Wolves Travel Baseball
The Winfield Wolves is the traveling baseball program of the Winfield In Action (WIA) Youth Sports Association. This program is geared towards WIA players and Winfield Park District residents ages 10 to 14, who are seeking a higher level of competition and who are willing to make a substantial commitment to playing baseball. Players are selected by a committee based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, performance level, commitment, ability, effort and attitude. Tryouts for the Wolves program are held in August for the upcoming season. Wolves Travel Baseball has historically fielded full-time teams at the 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U age levels. We strongly encourage grade appropriate play. Age eligibility is determined by the player’s age on April 30th, 2012.
The mission of the Winfield Wolves Travel Baseball Program is to provide opportunities for the more competitive ballplayer. Our travel program strives to provide a higher level of coaching and training that will assist in the development of the ballplayer.
The Wolves play an aggressive schedule (approx. 40-60 games), competing with other community traveling teams and in local and (possibly) out of state tournaments. Teams train indoors throughout the winter months, and practices continue throughout the season, which typically runs from April through the end of July.
There is a registration fee charged to each player to help cover the costs associated with this program. We are proud of the fact that we keep our registration costs low, due to the volunteer participation of parents and family members who help with fundraising efforts and concession duties. Sponsors also play a very important role in assisting with our travel program.
Registration Fee: $500.00
This fee includes field-use fees, umpire fees, complete uniforms (home and away), tournament fees, training fees, etc. Not included are shoes (cleats), helmets, or other personal equipment items.
Note that playing time will depend on, but is not limited to, a player’s performance, dedication, and attitude during practice and games and is at the MANAGER’S DISCRETION. Players will not be guaranteed playing time. Every effort will be made to give players a chance to earn positions during practices and practice games.
If your child is chosen to be a member of a Wolves team, a non-refundable deposit of $250.00 is due immediately upon notification. The remainder of the fee will be due by January 1, 2012.
