TITANS U11s Win Shamrock Cup in Savannah
June 2, 2011
PHOTO: BACK LtoR:Arstan Rosencrants, James Tuley, Austin Stamper, Damien Robbins, Michael Shimp, Liam McDonald, Coach Jim Robbins FRONT LtoR: Serik Rosencrants, Ian Bryan, Johnny McDonald (Keeper), Ethan Boos, Savannah Thompson The Troup Titans U11 team, with two guest players, traveled to Savannah, GA for the OutBack Shamrock Cup. The Tournament had 112 Teams competing and our U11s had a 5 Team Division. Saturday the 28th, the Titans played RYSA Sporting at 10:30am for a 7 – 1 Win. They then played Roswell Santos at 1:00pm for a 6 – 4 Win. The heat, intensity and level of competition made for some great soccer. On Sunday the 29th our Titans were ranked number 1 due to performance and points and had their 1st match at 1:00pm against the Home Club SCFC Celtic Green. Titans won 5 – 2. The Championship Match was slated for 3:30pm and with about 60 minutes of rest faced Roswell Santos in the Finals Match. Titans dominated the whole Match and won the Championship with a 7 – 3 Win. Four matches in two days, great competition, and a tremendous contribution by all 11 players made the 500 plus mile trip well-worth it. We want to thank our two Guest Players, Ethan Boos and Damien Robbins, both from the ConCorde Fire South Club for contributing greatly to an outstanding delivery by the U11s. Well-Done Titans.

Titans U11 and U12 Matches in Griffin, GA, April 30, 2011
May 1, 2011
TITANS U11S vs Macon United Red U11, 2011, 12:00pm – Lost 3to 5 The loss does not reflect the improved level of play our U11s exhibited today. Two weeks ago against Upson County the 11s utilized great passes, feeds, and wall-work. This week there were many more wall-passes, extreme efforts by every player and just, overall, a tremendous improvement in Team play. That is what we strive for at Academy Level and the U11s delivered today. At half-time the score was Macon 2, Titans 0. Coach Brandon explained our mistakes and the U11s increased their level of play the second half to deliver a 3 to 3 second half. Each of the 14 players did their job today, but I must single out one player for stepping up her game, to an extent never seen. Savannah Thompson had two great finishes, with very nicely done assists from Liam and Ian. She capitalized on them for goals that required strength, overpowering, and finesse to both finishes. That is what the Striker does. Thank you Titans U11s for excellent Soccer. TITANS U11s - Good, Fair, and Hard Play next week in the President’s Cup. Never Give Up, Never Surrender. (I stole that, heard it in a Campy movie once, but it’s true!) SCORING RECAP: Savannah Thompson – 2 Goals, James Tuley – 1 Goal on P.K. TITANS U12 vs Macon United U12s, 3:00pm – Won 3 to 1 The 12s were on fire today. They started their 3:00pm Match with excellent passing, wall passes, multiple over-laps, playing back, and dominated on-side possession the first half. Macon United delivered formidable opponents. They are well trained, disciplined, and know their Soccer. Their execution of plays as a team and as individuals were excellent. Our guys just outplayed them. The names go on and on, Reed Slay and Cameron Spinks and Marat Rosencrants and Matt Hale and Matt Thomas and Mason Kang and James Tuley and Collin Sargeant and Will Allen (at Keeper – Go Will, well-done) and Ian Bryan acted as One Team. They were on-base today and delivered the best passing, defense, and the most intelligent play exhibited this season. These guys are strong and getting stronger. Watch them! Reed Slay won the Game Ball Award for an excellent performance and effort, voted for by his team mates. Well-Done and Well-Deserved Reed Slay. SCORING RECAP: Marat Rosencrants – 1 Goal, Ian Bryan (assisted by Matthew Thomas who powered a volley return from within our box to basically the other team’s box for a header goal ) – 2 Goals TITANS U12 vs Macon United U12s, 4:30pm – Won 2 to 1 The U12s didn’t lose a step between their 1st Match and their Second. They literally had 20 minutes between Matches and hit the field with great attacks and spirit. With two new players, Austin Stamper and Liam McDonald, they continued their excellent play. Control of the ball, passing with-in the Diamond, wall work, multiple player work-arounds, playing back, and Great Team Soccer was the game. Will Allen, you are the man as Keeper. Well-Done. Macon United brought their known-intensity and it was matched with determination and better Team Soccer by the Titans. Ian Bryan won the Game Ball Award for an excellent performance and effort, voted for by his team mates. Well-Done and Well-Deserved Ian Bryan. SCORING RECAP: Matthew Thomas – 1 Goal, Ian Bryan - 1 Goal

Dutch League Futsal Series - A Great Success
February 6, 2011
Dutch League Champions Above - Left to Right:
Matthew Thomas # 3 -- Ian Bryan # 1 -- Matthew Hale # 2
The Players who participated in the Dutch League Futsal Series, In-Door, season had an incredible run. They were able to develop and enhance ball handling skills, trapping & passing techniques, the necessity to constantly move to create opportunities, and overall team work. (Please note; the Futsal ball is designed to be less inflated and requires more effort to strike it as it is used In-Doors on a hard surface. No Keeper is allowed and no Coaching is allowed. As Coach Jim Robbins said earlier, “This is a player’s game.) Dutch League play for this Series consisted of 7 to 8 matches of eight minutes each night of play. All players for the two teams were selected randomly so that no team, during a given Match, was the same. The winning team received points for the Win, plus each point scored. The losing team received their points scored for that Match. Each player carried his points won though the night for a nightly winner and through the entire series to end with a cumulative score for the 5 night series. The top 3 scorers for the Series were: #1 – Ian Bryan = 159 pts. #2 – Matthew Hale = 111 pts. #3 – Matthew Thomas = 101pts. Highest score for any of the 5 nights goes to Liam McDonald = 41 pts.

U17 Titans Finally Tournament Champions at Redstar Challenge
December 18, 2007

It's been a long time coming, but the '91 Titans picked-up their first gold tournament medal after numerous runner-up and near-miss finishes over the past several years. The U17s finish as very unlikely given the circumstances of missing players and their amazing come-back in their third round-robin match, which vaulted them to the final where the "curse" was lifted. The tournament finish was bittersweet for Coach Mark McCloud, who may have coached his final game for the Troup Titans Soccer Club. For the complete story, click here.

Luebbers becomes first Titans' player to coach a club team

Troup Titans' Soccer Club Director of Coaching Mark McCloud has long encouraged players to consider coaching or assistant coaching some of the younger-age level squads. A few players have run clinics for teams over the past couple of seasons, but no season-long stint until now. Eric Luebbers, an inaugural member of the Titans' charter team, and the '90 boys' sqauad, served the past fall season as an assistant coach for the Titans' U14 classic team. McCloud wanted to keep Luebbers involved with the club during the year since the player has a serious knee injury (ACL) during the high school season last spring. A terrific opportunity became available with Coach Joe Monley's team. "This year I have enjoyed coaching more than I ever thought I would. Sometimes it's tough coming up with a layout for practice that works on what they need and lets them have fun. But, just working with the kids is fun, you get to the point were they are more than just your players, they become your friends," says Luebbers, who thinks now that coaching is something he will be donig for the rest of his life. "It's just really cool to watch them grow, not just as soccer players but as people, and to try to help them out with anything they need," Luebbers added.
