Why do you need to maximize your velocity???
Consider these facts:
* The average Division I right-handed pitcher throws 88-90MPH
* The average Division I left-handed pitcher throws 84-86MPH
* The average Division I outfielder throws 86-87MPH
* The average Division I infielder throws 85MPH
What does this tell you?
1. If you want to play NCAA baseball or higher you need to be AT LEAST AT OR ABOVE THESE VELOCITY LEVELS…Canadians have to be better than average to get consideration
2. If you want to keep doors from closing on you at any level of your baseball career, you need to learn how to MAXIMIZE your velocity, NO MATTER WHAT POSITION YOU PLAY!!!

Mastering the Strike Zone
In any game the pitcher and the catcher must know the
strike zone. Keep in mind there are four strike zones:
1. The pitcher's zone 2. The hitter's zone
3. The rulebook zone 4. The umpire's zone
A coach should have no sympathy for a pitcher who whines about the
strike zone. The only zone that matters is the umpire's zone. As long
as the umpire is consistent, a pitcher can use the umpire's zone to
his advantage. If a pitcher is consistently near the umpire's zone, he
will get calls on the borderline pitches. The pitcher's pitch should be
from the top of the kneecap to the bottom of the kneecap. If a pitcher
can live there, 99 percent of the umpires will call it a strike.

Ron Wolforth's Elite Pitcher's Boot Camp
. He is one of baseball’s most innovative pitching instructors.
. He has had 41 drafted athletes since 2001.
· His philosophy and system has generated 73 pitchers who have topped
90mph and 14 who have topped 95mph.
· He is referred to as the ‘pioneer of objective measurement for
pitchers’ and the ‘main architect in the national trend toward
developing athleticism and degrees of freedom into the pitching athlete’.
· He is routinely asked to consult by 3 ML baseball teams and college powerhouses Vanderbilt, Michigan, South Carolina, Washington - places who have used the system to develop Tim Lincecum and David Price among others.
· He has been a keynote speaker 3 times at the American Baseball Coaches Convention that 5000 coaches from all over the continent attend.
His name is Ron Wolforth and he will be in Eastern Canada once this Spring:
BLOW IT UP!!! 100 MPH Throw recorded at The Baseball Zone!
Mark James: RHP Age: 21 Ht: 5’11” Wt: 187lbs.
“How the Elite Pitchers Boot Camp changed my life!”
“I attended the Ron Wolforth Boot Camp in October 2008. It changed my perspective on training forever. Since this camp I started a strength training program with Sport Specific training Mississauga. During the
3 months I trained at SST my strength and flexibility increased dramatically in every area.”
“I then started pitching with Coach Ryan Armstrong. When I started my fastball was 87-89mph. In just a few short weeks I increased my velocity to 90-93mph consistently while topping out at 94MPH. The high point of
my training with Ryan was being able to hit 100mph on a turn and burn drill. All the training and hard work paid off when I threw bullpens for a few major league teams and was signed by Cincinnati. I highly recommend this camp to any pitcher who wants to take their game to the next level.”
Mark James has pitched exceptionally well in spring training and will be placed on a minor league roster in the Cincinnati organization.

"10 Pitching Questions that Coaches & Players REALLY want to know"
1. Can velocity really be improved or is the concept of velocity
enhancement just slick marketing and salesmanship or is it smoke
and mirrors ?
2. Isn't Pitching all about developing good mechanics ?
3. Arm Health... What are the keys to creating a healthy, durable arm ?
4. Command... How do we improve command on all our pitch types ?
5. Movement... How do we improve movement on all our pitch types ?
6. Weighted Balls... Are they a good idea or Scrooge of the earth ?
7. Long Toss... Good for Arm Health or Much to do about nothing ?
8. Bull Pen... How can we make ours world class ?
9. Running Long Distance or Poles... How are they for increasing
endurance and mental toughness ?
10.Weight Lifting... Good idea or contraindicated because they will
restrict flexibility ?
THE BERNSTEIN PRINCIPLE - Mechanical Inefficiencies Do Not occur or
exists in a vacuum... they need two things...
TIME & TENSION... reduce time & tension...
reduce inefficiencies.
THE BERNSTEIN PRINCIPLE OF MOTOR LEARNING - The body will organize
itself based on the ultimate
goal of that activity!
- Momentum is a good thing
- Slow vs. fast ( it's a false choice )
- Slow equals control
- We can't recruit or use what isn't awake
- Preparation comes before confidence & success

Pitcher's Arm Care
1. Wear sleeves below the elbow.
2. Do not warm up while wearing a jacket.
3. Between innings, wear a jacket.
4. When sleeping, wear a long sleeve over the pitching arm.
5. Do not apply ice unless: you have swelling or pain, or
you have thrown more than five innings.
6. Do not pick up a baseball at any time until: you have warmed
up joints, you have stretched the arm & you have warmed up
and stretched the total body.
7. Do not attempt to throw when another body part is injured
and affecting the delivery.
8. Find your natural arm groove (overhand, three quarters, or
in between) and stay with it. Throw all pitches from one angle.
9. Follow through. The follow-through is the body's way of
protecting itself.
10.Learn to read the body's warnings and know when to quit throwing.
There is a fine line between pain and fatigue. It is inadvisable
to throw with pain, but with supervision it is possible to gain
arm strength when throwing with fatigue.

Football & The Blonde .......
Out of all the blonde jokes, this one has to be one of the best!
Football FINALLY makes sense....
A guy took his blonde girlfriend to her first football game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench. After the game, he asked her how she liked the experience.
'Oh, I really liked it,' she replied, 'especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents.'
Dumbfounded, her date asked, 'What do you mean?' 'Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was: 'Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!'
I'm like... Helloooooo? It's only 25 cents!!!!!
P.S. A little humor, the team does not mean to offend anybody !
A Word From Your Coaches - 2009 !
Mississauga Majors AAA
THROWING - Develop accuracy, quickness and powerful throws.
- Proper footwork and alignment is key to becoming an accurate thrower.
- Prepare yourself mentally to practice perfect drills. Practice
does not make perfect; perfect practice makes perfect.
- Be committed to repetition. Once you can practice a skill with consistent repetition, your muscle memory will take over and it will become second nature.
- Maintain excellent flexibility in your arms and shoulders. Stay loose, stretch out properly.
FIELDING - Expect the ball to be hit to you every pitch.
- Mentally prepare yourself before every pitch.
- When fielding, stay low and be ready to take quick steps to the ball.
- Keep your eyes and head on the ball until it is in your
glove.
- Being physically ready is just as important as being mentally and
skillfully ready.
- You cannot be afraid of getting dirty.
HITTING - Understand the strike zone, what is a ball what is a strike.
- Develop your hit zone, look for the type and location of the pitch
you hit best and develop the ability to hit all pitches in the strike
zone.
- know your strengths and weaknesses as a hitter.
- Confidence. If you think you can hit, you will hit!
- Expect every pitch to be your hit pitch.
- Hit the ball hard somewhere all the time. Don't hit the ball out of
the park some of the time.
PITCHING - In order to pitch effectively, you have to develop three
things; control, consistency and the ability to change speeds.
- Over time, develop three basic pitches, fastball, change-up and a
breaking ball.
- You have to be a self-reliant thinker. You cannot expect the coaches or
your catcher to make all the calls for you.
- Understand hitters, pitch selection and location. Keep hitters off
balance.
- Prepare to take excellent care of your arm. Ice and run after each time
you pitch.
- If you cannot throw strikes you cannot pitch.
BASE RUNNING - Smart base runners use their eyes first, legs second.
- commit to working hard on base. Your job is not done once you have gotten
on base. Be aggressive, put pressure on the infield and outfield to
make mistakes.
- Judgment, alertness, instinct and understanding will turn a medium
skilled base runner into a excellent base runner.
- Know every situation when your on base. When to run and when not to run.
*** PLAYERS IF YOU WANT SUCCESS, LIVE BY THESE WORDS! ***

Major Tips From Your Coaches - 2009 !
Mississauga Majors AAA
THROWING - Good alignment and quick feet will increase your chances of
making accurate throws.
- Practice how you would play in a game situation.
- The better care you take of your arm the better you will throw.
- Long toss to strengthen, maintain and prevent arm and shoulder
injuries.
- Throw with passion. Remember that recreational throwing can be
your best practice. Focus on a target (partner's chest) and try
to hit it every time. Throwing is to baseball as skating is to
hockey, if you can't throw you can't play baseball.
FIELDING - Be aggressive on routine ground balls; field every one in the
middle of your body to protect you against a bad hop.
- Back up your teammates on every play; encourage them to do the
same.
- Get to know your pitcher. Don't be on your heels when the pitch
is crossing home plate.
- Go through a mental checklist before every pitch, situation,
balls, strikes, outs, runners on base, etc.
- Looking for location of pitches. Bat angles can often help you
get that extra step to make the play.
- Study hitters, pay close attention to their strength, weakness
tendencies. This will help you position yourself on the field
better.
HITTING - Know your hitting objective before you step into the batter's
box. For example, situation hitting.
- Select a bat you can handle. Bat speed is the most important,
not how big of a bat you swing.
- By average, you will fail seven out of ten times as a good
hitter. Being able to deal with failure more times than success
is critical.
- Do not get down on yourself about previous at bats. Take
advantage of every new at bat and believe you're going to do
something good.
PITCHING - Think positive at all times, never get down on yourself in any
situation.
- Mentally concentrate on your sign, target, selection and
location, prior to delivering a pitch.
- Develop rhythm and consistency through mechanics.
- Be the best conditioned athlete on your team.
- Be confident and aggressive. Know you can get every hitter out
on every pitch you throw.
BASE RUNNING - Always think next base. Be aggressive.
- When arriving at any base always find the ball.
- Slide on anything close.
- Never get picked off standing up.
- Never make the first or third out at third base.
- Touch each base with your right foot when rounding the
bases, it will save you valuable steps around the bases.
