2010 Herd Registration News
Registration for the Thundering Herd 2010 Spring/Summer season is now open. Please note there have been some player eligibility changes beginning to take place in minor football, during the last several months. Firstly, the names of the team divisions have changed slightly. Secondly, the player age brackets have changed. Following an extensive study, Football Canada are attempting to harmonize the eligibility standards across the country. Within Ontario, the OFA are requesting all member leagues, teams, and organizations to also begin adapting during a 2010-2011 transition period. Therefore, to begin this transition, the Herd SCOFL team entries will include the already league-approved 2010 divisions and ages as follows: SCOFL Bantam (formerly called Peewee) and born in 1996/1997, plus SCOFL Junior Varsity for players born in 1994/1995. As usual, some younger Herd teams participate in the separate FNL House League featuring Peewee (formerly called Atom) teams for players born in 1998/1999/2000, to be eligible for the 2010 FNL season.
On-line Registration!!! The Thundering Herd are pleased to announce that all registrations will now be done on-line! This is much easier for all involved, so let's get started!!! Please review the new eligibilty information above to assist with accurate registration completion. This new on-line process takes about 5 minutes to register, that's it!

HERD Atom White Wins League Championship!
In a closely contested game last Sunday, the HERD Atom White team won the FNL League Championship prevailing over the previously undefeated Titans Navy team, who well-represented their home City of Oakville. Congrats to all members of both teams who deservingly received individual medallions during the post game ceremonies. As the triumphant playoff winners, the HERD White Atoms were proud to also receive, the FNL Championship trophy in the presence of the several hundred spectators who viewed both an exciting game and the season-ending presentations. For further details, check out the media coverage of the game in the Mississauga News.
PW HERD Finish Season Strong
The PW HERD played a hard-fought game this past Saturday in Clarington, but eventually lost in this sudden death Semi-Final playoff. The HERD Offense was electric with many BIG plays from several players, and a great effort by the entire O-LINE! The HERD Defence was stellar too, in delivering some phenomenal hits and shutting down the large running attack from the Tiger Cats for most of the game! With their superior kicking and excellent field coverage...the HERD Special Teams also played a key role. However, in the end, the Tiger Cats prevailed in this closely-contested playoff and therefore earned themselves the right to advance to the overall SCOFL Championship game. The HERD is quite happy with the considerable progress in the development of the 2009 PW contingent. Everyone should be proud of their accomplishments and enthusiastically looking forward to next year's challenges. Well done guys, great season by all! A vote of thanks to all the family members who came out to support the HERD Peewees, and to all the coaches who made this a very enjoyable season!
Pinball Clemons at Herd Event!!!
The Thundering Herd Jamborees have become so popular with Ontario football enthusiasts, that even the always super-busy, Mike "Pinball" Clemons decided to stop by the annual Jamboree this Spring to see what this huge football activity was all about. The Pinner took precious time out from his heavily-scheduled day to speak to the many Herd guests, including players, parents, coaches, and fans, at this fantastic event. The Pinball said in part, "Keep up the great work! The Thundering Herd is an excellent place to learn football and have fun!" Hopefully, we will soon see Pinball again at another Herd activity, Thanks Pinball!!!

4th Annual Thundering Herd Invitational Jamboree A Great Success!
The 4th edition of the Thundering Herd's annual jamboree was a great day of football, hotdogs, and rain! For the first time ever, we had some poor weather, but that made all the scrimmages that much more interesting. Some of the pass-first teams had to adjust, and some run-oriented teams had a chance to practice hanging onto the slippery pigskin! All in all, we had a great time with teams from several communities participating, and a chance to have fun on the field. A very special thank you to all the attending teams, coaches, parents, and sponsors, who braved the weather elements, and some extra thanks to our hard-working volunteers who helped to make the day a success! See you all again next year!!!
Pro Elite '09 Rivalry Bowl Results
It has come and gone for this year! The Herd traveled to Pickering this past weekend to take on the mighty Dolphins. The Rivalry Bowl was a battle again this year, as it always is, but all the players had great fun. The PW Herd took some time getting going, but got better every play. Unfortunately the Dolphin peewees were better this time around, but the PW Herd will get them next time! In the JV matchup, The Herd put on a good show with a strong D and some good special team work. The Dolphins ran the ball well, but the JV Herd overpowered the 'Phins this time! Good job all players!!!
Thanks to Pro Elite Football Camp for sponsoring this great event.

Thundering Herd Players Recognized by OFA
Every year the Thundering Herd participates in the Ontario Football Alliance Honours Program.
The Honours Program recognizes players who have both strong academics and athletics, and who are evaluated by their coaches to be submitted for consideration. Every year the Thundering Herd have several winners of these awards, and have actually had years where our players were 100% of the players recogonized in the province. Yet again in 2008, the Herd have 100% of the players who were submitted and acknowledged. Way to go guys, keep up the great work! Parents-remember to submit your child's report card for a chance to win this recognition for the 2009 season!
THIS COULD BE YOU IN 2009!!! RUN WITH THE HERD!!!
