2006 GSA 20U STATE CHAMPIONS!
June 25, 2006
What a great tournament for the HEAT!  You guys won the games you were supposed to win and stayed focused to win the challenging games.  What a total TEAM effort.  At this tournament, every one of you contributed to the 1st place finish.  We were able to nurse a couple of you through the tournament without aggravating existing injuries, and you were still able to contribute when you had the opportunities.  That's awesome!  Every time we play, I am amazed at the talent, ability, and heart that each of you display.  Great hitting, superb defense, and a great attitude make this an awesome team.  It is also great to have folks that are great coaches offering advice and stepping in to run the show when needed. Great job by Glen and Paul, we didn't miss a beat---thank you both.  In the end, it was a great group of girls that obviously thrive in pressure situations, that came through when it counted.  That is why you were selected to play for the HEAT, we have seen you play and have full confidence that you can get it done when it counts the most.  I believe that this team is just now starting to blossum and reach it's full potential.  It's great to know that we are getting better at the right time of the season.  Stay tuned---the best is yet to come.............  West Cobb "HEAT"
What an Awesome Tournament for the HEAT!!
March 20, 2006
All I can say is WOW!!!   The 2006 West Cobb HEAT tried their hand in Women's "C" ball for the second time this year.  We came with only 10 players and the desire to win some softball games.  Our 1st game didn't go so well, but it did not deter you guys at all.  You know how great this team is and are confidant in yourselves and each other.  You guys pulled together and worked hard the rest of the tournament.  We began our journey around 3:00 PM and played the Bounty Hunters. Our 11th player arrived during this game. We put them away 15-5 and moved forward.  Next up was the Phillies---another win 27-5.  You guys began to hit your stride and next was Gamma.  Once again the HEAT prevailed 15-6. It's getting near dusk now and no breaks for the HEAT.  Next up was the Powder Springs Stealers.  They were playing as a "D" team and we had to spot them 4 runs.  Again, the HEAT wins 15-7 and moves forward.  Next up was First Assembly. They were also a "D" team and we spotted them 4 runs.  The spot didn't bother the HEAT as we won 18-7.  That's now 5 games in a row without a break.  The next team we played was the Ga Lightning.  We had to start digging deep as the HEAT was getting tired.  The HEAT won again  20-2.  By now you guys had earned each others respect and were believing that with the HEAT, anything is possible.  Next up was the Playmakers. They had been in the winners bracket all day, but now they were against the HEAT.  One more time the HEAT got busy and put a team away  16-2.  Ok--now it was at least midnight, and the HEAT had been playing straight since 3:00 PM.  That's NINE STRAIGHT hours of softball with NO BREAKS!!.  BUT.........now the HEAT had a shot at the team that put us in the loser's bracket at the beginning of the day.  Y'all had something to prove.  By now you guys were totally exhausted and several were injured and/or sick. The Friction team got us down 8-0 early.  Not discouraged, the coaches made a small change and you guys ALL pulled it together and won the game late 14-13 to force the "IF" game.  So now the HEAT has played 8 straight games without a break and were going into the "IF" game. The Championship Game was close, at the end of 4 innings, the score was 3-3.  The HEAT knew we needed base hits and runs to put this thing away.  In the 5th inning, we scored 13 runs and held the Friction scoreless to take home the 1st place money.  In the end, the HEAT played in 9 straight games without a break---totally unbelievable!!!  We played a total of 10 games in one day!                                                                                                                                                            I have seen many fantastic things on the softball field, but nothing compares to the heart and determination showed by each and every one of you in this tournament. I appreciate all that you did.  I am proud to be a part of this great team.  What you did is not supposed to be able to be done. It is possible to come back from the loser's bracket----if you get in it late in the tournament.  But to get in after the 1st game in a 3 game guarantee bracket---that's not supposed to be possible.  You proved something to everyone, including yourselves----there is no quit in this team and the HEAT never gives up.  Awesome ladies!!   2006 is going to be an awesome year!!!  Great job!!  West Cobb "HEAT"----"Refuse To Lose"
2005 USSSA World Champions
July 23, 2005 Congratulations Heat for winning the USSSA World Championship Tournament this past weekend.
Some of the best teams in the world came from  many different states.  Four of the top teams were there.  The Heat went undefeated to beat the 2 year defending World champions from Mississippi.
Too much Heat for the Wrecking Crew to handle!  There were 644 teams in our age bracket nationally and they all wanted the Championship, but in the end, there could only be one 2005 World Champion!--The West Cobb  "HEAT"  Awesome playing girls !

Way to go HEATERS!!  You guys really hung tough on a day when we had to play hard to get it done. You guys have been in those situations many times before and your calmness and determination paid off. Just like we have said many times before, when things were not going well, you guys were all supporting each other. No blame or argueing---you guys just pick each other up and pull together as a team. You knew what you had to do to win, and you focused and got it done. That is another trademark of this team. Other teams can have a lead on us, but they know that the HEAT is never out of it. We made some great defensive plays to stay in the games and waited until we got a little offense going. The infielders had a tough day--I don't remember hardly any true hops for you guys. Ya'll stayed in front of the balls and knocked em down. The outfield also had to work hard--sometimes just plain ole hustle and effort got it done. In the end, the other teams had their moments in the battle, but the HEAT won the war. APRIL 23rd--GSA 17U WILD HORSE TOURNAMENT
April 29, 2005     HEATERS---that was how you close out a tournament!!!  Everyone did an awesome job, no matter where we put you. Even with the weather cold and windy, you guys brought the HEAT with you and played well. The "excel"lent hitting is continuing. Everyone is hitting the ball well. This appears to be the way the 2005 HEAT is going to hit. The coaches all like what we see. In this tournament, the HEAT scored 56 runs and only allowed 10. That was in 3 games. If you guys keep hitting and playing defense like you have these last few games, the HEAT is going to be tough to beat. We had 1 flat game this year. If we only have 1 out of 10 games that we are a little flat, then we will be fine. Keep up the great job!! Stay ready, work hard, stay excited about playing HEATBALL. You guys are the best, and the best for the 2005 HEAT is yet to come!!  West Cobb HEAT---"Refuse to Lose"
MARCH 26th 2005 USSSA/GSA 16U TOURNAMENT
March 27, 2005 TWO-FOR-TWO in 2005!!!  The HEAT is an amazing ballteam. Players missing, people moved in all different positions, different batting orders,etc.....it doesn't matter with this group. The HEAT machine just keeps on pumping out those wins. The 2005 HEAT has the awesome combination of three important things---great pitching, great hitting, and great defense. There are many other important things-(great speed, great attitudes, great athletes, great parents, great coaches----the list goes on and on), the HEAT has them all. The HEAT has started 2005 just like 2004--we are making a statement that we are a force to be reckoned with. There are teams that we did not see last year--(age group difference)--that will give us some good games this year. It's gonna be fun. In the 7 games in 2005, the HEAT has allowed an average of only 3.4 runs per game. That's hard to believe in slow pitch softball. It just proves once again---defense wins ballgames. In those same 7 games, the HEAT has averaged scoring 14 runs per game. Playing like that, and we are going to be tough to beat. I overheard another coach that lost a close game to the HEAT tell his players that he did not mind losing to the HEAT in a close game. Hanging close to the HEAT is a victory of sorts for other teams. They were unaware that we were missing players and were moving people all over the field. With the HEAT, it doesn't matter, we still get it done. After hanging close the first time they played us, I think they thought they were going to do it again. When it was for the tournament Championship, the HEAT did what the HEAT does---put it away and move on. The HEAT was assembled to do 2 things---have fun, and win softball tournaments. We are very proud of the 2005 HEAT...West Cobb HEAT---"Refuse to Lose"
2005 HEAT SEASON OPENER
March 13, 2005

Way to get the 2005 HEATBALL season started ladies!!  You looked smooth and in control all through the tournament.  Everyone got to play in every game and everyone contributed to this victory. The HEAT has proved once again that great pitching, great defense, and speed everywhere will win the game. We only allowed 14 runs in 4 games this tournament. The 2005 HEAT has a great new addition to the lineup--it is called "OFFENSIVE POWER" That is something we have always known we needed, now we have it. This offense scored 65 runs in 4 games against some VERY GOOD 19U teams. We are like the 2004 HEAT---TIMES TWO!!!!.  We had great plays and big hits all tournament long.  It was great to see this team have the success it deserves this early in the season. As with every HEAT team in the past, we are only going to get better as we play together more and more. Mike and I are tickled to be the coaches on this awesome team. You are fun to watch, fun to coach, fun to hang out with between games, and very fun to see you have the success you are capable of. You guys keep hangin' together and there ain't nothing you can't accomplish as a team.  Let's go HEAT-----West Cobb HEAT___"Refuse To Lose"
