Information Regarding NCMYH
Dear NCMYH Players and Parents,
We are pleased to announce that the Ash-West, Greater Gardner and Winchendon Youth Hockey organizations have completed the combination of our teams to form North Central Mass Youth Hockey (NCMYH). We will be playing our games for the season at the NorthStar Youth Forum in Westboro, MA. We have also established a new website, NCMYH, which will contain all information regarding game and practice schedules as well as other information which pertains to the entire association. The individual sites for the three organizations will be maintained to include specific information with regard to each organization, however, all schedules will be posted on the new website, so please log into NCMYH for scheduling information.
This message is also to notify you that there will be a mandatory meeting for all players for the upcoming 2011-2012 season. The meeting will be held on Thursday July 21st, 2011 at 7 pm at the Colonial Hotel, 625 Betty Spring Road, Gardner, MA.
This meeting will be to meet with your coaches for the upcoming season, meet teammates, answer any questions about the upcoming season and to complete any necessary paperwork and be fitted for jerseys. We ask that you bring with you a copy of your USA Hockey registration (these will be absolutely required before players are allowed on the ice for the first practice). If you are unable to make it to the meeting, you must contact a board member as soon as possible to make arrangements to meet prior to the July 21st meeting to get your jersey fitting. The jersey orders will be submitted shortly after the meeting is held to ensure that we receive them in time for the first game of the season.
Again, this meeting is mandatory for all players. If you will not be able to attend, please contact me as soon as possible to make arrangements to meet before July 21st. We apologize for the short notice of this meeting, however we have been busy coordinating all the details as well as working out some information we would like to share with you prior to the meeting. The cost for participation in NCMYH has been set at $900 - this includes the purchase of a team jersey. Winchendon Youth Hockey will be covering the cost of the jersey (approximately $50) and in addition to that we will be offering each player a credit of $50. This will bring each player's financial responsibility to $800. More details will be available on our website very soon with additional details regarding the upcoming season. We will be sending an email to let you know when new information has been added. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting. Thank you, Newton Lundsted, President Rick Simoneau, Vice President Lara Greene, Treasurer Heidi Michaud, Secretary

About WYH
Winchendon Youth Hockey is a non-profit organization serving Winchendon and its neighboring communities, including southern New Hampshire. We have players between the ages of 4 and 18 currently participating in our program. WYH Mites, Squirts, Pee Wees, and Bantams have combined with the GGYH and Ash West teams this year to form the Northern Central Mass Youth Hockey organization and will play their games in the North Star Forum (Westboro) League. With many teams playing at each of the age levels, this league is very competitive, and allows for a team to move around within their level and find a good fit and competitive play. After an initial parity round, the teams are then evaluated and placed in a division of teams with comparable records to begin the regular season. After those first games, if a team is determined to not be a good fit in the division where they were initially placed, either as a result of consistent and overwhelming wins or losses, a team can then be moved to a different division, still within their age level, for the remaining games. This allows for more competitive hockey games and promotes stronger development of all players.
All hockey games are played at the North Star Forum in Westboro, MA. Practices will be held at the Winchendon School, Veteran's Arena in Gardner and Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, MA
WYH also offers a six-week Learn to Skate session which teaches beginning skating techniques. Minimal equipment (skates and helmet) is required.
The WYH Mini-Mite/InHouse program runs from October - March and is for those who desire to learn the game of hockey. While it is beneficial for the players to already know how to skate, it is not essential. Full protective equipment, as well as a hockey stick, is required.
For more information about any of the programs offered by Winchendon Youth Hockey, please click on Contact Us and direct your inquiries or comments to one of the Executive Board members.
