West Point Parents,

As with any parent-run organization there is a certain amount of help that is required to assure smooth operations resulting in the best possible experience for the children participating.  Thankfully, we've been very fortunate in this area.  Many, many people offer to help out regularly with the various projects going on in and about the Little League Organization.

With this in mind, we thought that it would be beneficial to have a coordinated Volunteer effort so that anyone who is interested in lending a helping hand can find his/her favorite place to help and that we have enough help in all areas.

Listed below are 2 of the committees that need volunteers for us to move along with the planning.  If you would like to donate your time in any of the following areas, please contact Colleen Queen at colqueen@verizon.net and she will gladly help to find you a time and place to help based on your response.

Thank you so much for all of your continued support!  We really have a lot of creative things going on and that is to your credit as parents who are willing to pitch in and help!

                            WE NEED YOUR HELP

NIGHT AT THE RACES (Saturday, May 1, 2010)

We are looking for 30 minute shifts in the following areas:

Set-Up - we need 2-3 people to help with set-up

Registration - collecting tickets at the door

50/50 - selling tickets the night of the event

Kitchen - assuring smooth serving of the food the night of the event

Betting - taking bets the night of the event (these shifts are an hour or longer depending on the number of volunteers)

Basket/Chinese Auction - selling tickets the night of the event

Time Manager - someone to work with the Night at the Races Coordinators to help things stay on time that night (raffles, 50/50 drawings, etc)

Clean Up - helping to clean up at the end of the night

Lights - someone to turn the lights off/on before and after each race (you will have a seat(s) reserved ahead of time for you close to the lightswitch)

**If you can donate a 1/2 hour of your time to help out at the Night at the Races, please email Colleen Queen at colqueen@verizon.net and she can sign you up!

Baskets: We are looking for merchandise/products or monetary donations to be used in our Chinese Auction.  Your name/company will be recognized for the donation on the basket and in our program.

If you questions regarding donations for the auction, please contact Jocelyn Petrosky at djpetrosky@verizon.net

If anyone is willing to donate money towards the cost or the service of printing the Programs for “The Night at The Races”, please let me know.

                                   Concession Stand Committee

This is a group made up of 10-15 people who are willing to open and close the stand approximately 3-4 times a season. This group also makes decisions regarding the daily operations of the concession stand.  If this sounds like a great volunteer opportunity for you, please email Colleen Queen at colqueen@verizon.net

Looking ahead, we will also be needing volunteers in the following areas:  Tournament Committee (field maintenance, Programs, Recruiting Teams, Bracketology and Uniforms), Uniform Distribution/Collection, Sponsorship (seeking out local businesses to become League sponsors at various levels), Team Parent (helping the coach with some team details) and Challenger Program (more info on WPLL website).  Please check your email in the next week or so regarding these volunteer opportunities!

Thank you in advance for all of your help!

Parent Reminder:

Attn: Parents/Guardians:

The possibility of harm to our children is everywhere and the West Point Little League; Board of Directors, Team Managers and Coaches are reminded the level of comfort we sometimes get used to in relation to our children attending events at any of our facilities.

We are requesting that all parents/guardians to stay for the duration of their child’s practices and games, DO NOT leave children unattended.

We always are attentive to our player’s and visiting family member’s safety both on and off the field. If you should experience or observe any suspicious activity do not hesitate to contact the authorities and then a member of our board.

Thank you for assisting in keeping our properties and events safe for all attendees.
