winning streak ended with a 6-3 loss to PLT this Thursday night. Sean Kenney and Keith Nelson provided the offense. The three stars of the game were
3. Joe Cangro
2. Sean Kenney
1. Keith Nelson
Lazar Leads Way
January 27, 2009
The biggest upside about the Bruisers is that they dont rely on just one person or line to give them a lift. On any given night any number of Bruisers can be the catalyst to a win - That was never more evident than against the Morkmen on Sunday. Keith Lazar led the way with a career night with 2 goals and 2 assists, and a returning Matt Brousseau scored and assisted on another in the Bruisers 8-2 win. Scotty Berge stopped 23 shots improving the teams record to 11-1. The goal scoring and goaltending was only half the story. The other half was the physical nature of the game. Anthony Goon McEniry stepped up in defense of teamates Vinny Budano and Dan Mahoney earning 24 penalty minutes. Other goals were scored by Sean Kenney (2), Vinny Budano, Rob Del Muro Jr and Tim Grossmann. The three stars of the 11th straight win were
3. Goon - the ultimate teamate showed his value
2. Matt Brousseau - goal, assist in return
1. Keith Lazar - 2 goals, 2 assists and 2 hits
January 23, 2009
The Bruisers downed the Second place Vipers Thursday night for their 10th straight win. Sean Kenney scored 3 unassisted goals, Brandon Salz opened the scoring with a gritty goal and Sam Tim Grossmann scored two late third period goals to put the game away. Scotty Berge improved to 9-0 this season making 15 saves on 18 shots. Anthony McEniry lived up to the name goon with 12 penalty minutes - on the same play - but he is more of a goon on Xbox where no one can physically respond to him The three stars of the game were
3. Scotty Berge - No One can downplay 9 straight wins
2. Brandon Salz - 1 goal 2 assists
1. Who else????? you guess
Make it 9
January 15, 2009
The Bruisers made it 9 straight wins with a gutty win over Red Rum from a league above them. After giving up 2 goals in the final 36 seconds of the 2nd period that put the Bruisers in a 5-4 hole - the 2 time defending LI Champs won the third period 3-0 for a 7-5 win. Jimmy Ketterrer had 2 goals and 3 assists - Sean Kenney had a hat trick and an assist - Brandon Salz scored on a nice defelction and Tim Grossman was awarded with a goal in the final seconds.
The three stars of the game are:
3. Mike Vecchi - assist, strongest game since the first Bruiser season
2. Sean Kenney - 3 goals 1 assist
1. Jimmy Ketterrer - 2 goals 3 assists
January 8, 2009
Even 3 weeks off wasn't enough to slow down the 2 time defending HLI champions Bruisers. Vinny Budano and Joe Cangro scored less than 2 minutes into the game to set the tone and the Bruisers cruised from there. After losing the season opener to SFC the Bruisers have won 8 straight games to take the lead in the division. With 11 total goals the Bruisers have scored 27 goals in the last two games. The scoring was spread out evenly between all 3 lines - Vinny, Sam Tim, Sean, and Rob all had 2 goals. Keith Nelson, Brendan Salz and Joe Cangro all had a goal. Picking 3 stars our of this game is almost impossible but here's a try
3. Kevin Searing - assist, solid in D-Zone
2. Vinny Budano - Set the early tone with goal
1. Brendan Salz - simply for his pre game statement - "I stopped giving blow jobs on game day"
December 15, 2008
The Bruisers scored twice the goals saturday night then the Giants scored points Sunday vs. the Giants. Not so good for the hapless G-men but good for the Bruisers. After giving up a gial 8 seconds into the game - the Bruisers dominated in a fun game to watch, play in, and be a part of - unless you are a goalie. Three Bruisers scored a hat trick - 11 players had multiple points in the game. Dan Mahoney scored - Goon had 2 points yes thats no misprint - and good times were had by all. The three stars of the game were;
3. Keith Nelson 2 goals 2 assists
2. Dan Mahoney - 1 goal and 1 assist
1. Anthony Goon McEniry - first multiple point game in career - caused havoc in front of the net.
Unsung Hero - Kevin Searing - 2 assists solid defensive play
December 12, 2008
How else would the Bruisers win a game? Once again the two time defending Champs used a late goal in the third period to fend off another team. The win was their third straight 1 goal win. The team has shown that they can win different styles of games - in the previous seasons they blew teams away by 6-8 goals but have the tougness to win close games too. Sean Kenney netted a hat trick including the game winner with 5:36 to play. Other goal scorers were Rob Del Muro Jr. Brendan Salz and Sam Tim Grossmann. Mike Vecchi and Joe Cangro each had 2 assists while anchoring solid defensive play on the blue line. John O'Brien made up for a defensive lapse that led to the Rats tying the game by making a nice move on the blueline before setting up Kenney's game winner. Scotty Berge made 21 saves for the win. Special thanks goes out to Matt Brousseau for taping the game. The Coveted yet always controversial 3 stars of the game were:
3. The Pairing of Cangro/Vecchi on the Blue line - 4 combined points, blocked many shots to preserve the win
2. Brendan Salz - goal and assist
1. Sean Kenney - Hat trick, GWG
Unsung Hero of the game - John O'Brien - showed poise in setting up gwg and mental strength after defensive miscue
Bruisers Come Back to Win
December 2, 2008
The Vipers once again got off to a 4-1 lead just 2 minutes into the 2nd period. But the Bruisers didnt panic - and were able to pull out an exciting 5-4 overtime win. After a Rob Del Muro Jr. goal opened the scoring - the returning defenseman Matt rubin was able to score a goal down 4-1 to get the rally going then - Down by 2 with under 5 and a half minutes to play Sam Tim Grossman found Sean Kenney for a goal to make the game 4-3. Then with 1:12 left in regulation Keith Nelson and Sean Kenney set up Grossman for the game tying goal. The game would go to overtime and with just 1:16 left Brendan Salz spurned a 2 on 1 by hitting Vinny Budano with a breakout pass - budano then found Del Muro Jr. who spun and backhanded a shot by the Vipers goalie for the win. The Bruisers are now 5-1 and share first place with SFC - the next game is against the Rats a team in the 30+ division. The three stars of the game were
3. Matt Rubin - Goal, Assist in comeback
2. Keith Nelson - 2 Assists - set up game tying goal late in third
1. Rob Del Muro Jr - 2 goals including game winner in OT
Bruisers Back in First Place
November 22, 2008
No Scotty Berge - no problem - Vinny Budano shrugged off 3 first period goals and shut out SFC for the final two for his first win in goal this season. Budano saved 20 of 23 shots including the final 16. Sean Kenney and Jimmy ketterrer were the whole Bruisers offense in their 6-3 win. The win puts the Bruisers at 4-1 and tied with SFC for the top spot in the division. Next up for the Bruisers - Razensons VIpers - the three stars of the game were:
3. Sean Kenney - 2 goals, 1 assist

BRUISERS WIN TIGHT GAME
November 14, 2008
******AFTER READING PLEASE VIEW GUESTBOOK FOR THE NEW MOVIE POSTER FEATURING DAN MAHONEY*********
The Bruisers had Razensons Vipers right where they wanted them - In a tight game in the final minutes - and like they normally do they found a way to win. Tied at two in the final 6 minutes the 2 time defending champions got goals from Sam Tim Grossmann and Sean Kenney to pull out a 4-2 win improving to 3 and 1 on the season. The game came with many ups and downs - The team got off to a 2-0 lead on goals by Vinny Budano and Matt Brousseau - although the celebration in Brousseaus goal led to a dislocated shoulder keeping him out of work and off the bruisers active roster for 4-6 weeks. "I saw that i had a good shot on net and i saw Mahoney almost maybe open, instead of passing i shot and it waent in - i guess if i passed it to him i wouldnt have gotten attacked" said Brousseau after getting released from a local hospital. The three stars of the game were
3. Matt Brousseau - Goal, has done a steller job centering a line with Mahoney and Anzalone
2. Scotty Berge - Gave up only 2 goals on 22 shots - won third straight game
1. Sean Kenney - 1 goal 3 assists - had a hand in every goal
November 5, 2008

Leading the way was Sam Tim Grossmann who had 4 goals and 4 assists in his break out Bruiser game. It was a total team effort - we will break down the game on Bruiser Nation this Thursday night at 11PM - tune in for player interviews and call in segments. The three stars of the game were
3. Sean Kenney 2 goals 3 assists

Bruisers Battle Back For Win
October 30, 2008
In a wild second game of the Fall 08 season the Bruisers who have established themselves as a third period team might have had their finest comeback ever. Down by 2 goals with less than 4 minutes left and after losing 3 players to a game misconduct the 2 time defending champs rose to the occasion to win 5-4. Keith Nelson started the comeback with a Power play goal - he won the faceoff to him self then roofed the shot to bring the Bruisers to with in 1 with 3:53 to play. Then Tim Grossmans hard work led to Sean Kenney from the corner finding a streaking Rob Del Muro Jr. who one timed the pass into the net - with 1:03 left we were tied at 4. Then with just 30 seconds left Matt Brousseau lifted the puck out of the defensive zone and Sam Tim beat the aggressive goalie to the puck and put the puck into the empty net for the game winner. BRUISERS ARE CHAMPS...AGAIN
September 15, 2008
They didn't even think they would have a chance to defend their Spring Season championship. Then Applebees happened. On the eve of the beginning of the Summer season Scotty Berge, Rob Del Muro Jr Anthony Anzalone and Keith Nelson had a meeting and decided at the last second to play and move up to a higher division even though some key members would not be able to play. Well after going 4-4 in the regular season the Bruisers ran the table as the last seed and won the D division championship tonight by beating the Swordfish in a tight game. The first period was scoreless. In the second Del Muro Jr. gave the Bruisers a 1-0 lead taking a pass from Jimmy Ketterer on the power play and put it home. After the Swordfish answered with 2 straight goals ketterrer put the puck in the net to set up a tied game going into the third. Less than 2 minutes left - Bruisers on the powerplay - the puck behind the net where Del Muro picked it up and banked the puck off the goalies leg into the net with just 1:33 left in regulation. Sean Kenney added the empty netter to clinch the second straight HLI championship for the team. Goalie John Jew made 18 saves on 20 shots for his 3rd straight playoff win. "I didnt even think we were going to play but to move up a division and win the title says so much about our talent" said Del Muro, "We made some key changes like putting Cangro on Defense that made us as good as possible and anytime you have a guy Like Sean Kenney on the team we have a chance to win, and I cant say enough about the goaltending we got"
The Three stars of the championship game were:
3. John Jew Goalie 18 saves
2. Jimmy Ketterrer 1 goal 1 assist
1. Rob Del Muro Jr. 2 goals including GWG w/ 1:33 left
