Bantam and Midget Rosters

The Bantam and Midget rosters for the 2008-2009 season have been filled. A waiting list has been created for any player not yet registered who desires to play on either of these teams. Should an opening become available, that position will be offered to the first name on the waiting list and so on and so forth down the list. Should there become enough players on the waiting list to indicate the need for a second team at either the Bantam or Midget level, that possibility will be explored, and a second team may possibly be created.
If anyone has any questions, please contact any member of the Executive Board.
Registration Paperwork for 2008-2009 Season

Registration paperwork for the 2008-2009 season was due by June 1st. There is still availability at the Mite, Squirt and Pee Wee levels, but it is necessary to get your registration paperwork completed and mailed, along with a $50 non-refundable deposit, ASAP to WYH, P.O. Box 284, Winchendon, MA 01475.
If you require registration paperwork, it may be downloaded under Handouts. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any member of the Executive Board.
2008-2009 Practice Schedule Posted

The practice schedule for the 2008-2009 season has been posted on the website and can be accessed under Calendars and then Practice Schedule under the dropdown menu.

Interested in being a sponsor of our golf tournament where over 150 golfers and volunteers will see your business advertised on the greens? Download the sponsor form under handouts, complete the form and mail it in today and have your business recognized as a proud supporter of Winchendon Youth Hockey. As a reminder to WYH players, for every $100 sponsorship obtained, $25 will be deducted from your tuition for the 2008-2009 hockey season.
WYH Annual Golf Tournament

The WYH Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 12th with an 8 AM start at the Winchendon School Golf Course. Tournament fees will be $75 for non-members and $60 for members. Registration forms and sponsor forms will be available at the banquet or may be obtained by contacting Mike Sevigny. Please register early as the golf tournament fills up fast, and space is limited.

About WYH
Winchendon Youth Hockey is a non-profit organization serving Winchendon and its neighboring communities, including southern New Hampshire. There are more than 140 players between the ages of 4 and 18 currently participating in our program. WYH Mites, Squirts, Pee Wees, and Bantams participate in the Dual State Hockey League. The Dual State program offers 30 regular season games followed by playoffs. With as many as 60 teams playing at each of the age levels, this league is very competitive, and allows for a team to move around within their level and find a good fit and competitive play. After an initial parody round consisting of 10 games, the teams are then evaluated and placed in a division of teams with comparable records to begin the regular season and the first 10 games. After those first games, if a team is determined to not be a good fit in the division where they were initially placed, either as a result of consistent and overwhelming wins or losses, a team can then be moved to a different division, still within their age level, for the next 10 games. This allows for more competitive hockey games and promotes stronger development of all players.
While Dual State hockey games are currently not being played in Winchendon, most games are approximately an hour’s drive, and practices are held here in town at the brand-new Winchendon School ice rink.
WYH Midgets are also participating in the Dual State Hockey League this year. The Midget season runs from September through Thanksgiving with approximately 10-14 games during that timeframe.
WYH also offers a six-week Learn to Skate session which teaches beginning skating techniques. Minimal equipment (skates and helmet) is required.
The WYH InHouse program runs from September - February and is for those who desire to learn the game of hockey. While it is beneficial for the players to already know how to skate, it is not essential. Full protective equipment, as well as a hockey stick, is required.
