Welcome to the web home of the York County Junior Girls Softball League. The YCJGSL offers ASA sanctioned competitive and recreational girls fast pitch softball throughout the surrounding communities of York, Pennsylvania for girls ages 4 through 19.

The year 2008 is our 34th continuous year of providing an organized girls softball league in the York County area. Our softball league began in 1975 with three teams. Since then, we have grown to become one of the largest youth softball leagues in the nation. This year, we have 126 teams registered to play summer ball which represents the most teams that we have ever had playing in one season. We also had 38 teams that participated in the YCJGSL 2007 Fall Ball League.

To inquire about player registration information for the 2008 Summer and/or Fall Ball seasons, please contact any league representative. Contact information for our league reps can be found on the "Contact Info" page under the Main Menu of this web site.

New teams, clubs, and players are welcome to join our league. Any girls fast pitch softball teams, clubs, or organizations that would like to join the YCJGSL as a new member in 2008 must contact the league president to make their intentions known and have a representative attend the next league meeting on March 19, 2008. We offer two levels of competition in each age group with Major and Minor Divisions for girls ages 8 through 19.  The league also offers a modified T-ball/softball program for 4-7 year old girls to introduce them to the game while playing with other girls their age. If you have any questions about the league, please contact any league representative or league officer.

Many thanks to our coaches and parents for sharing your great photos with us.
These are just a few of the many "Stars" that make our league shine.
Enjoy the Slide Show.

MINOR TOURNAMENT RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION

1. All Minor Tournament brackets will use league rules except for the following tournament rules.
2. Roster regulations will be enforced. Please do not use Major Division rostered players from sister teams. This is a league MINOR TOURNAMENT for the league's MINOR DIVISIONS.
3. The tournament format for all Minor Tournaments will be double elimination. NOTE ~ The "IF" game will not be played only in brackets having more than eight teams due to the large number of games to be played.
4. All games will be 1 hour time limit from first pitch (no inning will start after the time limit is reached) or 5 innings, whichever comes first. The 1 hour time limit will be a drop dead time only if the home team has the lead and is at bat in the bottom of the inning.
5. We will use the league's Minor Division 5-run limit per inning rule. Therefore, a six (6) run lead after four (4) innings will end a game, or an eleven (11) run lead after three (3) innings will end a game, because there would be no conceivable way for a team to win the game. Teams must be aware that if they fall behind by more than 5 runs near the end of a game, there is no unlimited runs scored in the last inning.
6. All games will be flip of a coin to determine choice of batting first or last.
7. All teams must provide their own volunteer umpire (unless the host club makes arrangements to provide the umpires).
8. The league will provide one new game ball for each game.
9. The league will provide team trophies and medals for all players of top four teams in each bracket.
10. The league will provide a "Player of the Game" award for every game played in all tournament brackets.  At the end of every game played, both teams will vote for a "Player of the Game" from the opposing team.
11. Good sportsmanship will be required of everyone in attendance at league events at all times. Anyone who fails to comply with ASA and/or YCJGSL sportsmanship/code of conduct policy, will be asked to leave the premises by the tournament director. Failure to do so in a timely manner will be cause for game forfeiture of the team that the individual represents.
12. Some teams will be playing back-to-back games at times. Every effort will be made to give teams and players a break if and when needed. However, we must request that teams avoid excessive delays during and between games.
13. Protests, problems, or other issues that arise before, during, or after any game will be resolved by the host club's tournament director. Any final say will be determined by the league president should a tournament director need help or advise concerning any situation.

This is a league sponsored event. There is no registration fee to enter the Minor Tournament.  However, team coaches must contact the league president to register their team and announce their intentions of participating on or before May 3, 2008. Teams will be seeded in the double elimination bracket in the order that they register for the tournament. If there is any number of teams other than 4, 8 ,or 16, the later registered teams will play the earlier round of elimination. If there are not at least three teams registered in any bracket, the tournament will be cancelled. The league will provide game balls and trophies/awards. The teams and players that reach the final four in each division, will receive medals and a team trophy. This year, there will be a "Player of the Game" award given to a player on each team in every game played during the Minor Tournaments. The "POTG" award will be a newly designed league pin.  As in the regular season, all teams are expected to provide one volunteer umpire for each of their games unless a pool of volunteer umpires can be obtained either by the league or host club. Although not confirmed yet, it is possible that Stewartstown may be providing their own group of umpires for the 10U Minor "AA" and 10U Minor "A" Tournaments.

This is our third year of having the league sponsor the Minor Tournaments and it looks like it will be bigger and better than the previous two years. The YCJGSL is hoping to make the Minor Tournaments an annual league sponsored pre-season event.  Please encourage your Minor Division teams to support this program and help make it a huge success so that we can plan on continuing this event in the future. We have more Minor Divisions this year with more teams playing which means more awards and trophies for the league to purchase. Therefore, we will need as many of our league's families as possible to participate in the Hoss's league fund raiser on May 7th and May 8th to help offset the cost of trophies and awards so we don't have to raise the team registration fees to cover costs. See the Bulletin Board for more information about the Hoss's fundraiser or contact your club's league Representative or the league President for the fundraiser meal tickets. Donations will also be accepted during the Tournaments to help offset the cost of awards and trophies.

Thank you to all of our league's players, coaches, and parents who attended our first annual "YCJGSL Night at the Revs" on Wednesday, August 1, 2007.  Also, many thanks to Michelle Gemmill, the York Revolution Events Coordinator, for coordinating our league's participation in this event. The hospitality extended to us by the entire Revs staff was outstanding.  It was a great evening with about 165 of our league's players in attendance. Our parade around the warning track during pre-game ceremonies went nearly halfway around the stadium. Pics are posted on the Photo Albums page.

We have scheduled our 2008 "YCJGSL Night at the Revs" end of season party on Thursday, August 7, 2008.  Please see the information on the Bulletin Board to order tickets. Teams are encouraged to make their own banner for the pre-game parade around the field. The league president will be presenting awards for the best banners at the 2008 "YCJGSL Night at the Revs".

Our 2008 summer ball season game schedules are now posted on the league web site.  Coaches are reminded to please check the dates, times, and fields for your games to make sure everything is accurate and correct so that teams and umpires are not sent to the wrong field or to a field on the wrong date or at the wrong time. One or two ASA umpires will be assigned to every Major Division game pending availability of umpires.  The league is not responsible for scheduling errors that you do not bring to the league's attention. Coaches are also responsible for reporting rescheduled game information to the league's Commissioners by using the form for your division found on the "Online Game Reports" page under the Main Menu of this web site or send email to your league Commissioner so that we can keep all of the scheduled game information up to date.
