2010 SEASON The Texas Raiders regretfully announce they will not be having teams for the upcoming 2010 Spring football season. The future is undetermined at this time for any following years, but we would like to thank all of you that have supported us over the past 7 years.
It has been a blast and we wish GOOD LUCK to every former Texas Raider out there!!! Hopefully, one day, we will see you playing in the NFL!
RAIDERS WIN !!!! Championship day started off with the traditional pre-game picture by both teams and the individual awards being presentd to some well-deserving kids. And then, the game was on!!! Everyone expected a great game as both meetings between these two teams this season had been nail-biters. The Raiders started quickly and hit the Panthers with a 51-yard TD run by Josh Sims on their first possession of the game. The Raiders followed that TD with a surprise onside kick and recovered the ball and took it down for another score. This time, it was a 21-yard TD run by the league's MVP, Jerek Capdeville.
The Panthers finally got on track in the 2nd quarter and had a great drive, but was stuffed by the Raiders defense on a 4th & goal from the 1-yard line just before halftime and the Raiders took a 12-0 lead into the half.
Both teams turned up the defensive intensity in the 2nd half and even though the Panthers figured out how to stop the Raiders, they could not figure out how to get their own offense going against the Raiders defensive unit which proved to be the best in the league by posting their 6th shutout in 10 games this season. The final score for the Raiders came as a result of the defense as Hayden Rose picked off a pass and took it to the 3 yard line before Capdeville came in and punched it into the endzone for the final score of 19-0 and yet another Texas Raiders championship. This is the 3rd in a row for the Sophomore Texas Raiders.
Congratulations to the Sophomores for bringing home another title to the Texas Raiders organization for a total of 9!!!
SOPHOMORES IN TITLE GAME The Sophomores continued their roll through the season and the playoffs by posting another shutout and defetaing the LH Wildcats 20-0. The Raiders defense looked good as ever and the offense is putting up enough points each week to beat anyone. The Raiders will face the Plano Panthers in what looks to be a great Championship game this Saturday at Parish Episcopal School at 4pm. The two teams have met twice with the Raiders narrowly winning both games, but this time the title is up for grabs. Good luck to the Sophomores as they try to bring home the Raiders 9th title in 7 years!
STREAK ENDS AT 41 YES, believe it or not, it is over! The incredible run the Jr Texas Raiders have been on for the last 4 years has ended at 41 wins in a row. The Allen Wild Dawgz ended the streak by defeating the Raiders in the semi-finals last Saturday night in front of a big crowd by a score of 38-27. On a night where nothing seemed to go right for the Raiders, the Dawgz played an incredible game and would not be denied. They moved the ball at will on the Raiders defense which had proved immovable up to then during the season. In a year where the Raiders defense had given up only 1 touchdown all year, the Dawgz put up 5 TD's. The time off seemed to effect the Raiders as they had not played a game for 18 days due to forfeits and they could just not put together enough big plays to make the comeback.
Thanks to EVERYONE who has ever been a part of the Raiders for the last 7 years. It was a great run for these boys and I wish them the very best as they head into high school and many more years of success in the game of football!!!
RAIDERS READY FOR SEMI-FINALS With the events of the weekend, the Raiders Sophomore team now knows its opponent, the LH Wildcats. They will play this Saturday at 4pm at Parish Episcopal School.
The Juniors opponent has also been determined and is the Allen Wild Dawgz. The Dawgz beat the NT Falcons 26-16 and are a much improved team since the last time the two teams met. The Raiders play the Dawgz this Saturday at 8pm.
Sophs Finish Off Regular Season The Sophomore Raiders followed up the Junior team's undefeated regular season with one of their own. They got past a feisty LH Wildcats team, 20-12, and completed their regular season with a record of 8-0. They will enter the playoffs as the #1 seed and will get a bye in the quarterfinals. They will face the worst seed to advance from the quarters and will play on May 9th at 4:00pm.
Check out all of the week 8 scores and the playoffs brackets. All are posted.
JUNIORS CLOSE OUT REGULAR SEASON The Juniors made up their cancelled game with the Texas Longhorns from week 6 and finished out the regular season in good order. The 43-6 victory came at the Lognhorns home field and saw the Raiders go down to Red Oak and take care of business. Again, the Raiders showed the depth of talent they have as 5 different players scored TD's and Brett Rattan also made a field goal to finish off the scoring for the undefeated Junior team. The win coupled with the forfeit the Raiders will receive this Saturday due to the Bears dropping out of the TSFL pushes the streak to 41 and will see the Junior team move into the playoffs as the #1 seed. They will receive a bye into the semi-finals and will face the winner of the Allen Wild Dawgz / North Texas Falcons quarterfinal game. The Raiders semi-final game is scheduled for May 9th at 8:00pm.
Congratulations to another great regular season, but we're not finished yet!!! See you in the playoffs!

STAYING UNDEFEATED Although neither team was as sharp as they wanted to be in their week 7 games, both Sophomore and Junior Raiders remained undefeated. Both teams faced the NT Falcons and the Sophs won 32-12 where the Juniors posted another shutout by winning 35-0.
The Juniors will make up their game from week 6 that was postponed due to lightning on Tuesday, April 21 in Red Oak at 7:30pm and will receive a forfeit victory next Saturday against the Texas Bears who have dropped out of the TSFL.
The Sophs will face the LH Wildcats on Saturday.
Both teams will go into the playoffs as the #1 seed in their respective divisions.
SOPHS WIN, JRS DONT The Sophomore team proved again to be the best in their division as they took on the 2nd place Plano Panthers and defeated them 12-6. The Panthers had their chances at the Raiders end zone, but turnovers proved costly as the Raiders secondary came up with two big interceptions at the 1 yard line and a fumble recovery at the 5 yard line to thwart three different Panther drives.
The Juniors did not win, but did not lose either against the Texas Longhorns. Their game was postponed due to the inclement weather that moved in at exactly 7:30pm just as the game was about to begin. The game will be made up at a date yet to be announced.
Check under "Results" for all game scores from week 6 and at the bottom of the page for the Week 7 schedule.
RAIDERS ON TOP!!! Upon the completion of week 5 games in the TSFL, both Raiders teams are alone on top of their respective divisions standings!!!
The Sophomores kept the train rolling and walked through the first-year, out-manned Garland Trojans with another shutout, 39-0. There were many outstanding plays made, but the tone of the game was set on the opening kickoff with the star of the game, Akilian Butler, taking it to the house for the first of many Raiders touchdowns and the first of his 2 TD's.
The Juniors had their toughest game this year when they faced off with the GA Giants in the last game of the day. The feature matchup saw 2 very good teams battle each other for the entire game. The Raiders used their punting game to help gain an advantage in field position for most of the game. With both teams struggling early, the Raiders put the first score on the board with a KK Hambrick run through the heart of the Gaints defense and the PAT by Brett Rattan put the Raiders up 7-0 and saw them take that lead into halftime. The game continued back and forth until the Raiders finally put another score up on the Giants with a Dru Smith run and the PAT again by Rattan to make the final score, 14-0. The Juniors now move to the top of the standings alone at 5-0 and extend their TSFL streak to 38 straight games.
Thanks to all of you who came out to support the Raiders and especially the Sophomore staff who came out to support the older team!!! Your attendance is appreciated and great for the kids and the atmosphere of the game.
Be sure to be there in week 6 as the Sophomores have their biggest game so far in a rematch of week 1's game vs. the Plano Panthers. The Raiders squeaked out a 7-0 win in their first matchup with the Panthers and this should be a GREAT game.
12:30pm Sophomores vs Plano Panthers 7:30pm Juniors vs Texas Longhorns
HALFWAY THERE!!! Both Raiders teams continued their winning ways and have now posted 4-0 records. The halfway point of the regular season finds both the Sophomore and Junior teams undefeated and at the top of the standings. The Sophomores sit atop their division all alone after a 19-0 victory against the Allen Wild Dawgz, their 3rd shutout in 4 games. The Sophomores team had another running back have a breakout game this week as Donavan Williams saw the end zone a couple of times in their win. They will face the Garland Trojans next Saturday at 10:45am.
The Juniors continued "the streak" at 37 by beating the previously undefeated Lake Highlands Wildcats, 34-6. The Raiders started quick out of the gates again and jumped out to a 27-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter before cruising to the win. Again, the usual suspects for the Raiders defense did the damage and totally shut down the Wildcats with their only score coming on a fumble return for a TD. The Juniors will now face the only other undefeated team in the division with the marquee matchup this Saturday night at 7:30pm at Parish Episcopal School. If you are a current Raiders fan or have ever been a part of the Raiders, this is the game to attend. Come out and support the boys as they take on the g.a. giants in what could be a preview of the Championship to come in May!!!
Check out all of the league scores under the "Results" section on this website.
Raiders Stay Undefeated thru 3 Weeks Both Raiders teams rolled through their games on Saturday to remain undefeated at 3-0. The Sophs took care of the Wildcats 33-6 giving up their only score on a kickoff return. They are looking better each week and brought out their POWER game and controlled the game from the beginning.
The Juniors had little problem with the Dawgz after capitalizing on turnovers early and jumped out to a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. They continued to show their multiple weapons as many got involved in the scoring throughout the game and finished with the 42-0 shutout.
NEXT GAMES: 9:00am - Sophs vs Allen Wild Dawgz 5:45pm - Jrs vs LH Wildcats
RAIDERS ROLL in WEEK 2!!! The Texas Raiders continue their winning ways in week 2. The Sophomores are starting to gel and made easy work of the North Texas Falcons in a 35-0 victory, their 2nd shutout in as many weeks. The Junior Texas Raiders, who continue to show mutiple weapons, ran past the Colts 35-0 in their first game of the season that counts towards the playoffs and extended the winning streak for this team to 35. Both teams are overall 2-0 in the TSFL this year and look to continue their winning ways in week 3.
Week 3 Games Soph vs LH Wildcats at 10:45am Jr vs Allen Wild Dawgz at 4:00pm
Check out the "Schedule" section for a listing of all TSFL games.
RAIDERS START 2009 with WINS!!! SOPHOMORES Texas Raiders 7, Plano Panthers 0
The Sophomore team opened the season against a very tough Plano Panthers team and it showed as both teams struggled to get on the board with both teams displaying ferocious defenses. The battle was tied at 0-0 at halftime and both teams came out pumped up in the 2nd half ready to show who was the best. The Raiders finally got on the board with a TD pass from Hayden Rose to Tyrick Bennett and the PAT made it 7-0. The war was finally won by the Raiders when their defense stepped up to stop a late Panther drive with an interception in the end zone by Josh Sims.
JUNIORS Texas Raiders 28, Galveston County Heat 6
The matchup that everyone was waiting to see happened in the 2nd game of the day featuring the TSFL/HSFL squads. The Heat, having easily beaten the Raiders twice in the younger division last year, now stepped up to see what they could do against the Raiders machine that has won 33 games in a row in the Junior division. The Heat seemed to have plenty of size and more speed than the Raiders and took the opening drive of the game down the field with the help of a long run by fullback Andre Ross for an early lead, 6-0. The Raiders, missing their top 2 running backs, then proceeded to show their depth and unleashed what they had more of, HEART. Their deadly combination of running with Terrell Williams and passing of Dru Smith to constantly move the ball down the field. The Raiders came right back and made the score 7-6 with the added PAT by Brett Rattan. The Raiders made some adjustments at halftime to shut down all facets of the Heat's offense and cruised to a 28-6 victory thus continuing their TSFL-record winning streak at 34 and ending the hopes of the Heat.

TEXAS RAIDERS - JUNIOR CHAMPIONS As a great announcer says on TV, OHHH MYYY!
That is the only way to describe the Jr Championship game between the GP Warriors and the Texas Raiders. The Raiders came into this game with back-to-back Championships and the owners of a 31 game winning streak lasting over 3 season, but the Warriors came in with a powerful and determined team intent on stopping the streak.
The Warriors controlled much of the game with a power offense and a stingy defense. They scored on their first possession on a long run right through the heart of the Raiders defense by Lee Ware and kept the 6-0 lead entering the 4th quarter of play. The Raiders finally showed some life in the 4th quarter and scored the tying TD, but fake the kick to go for 2 and the PAT failed to leave the score tied.
With 11 seconds remaining, the Warriors threw up a long pass from Blake Murray to Russell Hansbrough who came up with the catch inside the 5 yard line with 5 seconds left. The Warriors, pondering the final play, considered attempting a field goal, but decided to try and stay with their smash-mouth game that had put them in the position to win. The sweep came up 2 yards short and the game headed to overtime.
The Warriors had the first possession and scored to take a 12-6 lead, but again the 2 point conversion failed. The Raiders took the ball to determine their fate and converted a 4th and long to keep the drive alive. However, a dead-ball penalty pushed them back again and that is when the Raiders went to their traditional goal-line offense and worked the ball down to the 1 yard line for a 3rd and goal. From there, the Raiders ran the QB sneak with Dru Smith and tied the game, 12-12. That is when the Raiders turned to their little-used weapon, Brett Rattan, their kicker. Rattan came on the field and nailed the extra point, splitting the uprights and vaulting the Raiders to a thrilling 13-12 victory and their 3rd straight TSFL Championship. The win was also the 32nd straight for the team continuing the longest ever streak in the TSFL by any one team.
Both the Warriors and Raiders should be congratulated for a GREAT, EXCITING game as neither team deserved to lose this game. Thanks to both teams for a wonderful season and may all of you go on to have wonderful high school careers. I am sure we will be seeing some of these kids in the sports section of the papers over the next few years.
THANKS TO JAMES LATIMER FOR ALL YOUR HELP IN PROVIDING THE PICTURES. GREAT JOB!!!
TEXAS RAIDERS - SOPHOMORE CHAMPIONS Congratulations to the Texas Raiders Sophomores as they completed their undefeated TSFL season with a 33-7 win over the Allen Wild Dawgz in the Championship game. The Raiders controlled the ball early using all but 30 seconds of the first quarter in their opening drive and scored a TD to make it 6-0. The Wild Dawgz came right back with a score and the extra point making it 7-6 and taking the lead over the Raiders. The Raiders then proceeded to control the rest of the game and ended the season with an 8-0 TSFL record and their 2nd straight Sophomore title. Congratulations to all of the young men participating in this game for a wonderful season.
