Shore Softball Little League Player Information

The 2018 Shore Softball Little League season will begin in March/April 2018.

Open to residents of or students that attend school in Oceanport, West Long Branch and Monmouth Beach.

Shore Softball Little League - Age Divisions - 2018

Shore Softball Little League – 7 & 8 Youth
Shore Softball Little League – 9 & 10 Youth
Shore Softball Little League – 11 & 12 Youth
Shore Softball Little League – Inter-League - 13-16 - please note that some of the games at this level will be played in the evening.

MEDICAL/EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION
1. I/We, the parents/guardians of the above-named candidate for a position on a Little League team, hereby give my/our approval to participate in any and all Shore Softball Little League activities, including transportation to and from the activities.

2. I/We know that participation in softball may result in serious injuries and protective equipment does not prevent all injuries to players, and do hereby waive, release, absolve, indemnify, and agree to hold harmless the local Little League, Little League Softball, Incorporated, the organizers, sponsors, supervisors, participants, and persons transporting my/our child to and from activities from any claim arising out of any injury to my/our child whether the result of negligence or for any other cause.

3. I/We agree to return upon request the uniform and other equipment issued to my/our child in as good conditions as when received except for normal wear and tear.

4. I/We agree that our child (candidate) may be required to try out for a team. If such does not attend at least 50 percent of the tryouts, local Board-of -Directors' approval is required for such candidate to be placed on a team.

5. I/We understand that our child (candidate) may be chosen at anytime to play on a Major Division team, if he or she is of the correct age for such division as determined by the local league and Shore Softball Little League. Declining to move up to such Major Division team will result in forfeiture of eligibility for the Major Division for the current season, and may be subject to further restrictions by the local league.

6. I/We agree to provide proof of legal residence (as defined by Shore Softball Little League, Incorporated) and age. I/We understand that our child (candidate) must be eligible under the residence and age regulations of Shore Softball Little League, Incorporated, to participate in this Local League, and that if any controversy arises regarding residence and/or age, the decision of the Charter Committee in Williamsport shall be final and binding. I/We further understand that if any participant on a Little League team does not qualify for participation in the league based on residence (as defined by Little League Softball, Incorporated) and/or age, such participant and/or team on which he/she participates be found ineligible, and forfeit(s) and/or suspension of Tournament privileges may be decreed by action of the Charter Committee or Tournament Committee.

7. I/We will furnish a certified birth certificate of the above-named candidate to League Officials.

8. I/We agree that no registration fees will be refunded if our child decides not to play after the 2018 Regular Season teams are drafted.

PARENT’S/GUARDIAN’S CONSENT AND RELEASE

In consideration for being allowed to participate in any way in the Shore Softball Little League program and Shore Softball Little League, related events and activities, I, as parent or guardian of the above child, acknowledge, appreciate, and agree that the risk of injury to my child from the activities involved in this program is significant, including the potential for permanent disability and death, and while particular rules, equipment, and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist; and,

1)FOR MYSELF, SPOUSE, AND CHILD, I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASES or others, and assume full responsibility for my child’s participation in this program, and,

2) I do hereby give my approval for his/her participation in the Shore Softball Little League, and I agree to abide by all the rules and regulations set forth by this organization while my child is participating.

In case of injury to my child I hereby release, absolve, indemnify, and hold harmless the Shore Softball Little League organization and the Boroughs of Oceanport, Monmouth Beach, West Long Branch, and Sea Bright and/or their organizers, sponsors, officers, managers, coaches, instructors, referees, and supervisors and agree to waive an and all claims resulting from or in connection with the activities in which my child is participating. I understand that Shore Softball Little League does not carry personal injury accident insurance. For registration, and my personal family coverage are the only coverage that apply in the event of an injury to my child. If I observe any unusual significant concern in my child’s readiness for participation and/or in the program itself, Ii will remove my child from the participation and bring such attention of the nearest official immediately, and,

3) I myself, my spouse, my child, and on behalf of my/our heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS Shore Softball Little League, and their directors, officers, officials, agents, employees, volunteers, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to facilitate the Shore Softball Little League program.

WITH RESPECT TO ANY AND ALL INJURY, DISABILITY, DEATH, or loss or damage to person or property incident to WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASES OR OTHERWISE, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

4) I, for myself, my spouse, my child, and on behalf of my/our heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS all the above Releases from any and all liabilities incident to my involvement or participation in these programs, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THEIR NEGLIGENCE, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT, FULLY

UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT.
2018 Shore Softball Little League Code of Ethics

Parents / Players:
- Treat all players, other parents, coaches, and umpires with the utmost respect at all times regardless of race, creed, color, sex or ability.

- Exhibit the qualities of good sportsmanship at all times. Be gracious in victory and dignified in defeat.

- Be responsible for guests you bring.

- Clean up all litter from the dugout, stands and sidelines at the end of every game and practice.

- Respect the facilities.

Parents:
- Do not force your children to play sports, but support their desire to play their chosen sport.

- Use positive encouragement to increase confidence and build self-esteem in your children and foster a respect and appreciation for the sport.

- Stress the importance of the team play over personal statistics and recognition. Encourage your children to develop good practice and game habits in an effort to continually improve their skills.

- Foster the development of good character by teaching, enforcing, advocating, and modeling high standards of ethics and sportsmanship.

- Encourage your children to learn the rules of their sport and abide by them at all times.

- Respect the authority of the umpires and coaches during games. Never question, discuss, or confront umpires or coaches on the game field or on the sidelines. If required; arrange to speak with your child’s coach privately; off the playing field and away from all players.
Players:

- Think and play as a member of a team and encourage other players to put team success above personal statistics and recognition.

- Demonstrate a concern for others. Never intentionally injure any other player.

- Promote a positive team environment

- Provide positive encouragement of your teammates.

- Help your teammates become better players by sharing your knowledge and assisting them in improving their skills.

- Learn and abide by the rules of your sport at all times.

I have read and understand the above Character Counts Code of Conduct and understand that it is my responsibility to act accordingly. I also understand that violation of this code of conduct could result in my being forbidden from attending games or practices.
