2011 Wolverines Team Picture
Wolverines Picture Day Coming Up Soon!!
January 13, 2011 —
The Wolverines are scheduled to have team and individual pictures taken on Thursday January 27, prior to that night's practice. Individual pictures will be taken starting at 5:30pm with the team picture taken at 6pm. Practice will follow the pictures. The Sports Section, who is the photographer, will have different photo packages available for purchase. The photo package information will be handed out soon at an upcoming practice. For the team photo, the wrestlers should wear their Wolverines tee shirts and black shorts. Wrestlers can choose to wear the same for the individual photo or they can wear their singlets.
Free Wrestling Clinic

There will be a FREE wrestling clinic at the Bay Bridge Novice Tournament in Queen Anne's County this Saturday 1/15 at 11 AM. Please consider registering your wrestler for the tournament and clinic. Cary Kolat, a college wrestling national champion and Olympic team member, will be hosting the clinic. His website is worth checking out: http://www.kolat.com/ for free video clips.

Wolverines Wrestling Apparel On Sale

If you are buying the apparel package for your wrestler (hoodie, sweatpants, t-shirt, & shorts) you need to turn in the $50 at the Wednesday 12/1 practice. To offset the $5 increase, all wrestlers who buy the package will receive a free gear bag that has the Wolverines logo on it. Please confirm the sizes to be ordered at that time also. If you are not buying the package, your wrestler will still be receiving a free t-shirt (we need the size!!). We will be placing the order on Thursday 12/2 and the apparel should arrive prior to Christmas.
Wolverines Season Starts Tuesday November 16

The Wicomico Wolverines begin their 2010-11 season with the first practice on Tuesday November 16, 2010 at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury. Practices will be held from 6pm to 7:30pm. The registration form for the upcoming season can be found and downloaded from the "Handouts" tab in the left margin. You can view the practice schedule by clicking on the schedule tab on the left margin.

MSWA Maryland State Youth Championships

8th Annual MSWA State Youth Tournament
In an effort to create several dates and locations for the MSWA State Youth qualifying tournaments, there will be 5 open qualifying tournaments. This years’ 8th Annual MSWA State Youth Tournament will be held on February 19 & 20, 2011 at the Carroll County Agriculture Center in Westminster, Md. The 7/8 & 9/10 age groups will be held on Saturday, February 19th and the 11/12 & 13/14 age groups will be Sunday, February 20th. The entry fee for the State qualifiers has been reduced to $17 and the State Youth Tournament will be $25.00 per wrestler.
Bout Masters LLC, the professional firm that ran the successful event at Timonium Fairgrounds, has been hired to administer the operation of the tournament and officials from MWOA have been hired for the officiating. Each weight class will be a 16 man bracket with 3 each from 4 of the qualifying tournaments and 4 from the largest qualifying tournament.
The 2011 qualifying tournaments are as follows:
January 29th at Landon School in Montgomery County;
January 30th at Mt. St. Joe High in Baltimore City;
3 on February 5th at:
Unique Sports Academy in Charles County;
Aberdeen High School in Harford County;
Boonsboro High in Washington County.
Entry fee for all qualifying tournaments is $17.00 per wrestler & a USA wrestling membership card is required for all events. Each of the qualifiers will be open to any youth wrestler until they qualify for the State Championships. Once qualified, wrestlers may not compete in another qualifier.
