***Player Release Policy and
Form***
TBA PLAYER RELEASE PROTOCOL:
Under the TBA constitution a player
is properly registered with a local association team when the team roster is
signed by the player (if the player is younger than 18, by a parent) and then
approved by the TBA Registrar. The player’s playing rights remain with that
local association team for the following year if it continues to operate a team
in the series for which the player’s age qualifies him/her. In addition, should
a player not register with a TBA club but play either professional baseball or
with a team that participates in a programme that is
not under OBA jurisdiction, said player’s playing rights remain with the TBA
local association with which the player last registered.
If a player wishes to register with
another team, it is necessary to obtain a release. To do so the player or parent
should prepare the TBA Player Release Form, which may be
downloaded from this site. The form should then be submitted to the
President, Secretary or Registrar of the local association holding the playing
rights. It should be noted that managers and coaches are not authorized to
approve releases, except in the case of Senior teams.
If the release is approved, the
form must be signed in the designated place (A) by the proper local association
authority and returned to the player/parent involved. This release should then
be given to the manager or coach of any new team with which the player wishes
to register.
If the release request is denied,
the form must be signed in the designated place (B) by the proper local association
authority and returned to the player/parent involved. The player/parent then
has the right to appeal the denial of the release request to the TBA President
who will appoint a committee consisting of
a minimum of 3 members of the TBA Executive Committee to hear the appeal. If
this TBA committee also denies the request for release, the player/parent may
appeal the decision to Baseball Ontario.
If a player released from a local
association wishes to register with a team outside of Toronto, a further release is required
from the TBA.
