****Warriors All-Stars selected****
June 15, 2007 — Congratulations to Roy Moncada and Frank Rivera on their selection to the 2007 NYCMBL Brooklyn/Queens All-Star team. Moncada and Rivera look to represent the Warriors proudly and the team wishes to applaud the guys on their well-deserved selection.
Warriors continue their pace sweeping the Skyline
June 10, 2007 — Game 1: Warriors 8 Skyline 3

The return of Jonathan Bonhomme

A day after Hall-of-Fame bound Roger Clemens returned to the Bronx
Bombers pitcher Jonathan Bonhomme made a triumphant return to the
Warriors to recapture the All-Star type performances that he brought to
the 2005 team. Although Bonhomme officially returned to the team a week
earlier in the outfield it was his first appearance on the mound after a
2 year hiatus in which he completed his college obligations in the
classroom and on the mound at the University of West Virginia. The
southpaw pitched 6 strong innings and struck out 9 while allowing 2
earned runs in his first win of the season. The Warrior offense was a
balanced attacked but was led by Martin Honoret who went 2-for-2 with 4
rbi's, 2 of which came off his 2-run HR in the top of the 5th inning.
The Warriors continue to improve...

Game 2: Warriors 2 Skyline 1

Game 2 featured a pitching duel between Warrior ace Frank Rivera and
Skyline starter Jonathan Baez. Rivera pitched another masterpiece,
throwing 8 innings while allowing 3 hits and an earned run. The crafty
righthander struck out 14 Skyline batters bringing his spectacular
strikeout total to 76. Baez kept the Warriors at bay until the 8th
inning when he walked 2 batters which enabled the the runner from 2nd
(Charles Ramos) to score on a fielding error by the Skyline shortstop.
Baez did not allow an earned run.

The Warriors continue to improve and are coming into their own with a
10-4
record. Will they continue their current streak ? We will have to
see........Stay tuned!
Warriors Pull Themselves Together with a Sweep of the Skyscrapers
June 3, 2007 — Game 1: Warriors 9 Skyscrapers 5

Game 1 featured another pitching masterpiece by Frank Rivera who
recorded a complete game 2-hitter while striking out 12. Steven Ramos
and Jonathan Bonhomme led a balanced Warrior attack of the Skyscrapers.
Ramos went 1-2 with 3 rbi's while Bonhomme contributed 2 rbi's in a
1-for-3 effort.

Game 2: Warriors 4 Skyscapers 3

The second game of the doubleheader was a total team effort and featured
a pitching duel between Warrior starter Joey Rivera and Skyscraper
righthander Jorge Almarante. Almarante kept the Warriors at bay until
the final inning when the Warriors manufactured the tying and winning
runs by playing small-ball. Joshua "Turk" Rodriguez took the mound in
relief to shut the door on the Skyscrapers as the once revered Warriors
begin their season comeback with a sweep of the Skyscrapers.
Defending Champs Sweep Warriors
May 20, 2007 — Brooklyn Knights sweep Warriors as team loses focus.

The combined strikeout totals for the doubleheader is telling: Warrior
Pitching:22 strikeouts, BK Knight pitching: 5 strikeouts. Even with a
stikeout margin this large the Warriors somehow managed to lose game 1
by a score of 13-2 and game 2 14-9. (The Warriors also out-hit the
Knights 20 to 17).

Game 1: BK Knights 13 Warriors 2

The Warriors committed 7 errors enroute to a 13-2 mercy stoppage.
Pitcher Frank Rivera suffered his 1st loss of the season but will come
back to avenge the defeat as the defense allowed an astonishing 9
unearned runs. Rivera continued his strikeout dominance as the
righthander stuckout 6 Knights in 6 innings of work but the team's
performance as a whole was a total letdown.

Game 2: BK Knights 14 Warriors 9

The Warriors committed another 7 errors in a 14-9 game-2 defeat to the
defending champion Knights. The team tried but couldn't overcome the
deficit created by those fielding miscues and were swept for the first
time this season. Some of the few bright spots for the Warriors were
Frank Rivera who went 3-for-4 and Joshua "Turk" Rodriguez who went
2-for-2 with 2 rbi's. The Warriors were simply embarrassed by the
defending champions but hope to learn from their mistakes a third of the
way through the season.
Warriors sweep BlueJays in week 5
May 13, 2007
Game 1: Warriors 11 BlueJays 2

Starter Frank Rivera once again performed brilliantly in the Warriors 11-2 victory over the ElmJack BlueJays in game 1 of the doubleheader. Rivera continues to retire batters at an astonishing rate, this time striking out 12 batters in a 6-inning complete game 3-hit effort. The Warrior offense picked up where it left off last week as Roy Moncada and Jeremy White each had 2 hits and 2 rbi's while Rivera and Danny Santiago each went 2-for-4. Birthday boy Jerry Taveras went 2-for-3 with 2 stolen bases which is noteworthy due to an interesting piece of trivia: he also went 2-for-3 with 2 stolen bases on his birthday last year - (a 16-2 game 2 victory over the lowly Beers).

Game 2: BlueJays 3 Warriors 9

The Return of "Stats"
Danny "Stats" Santiago returned from his collegiate obligations in a triumphant 9-3 complete game victory over the Elmjack Bluejays. Santiago beleaguered the Bluejay offense striking out 15 batters while allowing only 1 earned run in 7 innings. Always having a flare for the dramatic Santiago lead off game 2 with a booming opposite field homerun to rightfield that traveled an estimated 310' feet. "Stats" then subsequently took an estimated 3 minutes to round the bases. Joshua "Turk" Rodriguez continues to catch fire going 2-for-3 while Roy Moncada continues his hot start by once again going 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base. Martin Horonet contributed 2 rbi's while Norberto Jorge broke the game open with a bases loaded 3 rbi single in the bottom of the 3rd.
For those that see the game as a whole it should be noted that defense is an important ingredient to winning and C Norberto Jorge certainly delivered in that role. Jorge kept BlueJay baserunners on their toes with his traumatizing effect behind the plate. Throwing behind baserunners, throwing out basestealers, making baserunners absolutely paranoid, - Jorge's defense is certainly an integral part of the Warriors' success.
The defending Champion Brooklyn Knights are up next for the Warriors who look to take this opportunity to show everyone who the league's #1 team really is.
Warriors Sweep Beers
May 6, 2007 — The "Rivera Boys" headlined the weekend sweep over the Beers at College
Point.

Game 1: Beers 4 Warriors 17

Starting pitcher Frank Rivera continues to blow away the competition
with yet another stellar all-around performance. Rivera continued the
brilliant start to his Warrior career by striking out 10 Beers while
allowing 3 hits in a complete game 5-inning 17-4 shellacking. The
Warriors steamrolled through the Beers as Rivera once again led the
attack at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double and 5 rbi's. 3B Jerry
Taveras added to the carnage going 3-for-4 with 4 rbi's.

Game 2: Warriors 9 Beers 3

Starting pitcher Joey Rivera (no relation) continued the pitching
mastery of game 1 by striking out 11 while allowing 4 hits in a complete
game 9-3 stomping. In a fashion similar to his rotation mate, Joey
Rivera contributed at the plate by going 2-for-2 with a double and a run
scored. EH James Buglione added to the mix by knocking in his first rbi,
stealing his 1st base, and scoring the first run of his NYCMBL career.

Warrior pitching struck out a combined 21 batters in 11 innings in the
doubleheader as the league's "10th ranked team" improved to 4-2 overall
in the Brooklyn division. It seems as though the league may have awoken
a sleeping giant by attributing a puzzling #10 ranking to this
talent-rich roster. This simply does not bode well for the Warriors'
next opponent: the Elmjack Bluejays.
Warriors Split Week 3 Vs. Skyline
April 29, 2007 — Coming from a split in week 2 vs. the BlueSox, the Warriors split week 3 vs. Skyline.

Game 1: Skyline 3 Warriors 2

The Warriors continued their early season offensive slump during a 3-2 defeat in game 1 of a doubleheader versus the Skyine. Starting pitcher Norberto Jorge allowed only 1 hit while striking out 10 but it was his 8 walks that contributed to the loss. Two of the Skyline runs were scored on bases-loaded walks while the third was scored on a passed ball allowing the runner from the 3rd to score. Roy Moncada went 2-for-3 and Charles Ramos went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and 1 rbi but it wasn't enough to counter the Skyline's 3 fluke runs as Skyline starter Jetmir Hodzic allowed 8 scattered hits while walking none. The lone Skyline hit came on a breaking ball left up in the zone to 1B Ozzie Cruz.

Game 2: Warriors 9 Skyline 0

It was the tale of 2 opposing pitchers in game 2 of the doubleheader as the Warriors took their anger out on Skyline starter Hector (Fish) Cartagena in a 9-0 trouncing while Warriors starter Frank Rivera baffled Skyline batters during a complete game 3-hit, 13 strikeout performance. It was another masterful performance by Rivera who was pitching a no-hitter until giving up a harmless lead-off single in the top of the 5th inning to C Jonathan Baez. Rivera also contributed on offense going 1-for-3 with 2 rbi's and a stolen base. Roy Moncada added an rbi sacrifice fly during a 5-run 5th inning that also saw rbi's from Charles Ramos, Martin Honoret, and the aforementioned Rivera. Catcher Greg Pizzaro went 1-for-3 with 2 runs scored and threw out a runner (in spectacular fashion) in his Warriors debut.

All in all Warrior pitching struck out 23 skyline batters while allowing only FOUR hits in the doubleheader but could only go home with a split of the series. The Beers are up next for the Warriors who look to make further improvement on offense (and everywhere else).
Warriors Split Opening Week with BlueSox
April 21, 2007 — After opening day Week 1 rained out, the Warriors finally open up against the BlueSox to split week 2.

Game 1: BlueSox 7 Warriors 3

With their opening day pushed back 1 week due to inclement weather the Williamsburg Warriors finally took to the field on Saturday after a 2-week layoff. Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the 6th, the Bluesox drew a lead off walk, followed by: a hit batter mixed in with 2 scattered hits, a passed ball and another hit batter. This opened the flood gates allowing the BlueSox to score 5 runs. Now coping with a 7-0 deficit the cold Warrior bats finally awoke in the top of the 7th inning when Martin Honoret grounded out to second scoring Shane Dunn who led off the inning with a walk. This was followed by a single off the bat of C Charles Ramos who would eventually score on a 2-run single by SS Joel Vasquez. The trademark Warrior comeback was thwarted by questionable baserunning as the Warriors could only muster 3 runs in a disappointing 7-3 loss.

Game 2: Warriors 3 BlueSox 1

1st year Warrior P Frank Rivera was the story of game 2 pitching a 1-hit masterpiece in taming the BlueSox bats and leading the Warriors to a 3-1 victory. Rivera struck out 9 batters and did not allow an earned run. Rivera contributed 3 hits and 2 rbi's at the plate to combine with Roy Moncada to account for 6 of the team's 8 hits. Giovanni Nunez had a hit and scored a run and Jerry Taveras added an important insurance run with a sacrifice fly to leftfield. It was a bittersweet victory for a team that has yet to display their true offensive prowess.
