2012 EPYSA NCS State Champions
The Xplosion '98 girls won the 2012 State Cup with a victory over the West Chester Predators, 2-1, at USTC on Saturday. The team went up 1-0 on a corner kick that was headed into the net. They then went on to score another goal before the first half was over. The Predators never gave up and came back to score a goal off a corner kick half way through the second half. The Xplosion girls were able to contain the West Chester team for the rest of the game on their way to victory. Great job, girls! Congratulations to all the coaches, girls and parents.
About YMS Xplosion '98...YMS Xplosion ‘98 is a girl’s travel team coached and trained by YMS Director of Coaching, John Greaves. The team participates in the Philadelphia Area Girls Soccer (PAGS) League in the Fall and Jersey Area Girls Soccer (JAGS) League in the Spring. Some of the tournaments the team will participate in are: Jefferson Cup, (VA) / Washington Area Girls Soccer Tournament (VA) / Eastern PA Invitational Classic (PA) / Delco Cup (PA) / Spirit United (PA) To learn more about John Greaves, please visit the trainer’s page on the YMS Soccer Website. YMS Wins U13 Colonial League Title
The YMS Xplosion U13 girls won the Region 1 Colonial League Title with a record of 6-0-1. The team posted 20 goals while only allowing 3 by their opponents. The title guarantees the team a spot in the Region 1 league for the 2013 season. Congratulations!
MAPS Spring Challenge 2012 Champions
The girls dominated the MAPS Spring Challenge tournament this weekend by winning all of their games and outscoring the competition 28-0.
LDC Spring Warmup Champions
The girls won their second tournament of 2012 by going undefeated at the LDC Spring Warmup tournament. The team played strong defensively throughout the weekend and did not allow a goal until three minutes left in the championship game.
Winners of Disney President's Day Tournament
They YMS Xplosion '98 girls travelled to Orlando over the President's Day weekend to attend the Disney Showcase at Wide World of Sports. The girls won their first two games 8-0 and 4-0 and then they met up with a tough FC America team from Florida and tied 0-0. The girls made it to the semi-final that evening and were able to easily handle their opponent, Mako Soccer Club of Flordia, 6-1. They met up with the FC America team in the finals on Monday. The game was tough and YMS was losing 1-0 until 5 minutes left in the game when the tied it and forced an overtime. The Xplosion girls were able to score the winning goal on the first drive and then hold off the FC America girls to capture the title. Great job, girls!
PAGS Division Winners - 3rd year in a row!
The Xplosion girls won the PAGS Division I title for the third consecutive year. The team went 8-0-0 and netted 22 goals while allowing their competition to score only 4. The girls were accepted to play in the U13 Colonial League in the Spring Season.
Xplosion wins FC Delco 2011 Memorial Day Tournament
Over a very hot Memorial Day weekend, the Xplosion girls went 6-0 and won the FC Delco Players Cup. The team scored 17 goals and only allowed their opponents to score 3 goals against them. The girls defeated the Kings KSA Elite from Kentucky on Sunday afternoon to advance to the semi-finals against the NJ Somerset Hills Scarlet Magic on Monday. After a 3-0 win, the girls defeated another NJ team, FC Sting Charge, 2-0 in the finals before collecting their medals and heading home to enjoy a few hours of the holiday weekend with family and friends.
Xplosion Girls 2011 EPIC Champions
The Xplosion '98 girls won their own tournament over Mother's Day weekend. The girls advanced to the finals after 2 strong wins over the Long Island Rough Riders and the Morris United/STA Fury. The Championship game was a battle with HMMS with the Xplosion girls winning 2-0. Congratulations to the girls on a great tournament.
Xplosion Girls win PDA 2011 Kickoff Classic
The Xplosion Girls '98 won the PDA Kickoff Classic. The team played and won against two tough teams on Saturday, the FC Stars from Massachusetts (2-0) and the FC Sting from New Jersey (2-1). On Sunday the team played against the Marlton Soccer Devils and won 7-2 to win their bracket and advance to the Championship game against host team, PDA O'Reilly. The teams battled for 60 minutes with the YMS Xplosion girls winning 2-1.
2011 Jefferson Cup Championship Finalists
The Xplosion girls were finalists in the Championship Bracket of the 2011 Jefferson Cup Tournament! The team beat the Tophat team from Georgia 5-0 in their opening game. They lost the afternoon game to a tough team from Colorado, the Colorado Storm Royal 2-1. Sunday morning the girls tied HBC Intense from NYE 0-0 to claim the wildcard spot in the semi-finals. The team played hard and defeated the FC Sting from NJ 1-0 to advance to the championship against the Colorado Storm. The teams played a tough battle and were tied at 1 for most of the game until the Storm scored with less than 2 minutes left in the game. What a great accomplishment for the Xplosion girls in such a prestigious tournament!
Xplosion '98 Girls win Penn Legacy 2011 Academy Cup
The Xplosion girls went 2-0-1 on their way to winning the U12 Championship Division of the Penn Legacy Academy Cup. The championship game was decided by penalty kicks, which the Xplosion won 4-2. Congratulations to the girls on an exciting victory.
Xplosion Girls win 2011 EPYSA Indoor State Cup
The Xplosion '98 girls won all five of their games by a margin of 26-4.
Premier PAGS Division First Place Finish
The Xplosion have just taken first place in the top Premier division of PAGS for the second year in a row (in only their 2nd year as a team).
MAPS Cup 2010 Champions
The Xplosion girls survived the heat and won the MAPS Cup 2010 Championship. The girls played 5 games over 2 days in 100 degree heat and went 4-0-1. The team posted 4 shutouts and allowed 2 goals in a 2-2 tie on Sunday morning.
Challenge Cup 2010 Champions
The Xplosion '98 girls won the EPYSA Challenge Cup 2010 with a 1-0 win over the FC Bucks Wildcats. The team went 7-0 during their Challenge Cup run and outscored their opponents 24-2.
FC Delco Finalists
The Xplosion '98 girls were finalists in the 2010 FC Delco tournament. The team went 3-0-1 leading up to the championship game on a hot Memorial Day against the Albertson Fury '98. The Championship game ended in a 0-0 tie after regulation. Two overtimes and still no score - the game went into penalty kicks, which the Fury won 4-1. During the tournament, the Xplosion outscored their opponents 14-2.
PAGS Premier Division Champions
The YMS U11 Xplosion ‘98 girls won the PAGS top U-11 premier division with a 6-1-1 record during the regular season - posting five shutouts and ending with a division-leading goal differential of eight goals. They also posted shut outs over the WCUSC Predators 1-0 in the semi-final game and gained revenge for their only regular season loss by beating HMMS United 1-0 in the league championship game.
Superior Division Champions - 2009 Jeff Cup
Richmond, VA: The YMS U10 girls went undefeated in the Superior Division at the Jefferson Cup on March 20-22. They had wins of 4-2 and 7-0 on Saturday afternoon and a nail-biter on Sunday morning that was decided by penalty kicks. The championship game on Sunday produced a 3-1 win over the PDP Flames White of North Carolina. Coach John Greaves, assisted by coaches Drew Ruppersberger and Mike Trzaska, assembled this team of girls from the YMS Academy only eight weeks ago.
Ross Haney Tournament Champions
Xplosion '98 girls go undefeated with no goals scored upon them in the 2009 Ross Haney Tournament over Labor Day weekend.
