West End Meeting Minutes
1. Set Registration Dates: Saturday Jan. 11th from 4:00-6:00 and Sunday Jan. 12th from 1:00-3:00 at the Old Lycoming Township Building.
2. Registration Fees set at $60.00 for the 2014 season.
3. Approved umpires request for increase to $35.00 per game and increased scorekeeper fees to $15.00 per game. Regular season fees will amount to $1105 per week.
4. Voted to start accepting credit cards for Registration, Concession Stand, Clothing Sale and at tournaments. Rate will be 2 3/4 percent on all transactions plus $30.00 per month for data charges.
5. New scoreboard will arrive Thursday and will be seeking volunteers to help install it Sunday at 12:00pm.
6. Will no longer allow players to play for West End and for another All Star eligible league. (Little League, Junior/Senior League, American Legion, Pony League, etc.)
NOTE: Players may play high school baseball. Players are also permitted to play on a travel team but must play in more than 1/2 of West End games to be eligible for All Stars. A player must give up travel ball if selected to an All Star team until All Star play is over.
West End to Host 2014 Middle Atlantic Regional Tournament
The West End Babe Ruth League has been awarded the the 2014 14-Year-Old Middle Atlantic Regional Babe Ruth Tournament starting on July 30, 2014. State representatives from Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Northern New Jersey, Southern New Jersey, Western New York, Eastern New York, and Metro New York, along with West End, will battle for the right to advance to the Babe Ruth World Series being held at Ocala, Florida as the Middle Atlantic representative.
Bat rule for 2013
The bat may not exceed 34” in length, and the bat barrel may not exceed 2 5/8” in diameter.
All aluminum/alloy barrel bats and all composite handle (only) aluminum/alloy barrel bats are allowed. These bats can be any drop.(-5, -9 etc.)
Only composite barrel bats certified and marked BBCOR .50 will be allowed.
These certified bats are -3 only.

West End HISTORY Made
For the fourth year in a row, West End Babe Ruth Baseball made History.
In 2013, West End Babe Ruth baseball had 2 teams (13 and 15 year olds) advance to the Middle Atlantic Regional Tournaments. For the second year in a row, West End placed all 3 age groups into the State Final Four. West End's 13 yr olds and 15 yr olds won their respective State Championships to add two more State Championship trophies to the case.
In 2012, West End Babe Ruth Baseball won all 3 District Titles earning this accomplishment back to back years! Even more impressive is that West End made State History. For only the 2nd time in Pennsylvania State History, a league put all 3 Age groups into the State Final Four. West End's 13 yr olds lost in the State Championship to Pottsville, the 14 yr olds lost in the State Championship to Bensalem, while the 15 yr olds lost in the State SemiFinals to Valley. West End joins Mifflin County as the only 2 leagues in Pennsylvania history to put all 3 Age Groups in the Pennsylvania State Final Four!
In 2011, West End Babe Ruth baseball won all 3 District Titles! The 13 yr olds defeated State College in a 12-10 thriller! The 13 yr olds trailed 10-3 entering the 6th inning when they scored 9 runs to take the lead. The 14 yr olds down 7-0 after 2 innings, defeated Keystone 18-8 for a wild comeback victory. The 15 yr olds defeated Potter McKean 16-3 and completed the sweep of District 8 Tournaments for West End Baseball.
In 2010, West End Babe Ruth baseball had 2 teams (13 and 14 year olds) advance to the Middle Atlantic Regional Tournaments. West End brought 2 more State Championships, a Middle Atlantic Regional Championship, and a 3rd place in the World Series home in 2010 and continue to add to the trophy case.
There is no doubt that the West End POWERHOUSE is stronger than ever!! West End continues to put strong teams on the field and are able to compete with the best around the state and country. GO WEST END!!
