- Travel Baseball for 2010 Season - In the Spring of 2010, TRC will be offering three levels of baseball for 11 and 12 year olds - rec (in-house) baseball, rec/travel baseball (players play in both in-house and travel) and full time travel baseball (travel only). Each of these options are designed for different levels of player commitment and baseball abilities:
- 12U Tigers Full Time Travel Baseball
- First try out will be held Sunday September 13th from 9:30 am - 11:30 abm at the Stoneleigh Lower Field. Additional tryouts will occur during September and October on Sunday mornings.
- Players are eligible to try out for the team if they have not reached their 13th birthday prior to May 1, 2010.
- Interested players should contact email Mike Reid.
- The season runs from mid-April and ends in late June. There will be 25 regular season games plus the MABA league tournament in late June. Tournament play is anticipated to include the Ripken Memorial Day Tournament in Aberdeen and Cooperstown in the summer.
- We will play one game on Thursday evening and a double header on Sundays. Our home field will be the Stoneleigh Lower Field.
- Regular season practices will be held one to two times per week.
- Full-time travel baseball entails a high level of competition and is for players who have the abilities and demonstrate the commitment to enhance their baseball skills. For the 2010 season, the Tigers will be playing in the Mid-Atlantic Baseball Association (MABA) League in the full time travel division.
- Players making the team will also be expected to participate in indoor winter workouts occurring January through early March. We anticipate 2-3 workouts per month. Winter workouts will focus on physical conditioning specific to baseball, as well as individual skill development and team fundamentals. We will do our best to schedule work outs so as not to conflict with the winter sports schedule.
- Our approach to coaching baseball at this level is to balance player development with winning games. Our coaching group emphasizes the teaching of sound baseball fundamentals in an atmosphere that is both challenging and fun. We expect players making the team will commit to consistently attending games, tournaments, winter workouts and regular season practices.
- TRC 12U Tiger Coaches - Steve Dixon, Chip Sebastian, Tom Merashoff, Matt Byars and Michael Reid.
- 11U Full Time Travel Baseball:
- The coaches will have 4 workout/tryout sessions this fall to evaluate players:
- Sundays - September 20, October 4, October 18 and October 25.
- At Stoneleigh School Lower Field.
- Workout time is 11:30am to 1:30pm.
- Players should come to as many workouts as possible.
- Information:
- The team will consist of 11 players
- Age cutoff – no member of the team can turn 12 prior to May 1st, 2010. We are playing 11 year olds and under as of May 1st, 2010.
- League play – Mid-Atlantic Baseball Association (MABA) – www.leaguelineup.com/maba
- Regular Season Practice – at least 2x per week from March through June (fall and winter workouts are expected)
