Charter
The Tinker Air Force Base(TAFB) “Rangers” located in Oklahoma City is a men's amateur varsity baseball team that is comprised of military members and dependents of the Air Force, Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, and DOD Contractors. Individual players range in rank from enlisted to officers and encompasses several different military career fields. Our breadth of military and baseball experience is large. The uniqueness of the Rangers is that we have a variety of experienced players who have played at all levels of baseball from high school to Division I college baseball.
Our Purpose:
Morale can be bolstered by offering natural competitors the opportunity to compete in the sport they love. The team will represent TAFB in the Oklahoma City National Adult Baseball Association (NABA) league and throughout the country in tournaments. Through our competitions and community envolvement, the image of the U.S. Military can be gleamed. The team will act as ambassadors by giving a professional view of the armed forces and portray the commitment to excellence on and off the field.
Along with other Air Force Base varsity baseball teams (Andrews AFB, Davis Monthan AFB, Elmendorf AFB, Lackland AFB, Luke AFB, Mountain Home AFB, Nellis AFB, Hill AFB, Hickam AFB AFB, Vance AFB) our goal is to make baseball an official Varsity Sport for the Air Force. Furthermore, participation in the team allows better players to train for an official Air Force Varsity program and ultimately develop a semi-pro team just as the Navy.
Mission:
The TAFB Varsity baseball team is designed to further the image of our service through its play and conduct throughout the country. By participating in the highest levels of competition, we will demonstrate the commitment to excellence and further the illustration through a professional attitude while producing a high caliber of ball player second to none.
In Summary:
I am taking over the duties as head from Capt Brandon Dong, and certainly hope that I have covered all pertinent information that you need. The Rangers hope that you are as excited as we are about the upcoming season and look forward to seeing you at the game.
Please contact the team if you are interested in team sponsorship. Our team receives limited funding from the military, so most fees come out of pocket of team players. We are willing to work for funds, but hope to have enough sponsorship in the future to cover all league and umpire fees.
I sincerely thank you for your time and interest in the TAFB Ranger baseball team. Should you have any questions or suggestions, I would like to hear from you. You can contact me through e-mail at fraynel.mercado-martinez@tinker.af.mil, george.wiggins@tinker.af.mil or by phone at Work 405-734-3195, 405-734-6335.
