    2009 CHAMPIONSHIPS
    SOPHOMORE CHAMPIONSHIP
    TEXAS RAIDERS 19
    PLANO PANTHERS 0

Championship day started off with the traditional pre-game picture by both teams and the individual awards being presentd to some well-deserving kids. And then, the game was on!!! Everyone expected a great game as both meetings between these two teams this season had been nail-biters. The Raiders started quickly and hit the Panthers with a 51-yard TD run by Josh Sims on their first possession of the game. The Raiders followed that TD with a surprise onside kick and recovered the ball and took it down for another score. This time, it was a 21-yard TD run by the league's MVP, Jerek Capdeville.

The Panthers finally got on track in the 2nd quarter and had a great drive, but was stuffed by the Raiders defense on a 4th & goal from the 1-yard line just before halftime and the Raiders took a 12-0 lead into the half.

Both teams turned up the defensive intensity in the 2nd half and even though the Panthers figured out how to stop the Raiders, they could not figure out how to get their own offense going against the Raiders defensive unit which proved to be the best in the league by posting their 6th shutout in 10 games this season. The final score for the Raiders came as a result of the defense as Hayden Rose picked off a pass and took it to the 3 yard line before Capdeville came in and punched it into the endzone for the final score of 19-0 and yet another Texas Raiders championship. This is the 3rd in a row for the Sophomore Texas Raiders.

Congratulations to both teams for a wonderful season in the TSFL!!!

    JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
    G.A. GIANTS 20
    ALLEN WILD DAWGZ 12

Championship day for the Juniors began the same with the traditional pre-game picture by both teams and the individual awards being presentd to some great kids. Having played a close game in their only meeting this season, the hopes were high for another great Championship game in the Junior division as has been the case the previous 2 years. The G.A. Giants got the scoring started with their power offense and a 51-yard TD run by Corey Hunt. The Giants then followed that up with another long run setting up the QB sneak by Trevor Walker and the PAT conversion made it 14-0.

The Dawgz finally got on track in the 2nd quarter. With their passing game kicking into gear, the Dawgz got back into the game with a Peterson catch for a 27-yard TD. The failed PAT left the score at 14-6 as the teams reached halftime.

The Dawgz came out moving the ball in the 2nd half, but kept shooting themselves in the foot with untimely botched snaps and turned the ball over twice as the moved towards the Giants endzone. However, they finally put it all together on a 4th quarter drive and scored again on a 17-yard pass to Davis Roechke to pull within 2 points at 14-12, but another PAT was stopped and the Giants held onto a narrow lead.

The Giants offense wound it up again and drove down the field on the Dawgz defense and Deonta Landry scored their final TD to get the lead back to points at 20-12. With time winding down in the game, the Allen Wild Dawgz launched one more attack to try and send the game into overtime. The Dawgz again resorted to their passing game and got into Giants territory despite heavy pressure on the Dawgz QB, Cullon Greene. With the Dawgz facing a 4th and long, Greene put up a hail mary pass down the middle of the field and the Giants' Ty Smalley interception sealed the win and the Junior State Championship for the G.A Giants.

    FINALS ARE SET
The Sophomore semi-finals saw the 2 best teams in the league continue their winning ways. The Plano Panthers moved past a determined Allen Wild Dawgz team by scoring late in the game and claiming the 30-24 victory. The Raiders shut out the Wildcats, 20-0, to move into the finals against the Panthers. This should be a great matchup as the two previous games between the Panthers and Raiders have been very close games.

And, in the Juniors division, YES, believe it or not, it is over! The incredible run the Jr Texas Raiders have been on for the last 4 years has ended at 41 wins in a row. The Allen Wild Dawgz ended the streak by defeating the Raiders in the semi-finals last Saturday night in front of a big crowd by a score of 38-27. The Dawgz continued to show they keep getting better every week and will now face the G.A. Giants in the Championship game this Saturday. The Giants ended the Colts season in the TSFL with a 36-14 victory in the other semi-final. The Giants narrowly defeated the Dawgz, 20-12, in their regular season matchup in week 7.

    MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
For the first time ever, the TSFL played football on a day reserved mainly for the pros in the fall. The Junior division was rained out this past Saturday and had to complete their schedule on Monday night at Parish Episcopal School. The Falcons and Wild Dawgz resumed their game where they had left off on Saturday and the NT Falcons came out flying and scored a safety on the first play of the night and then followed that up with a TD. After a few minutes, though, the Allen Wild Dawgz settled down and got back on track to pull out the victory over the Falcons, 26-16. The Dawgz move on to face the Texas Raiders in one semi-final at 8pm Saturday.

The other game of the night was a classic. Having played the previous week in a defensive struggle, the Wildcats and Colts came out with much different game plans. In a slugfest that was a great game to watch, the lead was going back and forth like an arena football game. It all came down to the 4th quarter and a wild ending with the Colts driving the final 35 yards in the last minute of the game to score and win a hard fought battle, 36-28. The Colts will now play the G.A. Giants in the other semi-final at 6pm Saturday.

Congrats to all of the teams as they once again displayed the highest level of select football is still in the TSFL.

    SOPHOMORE BLOWOUTS, JUNIOR RAINOUTS
The early part of the day saw 2 big wins in the Sophomore division as the seeds held true. The #3 seed Allen Wild Dawgz advanced to play the Plano Panthers next week in one semi-final by beating the Garland Trojans 44-0. The #4 seed LH Wildcats beat the NT Falcons, 32-0 and will face the Texas Raiders in the other semi-final game.

The Junior teams were not as fortunate with finishing their games as the severe storms that moved through the Metroplex washed away any chances of the games getting completed by day's end. The Allen Wild Dawgz were leading 20-6 in the 2nd quarter over the NT Falcons when the game was suspended for a 2nd time due to lightning and will be completed MONDAY, May 4th at 7pm. The final game of the day between the Carrollton Colts and the LH Wildcats will be played as well on Monday, May 4th immediately following the Dawgz/Falcons game.

Thanks to everyone for your help and cooperation to get these games completed ASAP so we can continue on with the semi-finals next weekend.

The voting will be done before the playoffs by the head coaches in the Junior Division and winners will be announced prior to the Junior Championship game on May 16th.

Congratulations and good luck to all of you!!!

    SOPHOMORE NOMINEES
Sophomore Nominees The TSFL would like to recognize all nominees for the individual awards given by the league at the end of the year. The awards are based on the regular season achievements by these players and nominations were submitted by their team coaches. The voting will be done before the playoffs by the head coaches in the Sophomore Division and winners will be announced prior to the Sophomore Championship game on May 16th.

Congratulations and good luck to all of you!!!

    Regular Season Ends
The 2009 TSFL regular season came to an end with some good games determining the final seedings for the playoffs. In the Sophomore division, the Texas Raiders moved past the LH Wildcats, 20-12 and take the top seed into the playoffs. The Wildcats will have to settle for the #4 seed. The Allen Wild Dawgz are looking like a team on a roll and steam into the playoffs as the #3 seed beating the Garland Trojans, 44-0.

In the Junior division, all playoff seeds were decided except for the #4 vs #5 matchup. The Allen Wild Dawgz played the North Texas Falcons with the winner getting the #4 seed. The Dawgz prevailed by a score of 40-20 and will take that momentum into the post season against these same Falcons who get the #5 seed. Another interesting matchup was a highly defensive battle between the LH Wildcats and the Carrollton Colts who will also meet in the first round of the playoffs. With the score at 2-2 going into the 4th quarter, the Wildcats scored twice to pull away for a 14-2 victory. See "Game Results" for a complete listing of all of the week 8 action.

Click on Playoff brackets to see all of the playoff pairings.

    Week 7
One week left in the regular season and things are taking shape for this season's playoffs. The Wild Dawgz turned the tables on the Wildcats from their previous meeting and even the season series at 1-1 and brought both teams season records to 4-3. Next weeks results will determine the final seedings for these 2 teams as all other seeds have been finalized in the Sophomore division.

The Junior division seeds have all but been settled with the Giants barely beating out the Wild Dawgz, 20-12 and wrapping up the 2nd seed. In a strange occurrence, it could very well play out that every matchup scheduled for week 8 would end up being the exact same matchups in the first round of the playoffs.

Check out all of the results from week 7 and click on the brackets to see playoff matchups.

    Week 6
The day started out with a bang as the Sophomore division saw two very good games. The Allen Wild Dawgz got out to a lead and then had to hang on as the NT Falcons came storming back in the 2nd half. The Falcons final TD pulled them within 1 point, but the PAT was denied and the Dawgz claimed the 20-19 vicotry. Later in the day, the Plano Panthers got a rematch with the team that had given them their only defeat of the season, the Texas Raiders. This was very similar to the first game as the defenses shined early and created multiple turnovers in the game on both sides of the ball. The Raiders offense got going in the 2nd half and held on late for a 12-6 victory to remain on top of the Sophomore standings as the only undefeated team in the division.

The Junior division started out with the battle of 2nd place teams, but was not what some thought it would be as the GA Giants easily put away the LH Wildcats team to stake their claim for 2nd place. They will face the Wild Dawgz next week in another battle for 2nd place as the Dawgz won their game against the Colts this week. The final game of the day was postponed as bad weather moved into the area and forced the teams to leave the field right before the game started. The game will be made up at a date yet to be announced.

See all of the scores for week 6 listed under "Results".

    Week 5
The race for playoff seedings has begun and it looks like some of the positions for playoffs might come down to the last weekend of the season and even the very last game of the regular season.

With yet another wacky weather day taking place this past Saturday, we saw more good football throughout the day. Watching the TSFL every week, one can see some great players and great plays in every game and the future for Metroplex high school football is bright. The Sophomore division saw no upsets as the 3 favorites won with only 1 game being close as the Plano Panthers edged out the Allen Wild Dawgz 23-13.

The Junior division was hit hard this week throughout the league by area track meets and all teams were short some of their key players. The surprising LH Wildcats bounced back this week from last weekend's loss and edged out the Wild Dawgz, 12-6 and the NT Falcons showed signs of coming alive with their victory over the Longhorns, 25-6, but the feature game of the day, and maybe the most awaited matchup of the year, took place on the last game of the day.

The GA Giants brought their undefeated squad on the field for their game against the also undefeated Texas Raiders, who were bringing in their TSFL record 37 game winning streak that spans over 4 years. The game was a well played game and as hard fought as people expected. The Raiders got on the board with a short KK Hambrick run for a 7-0 lead and held that lead through halftime with the Giants showing some offense of their own via the running of Deonta Landry. With both teams defenses battling to keep the opposing offenses at bay, the Raiders finally got another score as Dru Smith got into the end zone to provide the final score of the game and see the Raiders extend their streak to 38 and move into first place alone in the Jr division at 5-0. The Giants fall to 4-1 and face the Wildcats in their next game in a battle of teams tied for 2nd place.

Check out the "Results" section of the site to see your favorite team's scores and see next week's schedule at the bottom of the page.

    Week 4
With week 4 in the books, the regular season is now at its halfway point and the playoff picture is beginning to take shape. Another windy weekend mixed with some very cold weather early in the day caused a low fan turnout, but the people that did attend were very loud. The support that our TSFL teams get from their parents and other family members is great. It does wonders for your kids out there and whether they tell you or not, it is much appreciated!!

The Sophomore games in the early part of the day saw some great defensive action and some very low scores. The best action of the day came with the final Sophomore game and the NT Falcons having to hold off a late rally by the Garland Trojans and hang on for a 20-18 victory.

As the Juniors started playing, the weather slowly improved and so did the offenses. Again, the NT Falcons older team had the closest game of the day and beat the Colts in a tight 13-6 game. The other Junior division games were not as close, but there was still great action on the field. The LH Wildcats fell from the undefeated ranks to the Texas Raiders, 34-6, and the GA Giants won easily over the out-manned Bears 46-8, thus setting up the game people have been waiting to see for the entire season. The 2 remaining undefeated JR teams face off this Saturday night at 7:30pm at Parish Episcopal School.

Make sure to not miss a minute of the action and you can see all of the scores from the league by clicking on the "Results" section on this site.

    Week 3
Saturday's games continued what has been an excellent year in the TSFL. A full day of games saw some lopsided scores this week, but also saw a few really competitive games. In the Sophomore division, the Texas Raiders are the only undefeated team left as they beat the LH Wildcats in an early season battle for undisputed first place.

The Junior division is still a bit cluttered as 3 teams remain undefeated through 3 weeks of play and stand at 2-0 in divisional play. Two of those teams will face each other this coming Saturday as the LH Wildcats will play the Texas Raiders in what should be an exciting game. The GA Giants, remain undefeated and will face the Bears this week to be followed by the Raiders and then the Wildcats. So, there should be some "sorting out" over the next couple of weeks as we head towards the halfway point of the season.

If you have not yet been out to see the TSFL play this year, come on out and enjoy some great football in a great atmosphere. Check out the game results and standings for a complete listing of the day's events.

    WEEK 2 GAMES
After a few weeks of sunny, but windy days, we had the opposite for week 2. The sun made a brief appearance late in the afternoon, but for the most part we had a cloudy, cold day with little wind and it was actually warmer at the end of the night than it had been all day. The games for the week also heated up as the day progressed.

The Sophomore division started the day with 3 shutout victories as the Raiders beat the Falcons, 35-0, the Panthers ran past the Trojans, 42-0, and the Wildcats surprised the Wild Dawgz, 26-0.

The Junior division had the only close games of the day as the Falcons had a 9-0 lead before the GA Giants came storming back in the 4th quarter to take a 14-9 victory. The other close game had the Longhorns trying to make a late rally, but coming up short in the end and losing to the LH Wildcats 18-10. Other Junior games saw the Allen Wild Dawgz victorious over the Texas Bears, 28-12 and the Texas Raiders continued their TSFL streak by putting away a feisty Carrollton Colts team, 35-6.

Thanks for those who attended the games on a nasty day and for all those that make the TSFL possible.

    WEEK 1 A SUCCESS!!!
AND WE'RE OFF!!! What a great day it was to be in the TSFL, the oldest true select football league around, and big brother took care of little brother this weekend. The Houston Select Football League Varsity teams (8th grade) traveled up to play 4 of our Junior division teams (7/8th grade) and the TSFL came out victorious in ALL of them for a 4 game sweep of the HSFL. In an exact opposite of what happened last May in Waco at the TSS Championships with Houston taking all 3 games in the younger age group, the TSFL proved this year they are the more dominant league at this age group. The scores and summaries are below and can also be seen on the game results page.

North Texas Falcons 23, Northwest Knights 0
In the opening game of the day for the TSFL/HSFL matchups, Joe Bouchez brought his Falcons out to show what the TSFL was made of this year. The Falcons used a methodical approach to dominate the Knights and pull away to a victory on a very windy day that seem to affect all teams throughout the day. A final TD just before the end of the game saw the Falcons come out on top 23-0.

Texas Raiders 28, Galveston County Heat 6
The matchup that everyone was waiting to see happened in the 2nd game of the day featuring the TSFL/HSFL squads. The Heat, having easily beaten the Raiders twice in the younger division last year, now stepped up to see what they could do against the Raiders machine that has won 33 games in a row in the Junior division. The Heat seemed to have plenty of size and more speed than the Raiders and took the opening drive of the game down the field with the help of a long run by fullback Andre Ross for an early lead, 6-0. The Raiders, missing their top 2 running backs, then proceeded to show their depth and unleashed what they had more of, HEART. Their deadly combination of running with Terrell Williams and passing of Dru Smith to constantly move the ball down the field. The Raiders came right back and made the score 7-6 with the added PAT by Brett Rattan. The Raiders made some adjustments at halftime to shut down all facets of the Heat's offense and cruised to a 28-6 victory thus continuing their TSFL-record winning streak at 34 and ending the hopes of the Heat.

Allen Wild Dawgz 28, HSFL Texans 14
The Lonnie Ollie coached Dawgz wasted no time in continuing the trend of the day with their matchup against the Texans. They quickly showed their speed advantage with the play of Cullon Greene as they dismantled the out-manned Texans and pulled out to a 28-0 lead. The Texans did show some life in the 4th quarter and rallied for 14 points trying to make a game of it but fell short in the end, 28-14.

Lake Highlands Wildcats 6, Missouri City Longhorns 0
The finale of the TSFL/HSFL matchup was a great defensive battle. Both teams dominated play with their defenses throughout the game and a huge portion of the game was played between the 30's. The deciding score happened with just over a minute left in the game when Treyvon Marsh came in to the game at QB and threw a 40 yard TD in stride to Xavier Giles for the game winning points, 6-0, thus completing the TSFL's sweep of the HSFL.

As well as the great games above, the other results for week 1 were:

    Sophomores
    Lake Highlands Wildcats 27
    Garland Trojans 0

    Allen Wild Dawgz 13
    North Texas Falcons 12

    Texas Raiders 7
    Plano Panthers 0

    Juniors (Non-Division)
    GA Giants 24
    Texas Longhorns 0

    Carrollton Colts 18
    Texas Bears 6

Thanks to the Houston teams for coming up and participating in the games and thanks to all of the parents, families, friends, and especially all of the volunteers that help out in every way to make this the greatest football league around!!!

    JAMBOREE!!!
What a winderful day of football!!! The TSFL is underway and looks to be a VERY competitive league this year with all teams showing some great play on both sides of the ball!

With the exception of 30-40mph wind gusts all day, it was a good day for football! I think it affected the coaches and fans much more than it did the players on Saturday.

And, make sure to let the Parish Booster Club that is running the concession stand know how much you appreciate them for being there for us as they have included "real food" this year with grilled hot dogs, hamburgers and even Chick-Fil-A sandwiches.

Good luck this season and let's play football!!!

    On a Mission
The Texas Select Football League is a highly competitive and rapidly growing Spring SELECT football league that has no weight restrictions, thereby allowing a true football experience for the youth of today as they head toward the middle school and high school levels of football. Established in 2003, the TSFL is looking forward to the 2009 season. Select football has seen expansion into the southern regions of the state with the addition of the Houston Select Football League in 2008. The HSFL is heading towards its 2nd season. We hope this growth will allow for more competition and more success for the league and for Spring select football in the state of Texas.

Our current structure features 2 league: Juniors and Sophomores. The Junior division will consists of 7th & 8th graders that have a desire to sharpen their skills as they head towards high scool football. And, our Sophomore division will introduce 5th & 6th graders into the world of the TSFL and help develop their athletic abilities with hopes of bettering themselves for the middle school level of football.

The TSFL plays a level of football that is above ALL youth leagues. One of the many advantages we have over any other youth league is the elimination of weight restrictions on any player whether he/she be in the backfield or on the line.

We are constantly seeking teams that would be interested in starting up a SPRING football team and "join the fun" of the TSFL. Our league gets started this year in February with pre-season scrimmages followed by a 8-game season, playoffs, and ending with the Championship game in early May to allow for the completion of the season before the school year ends.

The TSFL represents a NEW venture into sports that has been needed for years. The opportunity for the young men that only play football or have determined football as their best sport to excel in more than just the 4 month fall period currently offered by most leagues. We have established what we feel is the next dynamic youth league, SPRING FOOTBALL. We are building what we feel is the premier select football league, not only in this area but throughout the state of Texas.

Our goal for the first 5 years was to expand throughout the state as we continued to grow in the Metroplex. Seeing this accomplished with the HSFL leads us towards our next goal of growing across the entire state and to develop an increasing knowledge of our league throughout Texas. Any teams throughout Texas that have an interest in getting on board with the best league in Texas should contact our league office.

Areas in the state represented by teams either currently or in the past in the TSFL are Mesquite, Dallas, Plano, Allen, Wichita Falls, Tyler, Red Oak, Grand Prairie, Richardson, Garland, Waxahachie, and McKinney. We also have received interest in the past from teams on the west side of the Metroplex like the HEB area and Ft Worth, but are still hoping for them to join us to make this a league covering both Dallas and Ft. Worth. The TSFL also encourages organizations to have drill teams and cheer squads as we strive to open up even more avenues for today's youth.

We are the BEST football league in Texas and will only get BETTER! Get on board now and "JOIN THE FUN"!
