Can someone tell me what's going on for weeknight summer? Last year it was Blue Thunder.

I say we get in the Nassau competitive league that the Dawgs were in last year. We have the guys.

So what's up?

I think that is a good idea, even though I love Blue Thunder, i don't think that it has the caliber of players we had on Frosty Balls this year. If both teams combine, on paper it looks likea super squad. something to think about.

We'll get together next weekend to discuss options. I'm all for it. It's the out East guys (including Mr. Island Slowpitch Gonzalez) we're going to need clearance from.

I should have the jackets next week and we'll pick a spot to hand them out, etc. We'll discuss who would be willing to play Nassau weeknights.

I would love to come into the Nassau weeknight league and clean house. AFter last season on the Dawgs and the debacle that we had there, if would be nice to beat up on some of the cocky pricks in this league. The only problem with the dawgs league is there are no fences at mitchell, and thats where most of the games are. I don't mind bc I dont hit hr anyway, but some ofthe guys on frosty might.

We beat Minutemen on an open field. Probably one of the top reasons we won.

The 2007 Dawgs finished in 5th place with a 13-13 record and missed the playoffs for the first time in 6 years. 2007 was a seesaw battle in which the team struggled each week due to lingering injuries and key players missing. Positively, the beer roster never missed a beat and will continue to rock in 2008,

The 2008 Spring Season begins in 60 days (mid March) which includes an abbreviated 4-week schedule and an entry into the one-pitch tournament. These games will be played on Sundays. The 2008 Summer Season begins in mid-April, which includes a 12-week schedule and games to be played on weeknights. Tournaments are subject to management's discretion.

Management is currently in negotiations with adding on talented players from its Fall affiliate, the Frosty Balls, who won the 2007 Fall Championship by beating JNK/Minitemen Press. Big Pete Apostolides, Gino the Surgeon, Joey G, and Julio Mantiega have been offered full and rescue squad contracts for 2008. The return of AJ is also in the works.

The 2008 Dawgs season looks to be a promising one as team Management is stronger than ever and looks to ensure its players are fully committed to bringing home a championship!

What Nicky was trying to say was that the Dawgs would go up against the best teams in Long Island with a bunch of key players missing each week. Nicky also meant to say that on open fields (mitchel), Dawgs were 9-1. On fenced fields (Jones beach, Baldwin, Cantiague), Dawgs were 4-12, which was basically due to the fences getting in our heads! Big Pete came down to help the Dawgs play Darkside at Jones Beach, promptly went 7 for 8 with 5 HRS, and the Dawgs managed to hang in game 1 losing on a walk-off HR in a 28-27 ballgame. Game 2 feature pyrotechnics and ejections, resulting in an almost fatal collapse of the DAWGS!

Dawgs seek the unity of its Frosty Ball members to battle amazing teams like Darkside, Abbel Awning, JNK,Cougars, 13 Soft, and Blacksox....

Opening day is in less than 60 days.........

OK, I like "SOME" of what I read here!

Just for the record, 11 of the 17 man roster of Frosty are, and still original members of Blue Thunder. There was a bit of the difference in the chemistry of the teams. I admit that.

But, that was not the only thing. FB also had alot more people who can run for themselves, as apposed to Blue Thunder, who were the Gimps of the league(6 courtesy runners).

I said that all season long! We need speed. That was our biggest down fall.

But I actually like that Idea of merging! We would definately have to discuss these options.

But Greg is right. Nassau, will be an issue for some people like myself. Also, the day we decide to do if we do it.

Negotiations will need to be held ASAP!

Joe....For a few seasons now guys have been driving to GODS country to play for 88s and BT. Nassau players trucking out to Patchogue and the Airport. This is just my opinion now...but, maybe just for this season a few of we Suffolk players should drive to Nassau...it seems only fair. I know, I know, you get a stiffy when you hear Island stats....err softball...I mean. This "does" seem to be a nice chemistry...perhaps one of the best ive EVER seen...without Julio and Freddo and GM ...etc..( forgive me if i dont actually know how many come from Nassau) do we win NA>? Probably not... soooo AJ...Joey....etc...time to return the favor.

Ive played from Queens to Rocky Point..so I could care less about a drive to play. Just an observation ....if this entry offends any one's political beliefs ...please simply delete it. --or send it to 10 people and you will instantly be granted a .845 BA....send it to 20 people and be granted a .845 BA for 3 leagues.

Pistol, it has nothing to do with the stats...
It's that Island has the best competition and offers the most for the money. In no other league can you play the kind of game we had against Minuteman Press at CitiBank Park.

You actually get your awards with out having to go place the order and pick them up!

I know you like New Alliance(why I have no idea) but mitchell field is ABA. 3' to 10' arc. You probabally wouldn't want to play knowing that info now. But thats what it is.

If you measured the distance for the Nassau boys from their house to Mitchell Field, It would be about the same for them to go east. Atleast in most cases. Time wise, it would be the same. In fact, for most of the Nassau players they're closer to Suffolk than Uniondale.
When it rains, forget about it! it's a rain out.
I don't know about you, but i hate games being called prematurely. ABA is notorious for that.

I'm not opposed to the idea, but, there are alot of things to consider. Besides Freddo and the Kalinas and Nicky in Jersey, who else comes from Nassau?
And, the biggest question of all," Who is going to manage the team?"

First of all, how about a Joey G congrads to the Giants of NY for triumphing over the Packers of Green Bay by kicking an oblong object made out of pigskin through a Giant H!?!!?! - Name that movie....

Kalina is in charge of the Frosty Balls, Joey G is in charge of tournaments, Freddo has always run the Dawgs, Nicky manages the money, and I think we all agree with no more games at Town Hall!!!!

Joey G...Gezus Kriest ...you know I love Island. I sat in protest of 1-0 and ONE MORE RULE GEARED TO HITTERS AND PADDED STATS. I can pitch 3-10, 6-10, Baseball, I will throw wiffle balls if I have to. I like NA for one reason 12'but i never had much of a problem at 10' ..well except for the games when I give up 13 in the first =) but Im TRYIN GUYS....

Let me know, Joey, Freddo, Greg, I try to play everyday...that way i dont come IN cold and give up 13 in the first. I will spot start for any of you guys anyday...class people...and its a pleasure to play with you.

Speaking of class people..Big Pete woke me up during the NA finals game against NWO. I should not have yelled at my outfielders to move back. I did apologize later and explained that we are not playing C teams and these guys can really whack it. Thank you Big Pasta for the wisdom.

I still see that play where Riordan came off the base and we lost. I called him that night and told him to DIE..you MFer!!...eerrr no, I told him it was MY fault for giving up the 3 run homer after. Curve broke in too far ...sorry

I play indoors Friday night w/ Craig in Smithtown ....getting ready for the spring...Friday can't come fast enough...I am JONESING. Any of you freaks want some swings?

When all your kids grow up you will be able to play every night too =)

The point is, I have played on many teams, for many years, and this, without a doubt, is the most fun I have had...thank you ALL for that.

Get Limber....March is coming fast...BEE REDDY
