Pitch in for Baseball Equipment Donation Drive

Clean out your garage and help give the gift of baseball to kids!

Last year (or last several year's) baseball equipment gathering dust in your garage/basement/attic?

Reclaim your space and bring your no-longer-used baseball equipment to Barness Fields April 26th and May 3rd to benefit Pitch In for Baseball, a (local) non profit that provides new and gently used baseball and softball equipment to boys and girls in the US and around the world who want to play ball but lack the equipment to do so. Over the last 9 years Pitch in for Baseball has given out over 3.5 million dollars worth of equipment to help more than 250,000 children play ball in nearly every state and more than 80 countries worldwide.

We will have boxes set up clearly marked at Barness Field entrances both April 26th and May 3rd to collect:

  • Fielding gloves
  • Youth bats
  • Catcher's mitts and protective gear
  • Batting helmets
  • Baseballs and softballs
  • Soft cover balls for Tee Ball
  • Rubber baseball cleats
  • Youth uniform pants (sets of 12, or more, if not white or gray)
  • Youth uniform shirts and hats (sets of 12, or more)
  • Umpire protective gear
  • Team equipment bags
  • Sets of bases
  • Batting tees
  • Pitching machines

We are also looking for volunteers to help transport the donations to Pitch in for Baseball's headquarters in Harleysville, PA. Please let us know if you can help us out. As an added bonus, children involved in the donation and volunteering efforts are strongly encouraged to tour Pitch in for Baseball's facility at time of donation drop off. They will learn who Pitch in for Baseball has helped in the past and who they plan on helping with donations in the future. A wonderful and enriching experience for both child and parent.

Feel free to reach out to Kim Bell or Patty Van Zanten with any further questions.

Warrington Youth Baseball Division Overview

Warrington Youth Baseball (WYB) is a Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Organization, and provides opportunities for players within our Cal Ripken Boundaries the ability to learn the game of baseball, and have a safe and fun baseball experience. In addition, to the in-house programs outlined below, WYB has travel teams which begin at age 8 and run through age 12 that play in the Suburban Travel Baseball or River Leagues.

Instructional Baseball (for ages 4-8)
At this level, the player is taught the basics of baseball - how to throw, catch, hit, run - and the rules. This bracket is made up of 4 divisions - teeball (4 & 5 year olds), coach pitch (5 & 6 year olds), and machine/kid pitch (a 7 year old division and an 8 year old division). The 8 year old in-house league team selection is on a draft. Travel baseball starts at 8 years old for those that want to play baseball at an even more competitive pace.

Minor League Baseball (for ages 9-10)
The minor league is a preparatory bracket for players to learn some of the finer points of the game and begin to play to win. Limited base stealing, player pitching and a slightly higher level of competition. Travel baseball is offered for all players in this bracket. The travel program is on a try-out basis. The in-house league team selection is on a draft - usually in February/March. You must play in-house to be on a travel team.

Major League Baseball (for ages 11-12)
The major league program is one of the highest levels of play for youth baseball. We will have no more than 10 teams at the majors level. We will play for a league championship and get into some advanced level skills. At the Major Division level all teams play on a field that has a 50' pitching mound distance and 70' base paths. Travel ball is offered at this level with tryouts in the winter. You must play in-house to be on a travel team.

Warrington Baseball's Connie Mack and American Legion program provides further opportunities for players ages 13-18. For more information on these teams please visit the website at
