West End lost in the semi-final game 5 – 4 in 9 innings to the World Series Champions West Chester, California and finished 4 – 2 in the World Series with both losses by 1 run.

Tom Ott said it best and I “quote”

"Every journey has a beginning& ending.

The 2015 West End 13 -1 5 team made a town very proud. You played w/heart, passion and a “Never give up” attitude. You were District, State and Regional Champs and 3rd place in the country! You made an everlasting impression on the “host families” there in Lawrenceburg, Tn. And have memories that will last long after the scoreboard turns off.”

Middle Atlantic Region Babe Ruth Hall of Famers

JIM and BONNIE WINDER
Inducted into MAR Hall of Fame

WILLIAMSPORT, PA …The Middle Atlantic Region of Babe Ruth Baseball honored two of its finest volunteers recently at Logue Field in the West End Babe Ruth Complex. Between games of the 14 Year-Old Middle Atlantic Region Tournament, Jim and Bonnie Winder were inducted as the newest members of the Babe Ruth League Middle Atlantic Region Hall of Fame. They are the first husband and wife team to enter the Hall.
The Winders are each completing their 34th year of service to the youth of the area. Over the years, the Winders have served in various capacities; President, Secretary, Treasurer, Manager, Coach, Scorekeeper, Refreshment Stand, fundraising, etc. Said Ron Zimmerman, Pennsylvania State Commissioner, “Their dedication is unparalleled."

Jim Winder has served as League President for the West End Babe Ruth League for 27 years. For the last 15 years, has also served as Babe Ruth League Pennsylvania District Commissioner for the area. Among multiple other responsibilities, Bonnie Winder has served as Secretary and Treasurer for the organization and can be seen almost daily in the Concession Stand and coordinating the efforts of various volunteers. Under their guidance, West End Babe Ruth League has hosted many very successful Babe Ruth League Tournaments, including District, State, and Regional Tournaments. This includes the 2014 Middle Atlantic Region 14 Year-Old Tournament this year.
In 2003, the Winders were inducted into the Babe Ruth League Pennsylvania State Hall of Fame.

Thank You!!!!!

A BIG Thank You goes out to Jim and Bonnie Winder for their tireless commitment to the league. From the organizing of the league year to year, concession stand, and field preparation, to the weather, and the state/regional tournaments held each year, your efforts are greatly appreciated. West End has 2 of the most amazing people running it! We are truly blessed to have Jim and Bonnie Winder!

West End HISTORY Made

In 2015, West End Babe Ruth advanced 2 teams to the Babe Ruth World Series. The 15 year olds finished 3rd in their series in Tennessee, and the 18's finished 3rd  in their series in Oregon. West End's 14 year olds finished runner-up at Middle Atlantic Regional losising to Atlantic Shore, N.J. who won the 14 World series. West End's 13 year olds finished in the final 4 in the Pa. State Tournament.

In 2014, West End Babe Ruth 14 year olds won the State Championship and finished runner-up in the Middle Atlantic Regional. The 13 year olds lost in the State Championship game to Broomal/Newtown who ended up winning the Babe Ruth World Series.

In 2013, West End Babe Ruth baseball had 2 teams (13 and 15 year olds) advance to the Middle Atlantic Regional Tournaments. For the second year in a row, West End placed all 3 age groups into the State Final Four. West End's 13 yr olds and 15 yr olds won their respective State Championships to add two more State Championship trophies to the case.

In 2012, West End Babe Ruth Baseball won all 3 District Titles earning this accomplishment back to back years! Even more impressive is that West End made State History. For only the 2nd time in Pennsylvania State History, a league put all 3 Age groups into the State Final Four. West End's 13 yr olds lost in the State Championship to Pottsville, the 14 yr olds lost in the State Championship to Bensalem, while the 15 yr olds lost in the State SemiFinals to Valley. West End joins Mifflin County as the only 2 leagues in Pennsylvania history to put all 3 Age Groups in the Pennsylvania State Final Four!

In 2011, West End Babe Ruth baseball won all 3 District Titles! The 13 yr olds defeated State College in a 12-10 thriller! The 13 yr olds trailed 10-3 entering the 6th inning when they scored 9 runs to take the lead. The 14 yr olds down 7-0 after 2 innings, defeated Keystone 18-8 for a wild comeback victory. The 15 yr olds defeated Potter McKean 16-3 and completed the sweep of District 8 Tournaments for West End Baseball.

In 2010, West End Babe Ruth baseball had 2 teams (13 and 14 year olds) advance to the Middle Atlantic Regional Tournaments. West End brought 2 more State Championships, a Middle Atlantic Regional Championship, and a 3rd place in the World Series home in 2010 and continue to add to the trophy case.

There is no doubt that the West End POWERHOUSE is stronger than ever!! West End continues to put strong teams on the field and are able to compete with the best around the state and country. GO WEST END!!
