WE NEED SHUTTLE DRIVERS

Due to the length of this hike we will need 3-4 (depending on the # of hikers) adult shuttle drivers and one shuttle vehicle. Shuttle drivers will drive to the start of the hike in the shuttle vehicle then drive the hikers vehicles to the trail end. Shuttle drivers should be back in Long Hill by 8:00am

Directions will be given out Saturday Morning

Return:

Planned Return time to the Elks 6:00pm - APPROXIMATELY!

Details:
This hike is along the former "towpath" of the D&R Canal. It is very flat but very long.
Although the hike is open to all scouts and family members it may not be suitable for everyone. First year scouts and those lacking hiking experience may want to sit this one out.
Older scouts who are on their way to obtaining the Hiking Merit Badge are encouraged to attend. This hike is only offered every three years, and is required for the Hiking Merit Badge!

Your most comfortable, sturdy, well-fitting lite boots or sneakers are strongly recommended for this hike - Heavy hiking boots are NOT. All hikers must carry their own pack with water (at least 2 liters), bag lunch and a good supply of healthy trail snacks. Dress appropriately for the weather and conditions. Be Prepared! Don't forget, sunscreen, raingear, a hat and extra socks! Scouts should wear their Class B's. Also please leave the electronics at home

Important
The hikes are ONE way, so a shuttle is required. An adult volunteer to assist with the shuttle is required. The volunteer will NOT hike with us but will drive up in their own vehicle to ferry the other drivers back to the trailhead after leaving their cars at the trail's end point.

PLEASE email me ASAP if you can fulfill this roleā€¦The hike CANNOT happen without a Shuttle Driver
DO NOT just show up at the Elks!!!

Seating is planned to minimize the number of drivers needed. If you arrive unannounced a seat may not be available. PLEASE complete the online permission slip for each hiker attending so plans can be finalized.

Do Not Bring:
- Electronic devices (radio, IPods, video games, DVD players, etc.)
- Cell Phones... Adult Leaders will have them for emergencies and to call parents when we get close to the Elks Club when we return.

As always "The weather will be beautiful."
