After countless attempts to reconcile with the City of Wichita Parks and Recs, and a city ultimatum with a deadline for Monday March 16, 2009. The teams have decided to breakaway from the City ran league. The Wichita Metro Youth Football League has been established and will begin operations this upcoming fall. This will be a league that will give back to the kids, teams and community that supports it.
The Metro league will play it's games on the following fields, USD 259, City Fields and Wichita State University.
Metro League Sign Ups
The Wichita Metro Youth Football League will be hosting a league wide sign up on Sunday May 31, 2009 from 12 to 5pm at the 4 H building on the S.E. corner of 21st & Ridge Road.
A copy of the players Birth Certificate will be required.
League photo ID's will be taken on that date.
Players will be able to get their physicals at that time. There will be a $15.00 charge, with $5.00 going back to the WMYFL.
The League will have Local and National vendors at the event. Food will be served free of charge.
The Board of Directors has been voted on and can be seen on the contact info on the menu on the left. All of the teams carry a voice and an equal vote. There also is an Executive Board and that can be seen there as well.
We are currently populating the Teams and Directors information. You can see that on the menu under teams. The forum is open so feel free to post your comments.
The League is established for the 2009 season, no new teams will be allowed for this season. Teams that are wanting to be considered for the 2010 season can request to become a member and will have to be voted in. If a team is voted in, they will be allowed to paricipate in the league but won't carry a Board Member (vote).

There is no extra charge for the above benefits, except for the camps and clinics or anything that is not owned or operated by the WMYFL.
There will be more to add as we establish a calendar of events, dress codes, standards of performance, upgrading equipment & uniforms. It will be a process voted and agreed by all Board Members. Providing a better service to the kids in the Wichita Metro area.
Ask yourself, if your not in the Metro League are you where you need to be? Does any other league offer what the Metro League offers your son, can they get the exposure required to get him to the next level in order to further his education. Does your team truly care about your son's future or are they worried about a trophy that will collect dust in the garage and how will they lay the foundation to accomplish that goal.
WE LOVE YOU MOM METRO GOES PINK!!!!!!!
As part of our community outreach program. The WMYFL has partnered with the Susan Komen Foundation to raise awareneness concerning breast cancer. The players will wear a pink ribbon on the back of their helmets.
As seen on T.V. many times, when a camera person gets a close up of a football player during a game, they will always say "love you mom".

7th & 8th Grade All American Game
The pictures below are from the Inaugural 7th & 8th Grade All American game held in the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Tx. There are 2 divisions in 8th Grade, light and heavyweight.
The Junior All-American selection process starts with 60 FBU regional directors and scouts located throughout the United States identifying the top youth talent in America. The scouts will attend youth games; speak with area coaches and local media to find the top players. FBU will meet with coaches in their region during a “selection night” whereby nominations will be made. After getting nominated as an elite player, FBU will have our Player Development Directors contact and interview the player as well as review a game or highlight tape of the player showcasing their ability. Each player nominated will be ranked based on their ability. After reviewing thousands of nominations the FBU Player Development Directors will select 44 athletes (22 east 22 west) per game that have distinguished themselves to be named an FBU All-American.
Once selected a number of players will be profiled in SI for Kids as Junior All-Americans. They will also be featured in other media outlets both local and national. The games will be played in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas and will be televised live via web cast. The youth All-Americans will participate in a host of true bowl week activities; hearing from Hall of Famers, current and former NFL stars and meeting and spending time with the nation’s top high school All-Americans during the biggest week of football in their careers.

Metro Public Relations Director named FBU Regional Director for Kansas & Missouri
March 19, 2009 —
Wichita Aztecs Director/Head Coach Manny Martinez was named FBU Regional Director for Kansas and Missouri. Coach Martinez was contacted by FBU Director Bret Cooper after the Aztecs won their first National Championship in Daytona Beach Florida. Martinez's job will consist of hosting a camp in Wichita for 2010. He currently is hosting a camp for FBU on June 26 thru the 28th in Missouri.
Martinez will be scouting players from the Metro League and throughout the state of Kansas to recommend them to FBU and the 7-8 grade All-American game in the Alamo Dome in San Antonio Tx.
"The whole purpose of this league and FBU is to give the players exposure and prepare them for the next level" Martinez stated.
Martinez will head up the Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, and fundraising for the league. Cedric Payne, Head Coach for 7th Grade Bulldogs, and Tiffany McCoy, Asst. Director Eagles, will assist to set up staffing and packages.
Martinez added, "Wichita has never seen what we are going to do, this with time will be the premier league in Kansas if not the midwest. When we travel to Tulsa for the Sooner Classic, we get a small taste of what Jenks and Union bring to the table. They have to rent a College Stadium, when the two High Schools play and they sell out, everytime!! It's an incredible atmoshpere. We want to strive for that. We want the best for our kids. I have a passion for what I do and the opportunities it creates for the kids".
