**8th Grade All - Stars 2013**

Jackson Roderick (left/with Trophy) Kyle Corkum (right) @ the AYF Central Mass All - Star game in Florida where the boys earned the #3 spot.

TYFC is very proud of both of you!!

A few words from Jackson Roderick about his experience:

One thing that changed my life was going down to Florida and playing football in December. One year ago I tried out for the Central Mass all star football team and didn’t make it. This year I had the opportunity to try out for the same team again. After a 4 hour try out that was truly exhausting and had its ups and downs and many days of waiting, I found out that I had made the team. I was so excited. To know that last year I didn’t make the team and then this year make it was validation that I have grown as a football player. To know that I would be going to Florida and playing football was the greatest but at the same time I was nervous. Meeting all my new teammates took a little time but we gradually became one team. After a long month of three hour practices in the cold for three days a week it was time. Time to go down to Florida. Being on the plane with all my new friends was fun and I really enjoyed that. Our first game was going to be the game that we figured out what caliber team we were. It ended with us winning the game in overtime that showed that we belonged playing against anybody. At the end of the tournament we placed 3rd out of 12 teams throughout the country. We were so proud of ourselves. The practices paid off big time in the end. The worst part about the whole experience was that we had to leave each other. Since our flight home got cancelled half the team was going home one day and the other half the next day. Throughout the whole experience I truly believe that we became true friends and will never forget that trip. That trip really did change my life in a lot of ways.
